Book Synopsis The Roll-up of a Cylindrical Jet in a Cross Flow by : Hsin-Chen Chang
Download or read book The Roll-up of a Cylindrical Jet in a Cross Flow written by Hsin-Chen Chang and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The roll-up of the separation boundary between a parallel stream and a cylindrical jet which penetrates perpendicularly the parallel stream is investigated. The spacewise stationary problem is transformed into a nonstationary one and solutions are obtained using two different methods. In the first, valid only near the jet exit plane, the potential flow is solved by using a series expansion technique. A second method uses a number of single vortex lines to represent the jet boundary and is valid to a greater distance from the jet exit plane. Using these techniques the jet roll-up mechanism is investigated and numerical solutions are obtained. (Modified author abstract).
