Book excerpt: Marcus Ryan is a mage - with an aversion to magic. For the last twenty years, he's done everything possible to steer clear of spells and the tutors employed to instruct in their usage. All the cheerful young noble wants is to be left in peace to be the oddball everyone thinks he is. However, a brief meeting with an emotionless stranger, and an evening when events spiral out of his control, changes everything - past, present, and future. Called upon to put right an ancient injustice, Marcus will have no choice but to arm himself with the one thing he hates most.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the nineteenth century, scholars have debated the controversial relationships between humanism, the Renaissance and the Reformation. Challenging the dominant narrative on the subject, Giovanni Tortoriello reconstructs the debates that characterized the early Reformation movements. He shows that Martin Luther's theology of the cross developed in reaction to the irenic tendencies of the Renaissance. With the spread of Platonism, Hermeticism, and Kabbalah in the fifteenth century, the identity of Christianity shifted and the boundaries between the different religions thinned. In response to this attempt to minimize the differences among the various religions, Luther reiterated the centrality and uniqueness of the salvific event of the cross. Confessional biases and theological prejudices have obliterated the role that Platonism, Hermeticism, and Christian Kabbalah played in the early Reformation debates. The author reconstructs these controversies and situates Luther's theology of the cross in this historical context.

While continuing the ruse of Amarie’s death, Kin suffers at the hands of his master. The path his life must take becomes clear when his mother’s life is jeopardized. Ridding himself of the corrupt power in his veins is his only choice. It is no minor task, but he can’t let Uriel continue to use him and gain the throne of Feyor. Confined to restrictive quarters, Talon has nothing to do but dwell on the circumstances of his life and recent actions. Brought before the Council of Elders while isolated from Amarie, he stands accused of crimes both old and new. He must face the consequences of accompanying her to Eralas and defying his banishment from his homeland. After throwing herself to the mercy of the auer, intent on sparing Talon a horrendous fate, Amarie fears nothing can change the outcome of his sentence. In a drastic act, she bargains with the greatest leverage she has and hopes she isn’t too late. Desperation fuels life-altering decisions, placing the future of Pantracia in grave danger. If those who seek to protect it fail... the kingdoms, and life as they know it, will fall to ash and shadow. Unraveling of the Soul is Part 3 of The Berylian Key Trilogy, and Book 3 in the Pantracia Chronicles.
