Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paul Hill was a well-respected NASA scientist when, in the early 1950s, he had a UFO sighting. Soon after, he built the first flying platform and was able to duplicate the UFO's tilt-to-control maneuvers. Official policy, however, prevented him from proclaiming his findings. "I was destined," says Hill, "to be as unidentified as the flying objects." For the next twenty-five years, Hill acted as an unofficial clearinghouse at NASA, collecting and analyzing sightings' reports for physical properties, propulsion possibilities, dynamics, etc. To refute claims that UFOs defy the laws of physics, he had to make "technological sense... of the unconventional object." After his retirement from NASA, Hill finally completed his remarkable analysis. This book, published posthumously, presents his findings that UFOs "obey, not defy, the laws of physics." Vindicating his own sighting and thousands of others, he proves that UFO technology is not only explainable, but attainable.

Download or read book UFO written by David Ritchie and published by M J F Books. This book was released on 1997-05 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings readers up to date on some of the most recent reports, research and speculation concerning UFOs, including alleged physical evidence of spacecraft and incidents of apparently hostile activity by UFOs, notably in Latin America. There are descriptions of many scientific research projects on the subject and ample coverage of the UFO as a psychological and spiritual phenomenon. Numerous investigations and theories surrounding the UFO controversy are included in this volume, and famous UFO hoaxes are exposed. The book examines some of the connections between New Age religious phenomena and UFO investigations, such as the former Soviet technique of using "biolocation", a "psychic" procedure comparable to dowsing, to identify alleged landing sites of UFOs.

Download or read book Search for the Unknown written by Matthew Hayes and published by McGill-Queen's Press - MQUP. This book was released on 2022-04-15 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Beginning in the 1950s, alleged sightings of unidentified flying objects in Canadian skies bred tension between the state and its citizens. While the public demanded to know more about the phenomenon, government officials appeared unconcerned and unresponsive. Suspicion of government deepened among certain sectors of Canadian society in the decades that followed, leading to demands for greater public transparency and a new kind of citizen activism. In Search for the Unknown Matthew Hayes uncovers the history of the Canadian government’s investigations into reports of UFOs, revealing how these reports were handled, deflected, and defended from 1950 to the 1990s. During this period Canadians filed more than 5,000 reports of UFO sightings – many with striking descriptions and illustrations – with branches of government and law enforcement. Although the government conducted some exploratory studies, officials were unable to solve the mystery of UFOs or provide satisfactory answers about their alleged existence, and they soon declared the matter closed. Dissatisfied citizens responded by taking matters into their own hands, starting UFO clubs and civilian investigation groups, and accusing the government of a cover-up. A mutual mistrust developed between citizens who were suspicious of their government and officials who dismissed their fears and anxieties. This provided fertile ground for anti-authoritarian attitudes and the cultivation of conspiracy theories. In an era of political division, and amid heightened awareness of states’ responsibilities for their citizens, Search for the Unknown reveals the challenges that governments face in responding to public anxieties and preserving trust in public institutions.
