Four hundred years after the Ragnarok War, the world will never be the same. Humanity never recovered from the impact of the meteor that unleashed the xenovirus. While the virus is no longer hostile to human life thanks to Alex Keener and his friends, there is strife between their Elekai descendants, the dragons, and those of pure human blood. As humanity fights amongst itself, an ancient evil awakens, plotting destruction. And at the center of it all stands Shanti Roshar, a young woman growing up in the slums of Colonia, capital of the Annaran Covenant. Her life forever changes the day she discovers she shares the blood of the Elekai, as well as their amazing connection to dragons. And that connection might be the world's only hope... The Xenoworld Saga is the sequel series to The Wasteland Chronicles, and completes the overall story.

Book excerpt: Fridthjof's saga, also spelt Friedhof's saga, starts with King Bele of Sogn who had two sons, Helgi and Halfdan, and a daughter named Ingeborg. Across the fjord, lived the king's friend Thorstein Vikingsson whose son Fridthjof (Frio jofr), called "the bold," was the bravest among men. Fridthjof had been raised with Ingeborg by their foster-father Hilding. Both Bele and Thorsteinn died in war whereupon Helgi and Halfdan ruled the kingdom. They were jealous of Fridthjof's excellent qualities and denied Fridthjof Ingeborg's hand. They took her to Balder's sacred enclosure where no one dared touch her. Still, Fridthjof visited Ingeborg and their love for each other continued to grow. This angered Helgi and Halfdan and Fridthjof was banished to Orkney. They also demanded tribute. While he was away they burnt down his homestead and married Ingeborg to the aged king Ring of Ringerike. When Frithjof returned with the tribute, he burnt down Balder's temple and left to live as a viking. After three years he wintered with king Ring. Fridthjof's identity became apparent and the dying king appointed Fridthjof earl and made him the care-taker of Ring's and Ingeborg's child. After Ring's death, Fridthjof and Ingeborg married and he became the king of Ringerike. He declared war on Ingeborg's brothers, killed one and made the second his vassal. Tegne'r's poem, "Fridthjof's Saga," has been printed in Sweden in many editions and in almost every possible style. It has been illustrated and it has been set to music most famously by Heinrich Hofmann but also by Bruch and Johan Wagenaar. Moreover it has been rendered into English by eighteen different translators, and has been translated into nearly all the modern European languages. 33% of the net profit from the sale of this book will be donated to charity."

Book excerpt: Two brothers. One woman. A nation at war.An emotional and compelling story of war, brotherly love, romance and betrayal during World War One. Vast in scope and intimate in the portrayal of three lives swept along by circumstances, 'This Time Tomorrow' moves from the drawing rooms of Edwardian London to the trenches of the Western Front and to the uncertainty of post-war Britain. 1915. When Guy Searight volunteers to fight with the British army in the early days of World War One, he leaves behind his girlfriend, Mary. While away fighting, Guy's younger brother, Jack, seizes an opportunity to woo Mary for himself. Forthright and self assured, Guy has always looked out for his confident but frail brother and blithely promises his fretting mother that he'll look out for him when Jack's turn comes to join up. But embittered by Jack's betrayal, Guy vows that when Jack has to face the horrors of war for himself, he won't be there to look after him. When the brothers are reunited in the trenches of the Western Front, their thoughts are both with Mary. As Jack buckles under the strain of war, can Guy sustain his anger and allow his brother to suffer alone? A shocking event, catastrophic in its intensity and barbaric in its conclusion, forces Guy to re-evaluate his relationship with his brother, with Mary and ultimately himself. 'This Time Tomorrow: World War One Historical Fiction' is a tale of love, loss and longing. 'The Searight Saga' Part Two, The Unforgiving Sea, is now available."A tale of love, loyalty, and conflict of a scope few writers could realize but all readers will enjoy.""Heart-stopping historical fiction," Kathryn Atwood, author."A thoroughly enjoyable but sad story. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Colonialism and Homosexuality is a thorough investigation of the connections of homosexuality and imperialism from the late 1800s - the era of 'new imperialism' - until the era of decolonization. Robert Aldrich reconstructs the context of a number of liaisons, including those of famous men such as Cecil Rhodes, E.M. Forster or André Gide, and the historical situations which produced both the Europeans and their non-Western lovers. Colonial lands, which in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century included most of Africa, South and Southeast Asia and the islands of the Pacific and Indian Oceans and the Caribbean, provided a haven for many Europeans whose sexual inclinations did not fit neatly into the constraints of European society. Each of the case-studies is a micro-history of a particular colonial situation, a sexual encounter, and its wider implications for cultural and political life. Students both of colonial history, and of gender and queer studies, will find this an informative read.

Book excerpt: These Sagas were from a time when men were knighted for achieving great feats, and great their feats were. Often dismissed by the King’s court and shunned by their peers, they went a-viking with a small band of loyal followers, or sometimes alone, to seek their fortune and fame in a way that only a Viking would know how. On their return home they were, more often than not, proclaimed as heroes to be honoured by their kings and given their rightful places in the court and the nation.
