Book excerpt: Catch the stallion ~ win the ranch... When his father announced his engagement to a gold-digger with a lying, scheming fourteen-year old daughter, seventeen-year old Tripp Warner left Warner Ridge Ranch and never looked back. Until the day he got the phone call that his father had died unexpectedly. Reggie Reed lives with her guilt every day but can't quite work up the courage to track down the son of the man who raised her as his own. When Tripp shows up at his father’s funeral eleven years later--and a hell of a man to be reckoned with--he has no interest in her too-late apology. Worse, they’ve inherited half shares of the family ranch—but only if they work together to catch Mason’s Gold, the stallion a young Reggie let escape and made sure Tripp took the blame for. Tripp proposes a secret competition to the beautiful witch who stole his life: whoever catches the stallion first gets the ranch all to themselves. It sounds simple, but once they’re out on the range, tempers and passions flare in the Texas heat and nothing goes as either of them expects. Can they work together to keep the ranch, or will their past get in the way of their future? Book Synopsis Water Under the Bridge by : P. J. Heyman
Download or read book Water Under the Bridge written by P. J. Heyman and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-12-02 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is part one of the autobiography of Pamela Jean Heyman, a Kentish girl who grew up in the period before, during and after the Second World War and went on to migrate to Nigeria in search of interest and excitement. It covers the period from her birth in 1931 to the eve of her departure for Africa in 1956. Most of the story is set in and around Throwley, Ashford and Maidstone in the 1930s and 40s. The author, Jean, was born on her maternal Grandparents farm. Her Father left soon after the birth of her little brother. He remarried, and Jeans Mother moved to Maidstone where she took up a career in hairdressing, leaving Jean and her brother in the care of Grandma and Grandad and Auntie Kalla. In the tale that unfolds the old couple and their second daughter represents fortitude and loving stability, whereas Jeans Mother, on her frequent visits, represents glamour, laughter and colour. By the end of the 1930s Jeans Grandparents had to give up the farm due to ill health. Jean and her Brother went to live with their Mother and her new Husband and their half-Sister, Maureen. This period coincides with the outbreak of war and the beginning of its privations. The Authors life story serves as an evocative account of how country people lived in those days and how (not withstanding the trials and tribulations brought about by her Mothers third marriage), during and after the war she worked hard to improve her secretarial skills which enabled her to eventually obtain a position in the Federal Government of Nigeria in Lagos. Part two will recount this period.

This book was released on 2019-03-20 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A ghost propels them together. Danger will try to rip them apart… Ella Liddington-Walsh is turning quietly—make that noisily—insane, and it is all soldier Dillon Williams’s fault because the ghost harassing Ella belongs to HIM. Sleep-deprived and desperate, she drives to his country property to confront the man. One way or another, she will pass on her problem and finally sleep through the entire night. Not that her task will be easy since Dillon strikes her as a no-nonsense military man. A believer in ghosts—not so much. Widower Dillon judges Ella’s pink hair, her weird stories of haunting and decides she’s crazy. He sends her packing, but a landslide brings the sassy lady returning like a boomerang. Unable to deny her shelter during the stormy night, he discovers an unwilling fascination and attraction for the curvy Ella, along with common ground and whoa! Steamy hijinks in his big bed. After his wife’s murder, Dillon isn’t looking for romance, but a chance discovery brings the past and the present on a collision. Dillon realizes he likes Ella more than he should, and if he doesn’t stay alert, he’ll lose her in the same way he lost his wife. Contains a determined, vintage-wearing heroine and a grumpy soldier who wears guilt like a second skin. On paper, they shouldn’t work but there’s no accounting for the power of attraction and a landslide blocking the road.
