What a book! It's riveting, it's moving, it's topical, it's superb! ... superb writing, brilliant characters, a glorious adventure and the warmest of heart. Amazing!' Malachy Doyle 'Emma Rea has written a beautifully researched adventure which encompasses the Welsh countryside and the Amazon. The unfolding friendship between Welsh Dylan and Brazilian Lucia is fabulous, and the clever plot sweeps along like a boat in a current.' Sue Wallman 'When nature-loving Dylan, 12, discovers his family farm in Wales (beautifully evoked) is being bought by a conglomerate based in Brazil, he plans to go there secretly to plead for the purchase to be abandoned ...This is the kind of adventure everyone likes to imagine when young, about being ingenious and brave and outwitting adults.' Nicolette Jones, Sunday Times Children's Book of the Week ' My Name is River... is a fantastically original adventure about a boy whose idyllic Welsh home is bought by an evil corporation. Desperate to save it, he travels from Birmingham to Brazil with his best friend. Rea's flight of imagination has two sympathetic heroes risking everything while lying their heads off. Packed with ecological indignation, it is both funny and timely.' Amanda Craig, New Statesman

Book Synopsis The Addiction Manifesto by : Jerry Weaver
Download or read book The Addiction Manifesto written by Jerry Weaver and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-04-20 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hello, I'm Jerry, army vet and a recovering addict. I wrote this book to help me stay sober but realized that if it could help keep a hopeless addict like myself sober then why wouldn't it help others? I have been blessed with another chance at life and so can you. I have tried to break down the addiction matrix, how addiction affects your mind and the tricks is uses to manipulate us to keep us in active addiction. We all know how dangerous that sweet voice of addiction can be, we've listened to it over and over again. The hardest step (to me) towards recovery was the very first step, admitting that I was a real addict and that I could not, would not, control my usage. I have broke down things that are helping me but we're all wired differently so you have to find what works for you. Thank you for reading this book and if you liked it please leave feedback or comments. Thank you and good luck!!

Download or read book Shaula written by A. M. Kherbash and published by Asma Kherbash. This book was released on 2021-09-30 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sight of the body did not sicken Ben. Not right away. Guilt was what got him: the mounting consequences rising in his throat, and the truth which would inevitably come spilling out. Sometime after the events at Duncastor, two men are dispatched to make a delivery. It was a straightforward assignment: take the sealed cargo-a container roughly the size of a child's casket-and deliver it to a reclusive specialist residing in a lakeside cabin. What this specialist did or specialized in was never mentioned. Not that it mattered, when the task was simple-simple enough that even a young and inexperienced bureaucrat like Ben could handle it. If only he weren't charged with keeping an eye on his wayward senior. The lakeside cabin was the last remnant of a closed down resort, which Ben guessed was bought by a dummy corporation belonging to their employers. All the other cabins were torn down, leaving them with an empty property that served to distance the lakeside cabin from public grounds. Something about it reminded Ben of the horticultural practice of pruning spent flowers to further enhance the beauty of the crowning blossom. Not that it did anything to improve the cabin's appearance he observed, as they stood in front of the stocky wooden building, sheltered under interlacing branches of towering evergreens. Much like the faded photos, an eerie hush permeated the place: no breeze ruffled the reflected image on the lake's surface, nor susurrated through the green needles above. It was all very quiet.
