The magnitude of the phenomena that are associated with the Pelee eruptions, and the obscurity in which many of the facts pertaining thereto still remain, will necessitate further research before the episode can be made fully known in all its relations, and probably some of the conclusions here set forth will have to be modified in the light of future investigations. But the history as it stands may be considered measurably complete, and it has the advantage, at least, of being based largely upon personal observation.
