The Road to Armageddon examines the universal concept of the Apocalypse on an intensely personal and spiritual level, not as the end of the world but as the end of you: your body, your mind and, if you're not careful, your soul. The film puts the viewer on the front lines of the eternal battle between good and evil, combining academic interviews with firsthand accounts of divine revelation to bring fresh urgency to the teachings of the world's major religions. Buddhist, Jew, Muslim, Hindi or Christian, the message is the same: spread love, reject hate, walk in the light, avoid the dark, listen to the angels, ignore the demons. The simplest choices you'll ever make lead to the hardest path you'll ever walk...

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the deepest recesses of the human imagination every human heart aches to fulfill the story of God. The battle of eternity burns in the hearts of humanity. The story has been etched by the creator of life on the eternal soul of mankind. The epic tale demands to be expressed by the created being. The yearning for good to triumph over evil is played out in the imaginations of men and women from the beginning of time until now. It is the archetypal battle of life and death and the stakes are eternal. The expression of the story takes on as many forms as there are human beings in the history of the world. The heart of man plays both sides of the story, reveling as the victorious warrior or feigning the dying breath of a sacrificial king. Men seek glory and the legacy of honor as they lay down their lives for the greater good. They go to war. They seek the Truth. They fall and fail. They rise again, always grasping and yearning for the answer of peace which they know in their hearts will fulfill the deepest longing of the soul. The human soul languishes in a prison of weak, abhorrent flesh, but in moments of strength and clarity the soul repents of rebellion and reaches for the grace of God, beating the flesh and forcing its stubborn will into submission. As the conscience of mankind is seared and numbed the soul falls away from the guiding Holy Spirit of God. Yet even in the darkest hour of gross negligence and unholy bondage the story is etched in one form or another in the heart and soul of every created being. It longs to be revealed and to realize the plan of redemption, the vanquishing of evil and the ultimate victory of eternal life over death. For this reason the thespian efforts of aspiring and inspiring actors in theatres of old and movies of modern day portray in the most realistic fashion possible the heroic adventures of men and gods. From the fairy tale prince to the sleeping princess; from the white knight on a white horse rescuing the damsel in distress to the brave and hearty warrior knight vanquishing the evil, fire-breathing dragon; all of them together seek the consummation of all conflict and the destruction of evil that they might engage in the ever elusive dream of happily ever after. This is the story of God whose ultimate will is that none should perish, but that all should come to a knowledge of the truth that they might be saved. Humanity recognizes this eternal structure of holiness, righteousness, peace and grace and they seek the authority of a benevolent authority to end all conflict but many seldom come to the knowledge of the truth that this archetypal desire that is written on our hearts comes from The God Almighty who created the universe, gave us His Word, revealed to us His will, died to win our love, and has a plan of redemption according to the good pleasure of His will. This plan exists in the Words of prophetic scripture and binds all of humanity to its consummation and to the total fulfillment of the destiny, our destiny, written on every single heart and soul for eternity. There has never been such a sure collection of signs indicating we are approaching the end of the age and entering into the last days of Bible Prophecy. Based on a historical and Biblical foundation, a deep look at the prophetic scriptures of the Bible coupled with deductive exegesis reveals a great deal about where the world stands today in the prophetic timeline and in what order the events of the last days unfold. In the Glorious Battle we discuss the order of prophetic events such as: the last seven years of this age, the great tribulation, the revealing of antichrist, the rapture of the church, and the return of Jesus Christ in power and glory. In the midst of these final moments in the history of this age every soul on earth will have to endure their own personal battle as they decide what to do with Jesus, The Word of God and the clear warnings of Jesus to watch for His return.

His comprehensive overview of its roots, its theological basis, and its political consequences is very timely. I myself believe that Zionism, both political and Christian, is incompatible with biblical faith. Stephen's book has helped to reinforce this conviction."--Rev. Dr. John Stott"I believe Stephen Sizer is one of the most authoritative scholars in the world on the vital issue of Christian Zionism. He is a very important voice speaking out against this destructive movement that is killing us [Palestinians] through its theology." --Canon Naim Ateek"Stephen Sizer's Christian Zionism: Road Map to Armageddon? is essential reading for any Western evangelical trying to understand the religious dimensions of American support for Israel. Sizer writes as an insider within the church, not as a critic watching from afar. And he shows with exacting clarity how evangelical eschatology has now embedded itself in a modern political ideology. One quick read of this book will change anyone's perspective on the Middle East permanently." --Professor Gary M. Burge"Congratulations on Christian Zionism. The index alone makes my mouth water, since this is the scholarly treatment to counteract the rabid prophecy pack for which I had been searching. I couldn't be happier that this is published. You and I see eye to eye on this issue. . . . Yours is a true prophetic voice so badly needed in the current prophecy frenzy. And when this mania also affects national and international policy, the danger takes on larger proportions."--Professor Paul Maier"Stephen Sizer's work on Christian Zionism is the most important and comprehensive on the subject to date and should be read by all students of the Middle East and by Christians concerned about a just resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Christian Zionism raises vital theological and political challenges that must be addressed head-on by Christians in the West, particularly evangelicals. The impact of this terribly misguided movement is increasingly putting Christians in the Middle East at risk, and it seems a far cry from the witness and message of Jesus Christ."--Dr Donald Wagner"This study of Christian Zionism, based on Stephen Sizer's doctoral thesis, is of seminal significance. It provides a fascinating survey of the history of Christian Zionism and an in-depth analysis of the theology of this highly important and influential movement."--Rabbi Professor Dan Cohn-Sherbok

Book excerpt: "Apocalypse" means revelation, unveiling, or appearing. The Book of Revelation is about Jesus, not about the antichrist. The Bible says these things will happen shortly, and the translation implies that they will happen quickly. Yes, the antichrist will appear, and yes, the earth will go into great tribulation, but our focus must be on the quick work Jesus will do bringing an end to this evil and the fact that we shall finally see Jesus as He is. Jesus was very clear about how to prepare for His second coming and the tribulation that would precede this event. The focus of this book is not on the evils and suffering of the tribulation, but on the only straightforward truth we need to know in order to overcome: the teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ. In this fresh, scriptural look at Jesus' return you will: *Discover the spiritual history of the world. *Understand how we have reached this place of darkness in world history. *Find out how religion took such a hold on the minds of the entire world. *Identify the spirit that is at work in the world and in the Church. *Understand the workings of Mystery Babylon. *Identify the apostate religion, the false christ, and the false prophet. *Learn the only way to prepare for what lies ahead. Unlike anything you have ever read about the return of Jesus. This book will end your confusion and fear, build your faith, and put on the mind of an overcomer! Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New York Times bestselling author and Bible expert Bart Ehrman reveals how Jesus’s divinity became dogma in the first few centuries of the early church. The claim at the heart of the Christian faith is that Jesus of Nazareth was, and is, God. But this is not what the original disciples believed during Jesus’s lifetime—and it is not what Jesus claimed about himself. How Jesus Became God tells the story of an idea that shaped Christianity, and of the evolution of a belief that looked very different in the fourth century than it did in the first. A master explainer of Christian history, texts, and traditions, Ehrman reveals how an apocalyptic prophet from the backwaters of rural Galilee crucified for crimes against the state came to be thought of as equal with the one God Almighty, Creator of all things. But how did he move from being a Jewish prophet to being God? In a book that took eight years to research and write, Ehrman sketches Jesus’s transformation from a human prophet to the Son of God exalted to divine status at his resurrection. Only when some of Jesus’s followers had visions of him after his death—alive again—did anyone come to think that he, the prophet from Galilee, had become God. And what they meant by that was not at all what people mean today. Written for secular historians of religion and believers alike, How Jesus Became God will engage anyone interested in the historical developments that led to the affirmation at the heart of Christianity: Jesus was, and is, God.

Book excerpt: Many people envisage Armageddon as a series of physical, cataclysmic occurrences that will occur at the close of the age. However, Antichrist was already active in the early Church. The apostle John wrote, "you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists [or people controlled by Antichrist] have come, by which we know that it is the last hour." 1 John 2:18. Since then, the Church has been subjected to attacks against her doctrinal truth and integrity by the intrusion of false doctrines, false ministries, lying signs and wonders, and all manner of deceit and deception, that has left her beset by apostasy and worldliness. This has left the Church spiritually dead and powerless as in the valley of dry bones in the thirty-seventh chapter of Ezekiel. However, the final chapter of the Church's history is not one of dismal defeat. In the fourteenth chapter of Zechariah, the prophet says that the Lord, [by His Spirit] will enter the conflict or Battle of Armageddon. He is pictured in Revelation 19, riding forth with the sword of truth in His mouth, with which to slay His enemies. Other prophecies portray the Two Witnesses [or the ministry of prophetic teaching] being restored, the glory of the Lord returning to the Church, Ezikiel's valley of dry bones coming to life, the latter rain of the Holy Spirit falling on the Church, cleansing the Church from all apostasy, and the utter defeat of Antichrist and the False Prophet. We are now beginning to see these signs of the Lord's intervention to restore His Church, and Isaiah beckons us to anticipate having a part in this coming time of restoration. Arise, shine; for your light has come! and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles [unbelievers] shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. Isa 60:1-3.

Book excerpt: Like Eugene Peterson's other books on pastoring, Under the Unpredictable Plant is full of stimulating insights, candid observations, and biblically grounded prescriptions. Yet this book emanates with a special poignancy out of Peterson's own crisis experience as a pastor. Peterson tells about the "abyss," the "gaping crevasse," the "chasm" that he experienced, early in his ministry, between his Christian faith and his pastoral vocation. He was astonished and dismayed to find that his personal spirituality, his piety, was inadequate for his vocation -- and he argues that the same is true of pastors in general. In the book of Jonah -- a parable with a prayer at its center -- Peterson finds a subversive, captivating story that can help pastors recover their "vocational holiness." Using the Jonah story as a narrative structure, Peterson probes the spiritual dimensions of the pastoral calling and seeks to reclaim the ground taken over by those who are trying to enlist pastors in religious careers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In her new book, award-winning journalist Marci McDonald draws back the curtain on the mysterious world of the right-wing Christian nationalist movement in Canada and its many ties to the Conservative government of Stephen Harper. To most Canadians, the politics of the United States — where fundamentalist Christians wield tremendous power and culture wars split the country — seem too foreign to ever happen here. But The Armageddon Factor shows that the Canadian Christian right — infuriated by the legalization of same-sex marriage and the increasing secularization of society — has been steadily and stealthily building organizations, alliances and contacts that have put them close to the levers of power and put the government of Canada in their debt. Determined to outlaw homosexuality and abortion, and to restore Canada to what they see as its divinely determined destiny to be a nation ruled by Christian laws and precepts, this group of true believers has moved the country far closer to the American mix of politics and religion than most Canadians would ever believe. McDonald’s book explores how a web of evangelical far-right Christians have built think-tanks and foundations that play a prominent role in determining policy for the Conservative government of Canada. She shows how Biblical belief has allowed Christians to put dozens of MPs in office and to build a power base across the country, across cultures and even across religions. “What drives that growing Christian nationalist movement is its adherents’ conviction that the end times foretold in the book of Revelation are at hand,” writes McDonald. “Braced for an impending apocalypse, they feel impelled to ensure that Canada assumes a unique, scripturally ordained role in the final days before the Second Coming — and little else.” The Armageddon Factor shows how the religious right’s influence on the Harper government has led to hugely important but little-known changes in everything from foreign policy and the makeup of the courts to funding for scientific research and social welfare programs like daycare. And the book also shows that the religious influence is here to stay, regardless of which party ends up in government. For those who thought the religious right in Canada was confined to rural areas and the west, this book is an eye-opener, outlining to what extent the corridors of power in Ottawa are now populated by true believers. For anyone who assumed that the American religious right stopped at the border, The Armageddon Factor explains how US money and evangelists have infiltrated Canadian politics. This book should be essential reading for Canadians of every religious belief or political stripe. Indeed, The Armageddon Factor should persuade every Canadian that, with the growth of such a movement, the future direction of the country is at stake.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since Eugene Peterson first wrote this spiritual formation classic nearly forty years ago, hundreds of thousands of Christians have been inspired by its call to deeper discipleship. As a society, we are still obsessed with the immediate; new technologies have only intensified our quest for the quick fix. But Peterson's time-tested prescription for discipleship remains the same—a long obedience in the same direction. Following Jesus in this way requires a deepening life of prayer, and throughout history Christians have learned to pray from the Psalms. Peterson finds encouragement for today's pilgrims in the Songs of Ascents (Psalms 120-134), sung by travelers on their way to worship in Jerusalem. With his prophetic and pastoral wisdom, Peterson shows how the psalms teach us to grow in worship, service, joy, work, happiness, humility, community, and blessing. This special commemorative edition of A Long Obedience in the Same Direction includes a new preface taken from Leif Peterson's eulogy at his father's memorial service.

Book excerpt: The expanded companion book to the #1 documentary film about 2012! The 2012 meme has evolved beyond any debates about the relevance of the Maya Long Count calendar to the lives of contemporary human beings. 2012 is about us on planet Earth at this time. December 21, 2012: will the world really change forever on this date, the end of a 5,125-year calendar last used over a thousand years ago? Certainly Hollywood would like you to think so. Indeed, a not-so-small industry has arisen around the date, hawking everything from t-shirts to teleseminars. Clearing a path between fantasy and reality, Alexandra Bruce surveys the entire 2012 landscape, asking questions such as: Is the Earth losing its Mojo? How did 2012 come to mean "The End of Time"? Did psychedelics facilitate the Maya "Cosmovision"? Should we worry about Earth Crustal Displacement? What the hell is "Planet X"? Uniquely amongst a vast array of 2012 literature, this book features interviews with the leading experts—including Graham Hancock, John Major Jenkins, Daniel Pinchbeck and many others—and insightful, detailed analysis of the broad spectrum of opinion, debate, research and myth regarding the most compelling "end times" prediction of the 21st century.
