This book was released on 1984 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a prior thesis project, a functional level model of portions of the Motorola MC68000 microprocessor was developed using signal analysis supported by limited technical data. Representative parts of the instruction set and exception processing structure were modeled with the Computer Design Language (CDL). In this follow-on thesis, those CDL models are transformed into equivalent models using ISP', an enhanced version of the Instruction Set Processor (ISP) hardware design language. This language transformation enabled the models to be simulated using N.mPc, a VAX 11/780-hosted software package developed specifically to support the design of digital systems. To evaluate the correctness of the models, the simulation results are analyzed against signal data gathered with the aid of a logic analyzer during the actual operation of the MC68000 when processing the modeled instructions. The accuracy and completeness of the models suggest that this functional approach to microprocessor modeling is a valid one.

Book Synopsis Reconfigurable Computing by : Joao Cardoso
Download or read book Reconfigurable Computing written by Joao Cardoso and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-08-17 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the complexity of modern embedded systems increases, it becomes less practical to design monolithic processing platforms. As a result, reconfigurable computing is being adopted widely for more flexible design. Reconfigurable Computers offer the spatial parallelism and fine-grained customizability of application-specific circuits with the postfabrication programmability of software. To make the most of this unique combination of performance and flexibility, designers need to be aware of both hardware and software issues. FPGA users must think not only about the gates needed to perform a computation but also about the software flow that supports the design process. The goal of this book is to help designers become comfortable with these issues, and thus be able to exploit the vast opportunities possible with reconfigurable logic.

Book excerpt: This document is designed to be a resource for those Linux users wishing to seek clarification on Linux/UNIX/POSIX related terms and jargon. At approximately 24000 definitions and two thousand pages it is one of the largest Linux related dictionaries currently available. Due to the rapid rate at which new terms are being created it has been decided that this will be an active project. We welcome input into the content of this document. At this moment in time half yearly updates are being envisaged. Please note that if you wish to find a 'Computer Dictionary' then see the 'Computer Dictionary Project' at http://computerdictionary.tsf.org.za/ Searchable databases exist at locations such as: http://www.swpearl.com/eng/scripts/dictionary/ (SWP) Sun Wah-PearL Linux Training and Development Centre is a centre of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, established in 2000. Presently SWP is delivering professional grade Linux and related Open Source Software (OSS) technology training and consultant service in Hong Kong. SWP has an ambitious aim to promote the use of Linux and related Open Source Software (OSS) and Standards. The vendor independent positioning of SWP has been very well perceived by the market. Throughout the last couple of years, SWP becomes the Top Leading OSS training and service provider in Hong Kong. http://www.geona.com/dictionary?b= Geona, operated by Gold Vision Communications, is a new powerful search engine and internet directory, delivering quick and relevant results on almost any topic or subject you can imagine. Book Synopsis Handbook of Networked and Embedded Control Systems by : Dimitrios Hristu-Varsakelis
Download or read book Handbook of Networked and Embedded Control Systems written by Dimitrios Hristu-Varsakelis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-11-14 with total page 808 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The vast majority of control systems built today are embedded; that is, they rely on built-in, special-purpose digital computers to close their feedback loops. Embedded systems are common in aircraft, factories, chemical processing plants, and even in cars–a single high-end automobile may contain over eighty different computers. The design of embedded controllers and of the intricate, automated communication networks that support them raises many new questions—practical, as well as theoretical—about network protocols, compatibility of operating systems, and ways to maximize the effectiveness of the embedded hardware. This handbook, the first of its kind, provides engineers, computer scientists, mathematicians, and students a broad, comprehensive source of information and technology to address many questions and aspects of embedded and networked control. Separated into six main sections—Fundamentals, Hardware, Software, Theory, Networking, and Applications—this work unifies into a single reference many scattered articles, websites, and specification sheets. Also included are case studies, experiments, and examples that give a multifaceted view of the subject, encompassing computation and communication considerations.
Book Synopsis The Electronic Design Automation Handbook by : Dirk Jansen
Download or read book The Electronic Design Automation Handbook written by Dirk Jansen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-02-23 with total page 672 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When I attended college we studied vacuum tubes in our junior year. At that time an average radio had ?ve vacuum tubes and better ones even seven. Then transistors appeared in 1960s. A good radio was judged to be one with more thententransistors. Latergoodradioshad15–20transistors and after that everyone stopped counting transistors. Today modern processors runing personal computers have over 10milliontransistorsandmoremillionswillbeaddedevery year. The difference between 20 and 20M is in complexity, methodology and business models. Designs with 20 tr- sistors are easily generated by design engineers without any tools, whilst designs with 20M transistors can not be done by humans in reasonable time without the help of Prof. Dr. Gajski demonstrates the Y-chart automation. This difference in complexity introduced a paradigm shift which required sophisticated methods and tools, and introduced design automation into design practice. By the decomposition of the design process into many tasks and abstraction levels the methodology of designing chips or systems has also evolved. Similarly, the business model has changed from vertical integration, in which one company did all the tasks from product speci?cation to manufacturing, to globally distributed, client server production in which most of the design and manufacturing tasks are outsourced.

Book Synopsis Perspectives on Soviet and Russian Computing by : John Impagliazzo
Download or read book Perspectives on Soviet and Russian Computing written by John Impagliazzo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2011-09-06 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains a collection of thoroughly refereed papers derived from the First IFIP WG 9.7 Conference on Soviet and Russian Computing, held in Petrozavodsk, Russia, in July 2006. The 32 revised papers were carefully selected from numerous submissions; many of them were translated from Russian. They reflect much of the shining history of computing activities within the former Soviet Union from its origins in the 1950s with the first computers used for military decision-making problems up to the modern period where Russian ICT grew substantially, especially in the field of custom-made programming.
