Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In The Rapture: Biblical Fact or Man's Tradition, author Dr. Dena Stevens considers a subject called "rapture"-- pertaining to the end-times and embraced by many--to determine if it is actually taught in the Bible, or if it is only a tradition of men. The consequences of accepting or rejecting this doctrine are of such importance to the eternal, spiritual destiny of man that it is deserving of very close examination. Stevens goes back to the account at the beginning in Genesis, examining scriptural descriptions of God's divine plan for the world from both the Old and New Testaments, as well as His reasons for placing man on the earth in flesh bodies. She then takes an in-depth look into some of the areas that God's people have not understood and serves to clarify some questions we have often pondered, but for which we have found no real answers. Stevens examines future prophetic events of the end-times and man's role in them in order to answer the question of her study: is the rapture a doctrine taught in the Bible, or is it only a tradition that man has devised for his own comfort and salvation?

Book excerpt: Unfortunately, most of our modern day teachings on this most important doctrine are misleading, to say the very least. Bill Vincent has studied for years and now is releasing his findings in this book, The Rapture. A careful scrutiny of the Scriptures will reveal the truth about the second coming of Christ, which we generally refer to as "the rapture". In The Rapture, he has set out to correct the most obvious errors of the pre-tribulation doctrine and to establish the basic foundation for understanding the truth of the matter. Great care is taken to follow the guidelines of Scripture and the Biblical basis of doctrinal interpretation, precept upon precept and line upon line. This is the only method of interpretation used in the pages of The Rapture. Since God Himself revealed His method of understanding doctrine, it is believed by the author to be the best method to use. Therefore, with Bible in hand, follow along with the Scriptures quoted and see if you don't find truth within its pages. In The Rapture, Bill answers questions that many do not know the answers to. Be open and allow this page turner to open up the biggest controversial subject of the rapture of Jesus Christ. If you are a lover of truth, you will enjoy this very basic presentation of Biblical facts concerning the doctrine of the "gathering together" of Christ's saints unto Himself.

Book excerpt: The idea of "The Rapture" -- the return of Christ to rescue and deliver Christians off the earth -- is an extremely popular interpretation of the Bible's Book of Revelation and a jumping-off point for the best-selling "Left Behind" series of books. This interpretation, based on a psychology of fear and destruction, guides the daily acts of thousands if not millions of people worldwide. In The Rapture Exposed, Barbara Rossing argues that this script for the world's future is nothing more than a disingenuous distortion of the Bible. The truth, Rossing argues, is that Revelation offers a vision of God's healing love for the world. The Rapture Exposed reclaims Christianity from fundamentalists' destructive reading of the biblical story and back into God's beloved community.

Book excerpt: Where is Jesus when we need him most? An influential pastor shares how despair can lead us to discover true hope and a deeper relationship with God, helping us emerge stronger and more joyful from times of crisis. “May this careful look at pain in the context of Jesus’s life open up avenues of discovery and healing.”—Mindy Caliguire, cofounder and president of Soul Care We all experience difficulties and hardships. But how can we learn to live richly in the midst of them? And even grow spiritually because of them? The answer is found in the hopeful humanity of Jesus. As the Son of God, Jesus wasn’t exempt from suffering, disappointment, or injustice. He lived in the real world as a real person. He wept for those he loved. He felt hunger and thirst. He endured temptation, betrayal, and ridicule. He died after being unjustly tortured. And somehow through it all, he embodied hope—by defeating death and opening a new world of life for us. In Echoing Hope, influential pastor and blogger Kurt Willems reveals how understanding the humanity of Jesus can radically transform our identity and empower us to step into our pain-filled world in a new way. Combining rich theological insight with personal stories and practices for response, he shows how we can overcome despair and encounter the beautiful potential of our lives.

Book excerpt: One day while I was attending Brookside Baptist Church in Myrtle Springs, Texas, the pastor announced that starting the following Wednesday night service, he would begin an in-depth study on the rapture. The study would be titled 16 Reasons for a Pretribulation Rapture. That statement really piqued my curiosity. Having had studied the subject for an extended period of time over the years, I was amazed that someone could come up with that many reasons, so I joined the study the following Wednesday. After having received the handouts that evening, I began to take a critical look. I began to point out the errors in much of the reasoning behind the conclusions of that pastor. When the pages became numerous, I decided it was sufficient to be turned into a book. I felt this study should be examined by every believer. Many talk about salvation issues in Christianity. Many say the rapture is not one of them. That attitude alarms me. While ones belief on the rapture will not affect his salvation in itself, it will, without a doubt, become a stumbling block to being prepared to not receive the mark of the beast. Of that mark, the Bible says the one who receives that mark will have his fate sealed with the judgment of eternal damnation. If one is confident in a pretribulation rapture, he will be susceptible to dismissing the actual mark of the beast since he is convinced he will be taken out before that implementation. And for this cause, this book must be read!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus is coming soon, for all signs point to His arrival...again. The Last Days are upon us...again. The Great Tribulation is about to start...again. We will see the Lord coming in clouds of glory, for we are the last generation...again. Even before William Miller pronounced these kinds of tidings for 1843, and when it didn’t occur, he assured his followers it would happen on October 22, 1844; this refrain was common from Christians down throughout the ages. However, since the time of Miller, and especially since 1948, when the nation of Israel was given birth, the chorus of Christian voices proclaiming End-Times and Last-Days is a constant message. The problem, all those who have preached this since 70AD, have been wrong, always, 100% of the time. In the Revelation of Jesus, given to Saint John, he assures the seven Churches the time was near, it was in fact, at hand. The letter closes with the assurance of that fact, the Lord was coming soon, for Jesus states: “Surely I come quickly” (Revelation 22:20). So, that leaves us with two perplexing and bewildering conclusions. Jesus was wrong about His soon coming, and those who preach this, have also been preaching a tall tale, a cock-and-bull story. However, the early Christians did not believe what is being taught across today's pulpits concerning this teaching. They knew those events would happen in their lifetime, not 2,000 years in the future, they took Jesus at His word, and it saved their lives. In this book, you will find the doctrine believed by early Christians, and the reason the modern Last Days doctrine has always been wrong, and how it was fulfilled. You will also find the message taught by Jesus, and presented throughout the Holy Scriptures, hope and victory for Christ’s Church.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christ himself warns us to not to believe a secret rapture. Rapture will happen only after Israel becomes a Christian nation. Two olive trees and two lampstands, representatives of the church during tribulation. The church knows the times of his coming back. It’s not anti-Christ being withheld. Noah and Lot’s days, an evidence for public coming. The Day of the Lord will come as a thief even after the so-called secret rapture. Resurrection of the people of God and the end of the world will happen on the same day. The Second Advent accompanied by loud command, the voice, and the trumpet of God, and resurrection occurs at the same moment is a solid prove for the public coming. For the church, rapture day is not an immediate surprising day. Meaning of nobody knows the day or the hour. Meaning of the idiom of carcass and the vultures. The Day of the Lord is the day Paul awaits for the crown of righteousness. An immediate cosmic change occurs at the rapture. Rapture will be a visual event. Rapture will happen on the last day of human history. The second raw resurrection happens at the end of the tribulation. Our gathering unto him in the air will happen only after the man of lawlessness appear. The wedding of the Lamb occurs after tribulation. Surprising invitees. The earth, venue for the marriage supper of the Lamb - Such truths are being discussed in this book.

Book excerpt: The Year of the Rapture, a trilogy of fantasy, fiction and fact is . . . UNIQUE ! The fantasy section of "The Year of the Rapture," begins as the author takes an imaginary journey into heaven via a dream as a boy of eight. While there he morphs into an adult and finds himself viewing a strange scene on earth. Though curiosity and creativity are rampant throughout, the integrity of the scripture is maintained. COMPELLING ! The fiction portion of The Year of the Rapture reveals a town full of young adults, (headies) seeking a secular experience to satisfy their search for reality. Their reverie is hijacked by a few Christians whose reality wins! The story builds and explodes with three shocking events that lead to a dynamic conclusion, leaving the reader astonished and incredulous. INSIGHTFUL ! Fact, "The future is now," is a popular twenty first century phrase and could be a Biblical reality anytime. "Perhaps today," is another statement regarding the imminent return of the Lord Jesus. Being ready for that occasion is urged by God in scripture. Therefore, regarding the Rapture, a constant NOW is presented in the Bible and by the author. Dave Allan has had an inveterate career of ministry experience. His credentials as a director includes three organizations, seven youth enterprises, multiple church ministries, numerous missionary junkets abroad and two Christian college positions. He is a speaker, author, strategist, instigator, organizer and practical Biblicist. Special thanks to Val Lanade for his imagination, creativity and inspiration. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theological dictionaries are foundational to any theological library. But until now there has been no Global Dictionary of Theology, a theological dictionary that presumes the contribution of the Western tradition but moves beyond it to embrace and explore a full range of global expressions of theology. The Global Dictionary of Theology is inspired by the shift of the center of Christianity from the West to the Global South. But it also reflects the increase in two-way traffic between these two sectors as well as the global awareness that has permeated popular culture to an unprecedented degree. The editorial perspective of the Global Dictionary of Theology is an ecumenical evangelicalism that is receptive to discovering new facets of truth through listening and conversation on a global scale. Thus a distinctive feature of the Global Dictionary of Theology is its conversational approach. Contributors have been called on to write in the spirit of engaging in a larger theological conversation in which alternative views are expected and invited. William A. Dyrness, Veli-Matti Kärkkäinen, Juan F. Martinez and Simon Chan edit approximately 250 articles written by over 100 contributors representing the global spectrum of theological perspectives. Pastors, theological teachers, theological students and lay Christian leaders will all find the Global Dictionary of Theology to be a resource that unfolds new dimensions and reveals new panoramas of theological perspective and inquiry. Here is a new launching point for doing theology in today's global context.
