Download or read book Moving written by Eugenia Mello and published by . This book was released on 2019-11-19 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Moving from one home to another is often stressful for adults and children alike - even more so if it involves frequent relocations to different countries. On top of the physically exhausting processes like house hunting and packing, the constant change in environment can also take a heavy toll on one's emotions, particularly affecting the young. Eugenia Mello was inspired by her own nomadic childhood to tell the story of a lonely young girl who eventually finds a 'family' within her new community through art, dance, and music. Besides its simple yet compelling narrative, Moving also features stunning illustrations that reflect the subtle beauty in the author's perspectives and experiences.
Download or read book Andrew Hem written by Andrew Hem and published by Zero Plus. This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Andrew Hems artwork captures the rich emotion of in-between states and places, visually depicting those fraught emotional vignettes that call for reserves of bravery and wisdom previously underestimated in oneself. Hem himself was born in transition, during his parents flight from Cambodia in the wake of the Khmer Rouge genocide; the delicate figures he paints always seem to be captured in just one moment of a much deeper symbolic narrative. The instability captured in his scenes of people within empty city streets, expansive rice fields, snowy mountain passes, or wading away from fishing boats is given new meaning within his gorgeously shaded, layered brushwork paintings that also draw from the urban graffiti art scene he was exposed to growing up in Los Angeles. Hem received his B.F.A. in Illustration from the Art Center College of Art and Design in 2006. He has been featured in a variety of renowned publications including Beyond Illustration, Communication Arts, Society of Illustrators, Hi-Fructose, American Illustration, and Spectrum; this is his first monograph.

Book Synopsis Masterful Marks by : Monte Beauchamp
Download or read book Masterful Marks written by Monte Beauchamp and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2014-09-02 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In a first-of-its-kind collection, award-winning illustrators celebrate the lives of the visionary artists who created the world of comic art and altered pop culture forever. No one has told the story of comic art in its own medium, until now. In Masterful Marks, top illustrators--including Drew Friedman, Nora Krug, Denis Kitchen, and Peter Kuper--reveal how sixteen visionary cartoonists overcame massive financial, political, and personal challenges to create a new form of art that now defines our world. Superhero comics didn't exist until two teenagers from Cleveland created the first superhero of all time: Superman. Advertising artist Theodor Geisel released his first book in 1937 as Dr. Seuss--and children's literature was never the same. Charles M. Schulz's perseverance and passion gave the world Peanuts, the world's most famous comic strip. Featuring these tales, and profiling such giants as Walt Disney, Robert Crumb, and the creators of MAD, Tintin, and manga, Masterful Marks illustrates how graphic storytelling became such a rich and popular medium. Masterful Marks is a stunning portrait of the comic art's aesthetic heritage and a powerful story of how creative vision can change the world"--
