Book Synopsis Interactive Multiple Goal Programming by : J. Spronk
Download or read book Interactive Multiple Goal Programming written by J. Spronk and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 1. 1. Motivation This book is based on the view-tx)int that both public and private decision making, in practice, can often be ilrproved upon by means of fonnal (nonnative) decision nodels and methods. To sane extent, the validity of this statement can be measured by the irrpressive number of su=esses of disciplines as operations research and management science. Hcwever, as witnessed by the many discussions in the professional journals in these fields, many rrodels and methods do not completely meet the requirements of decision making in prac tice. Of all possible origins of these clear shortcomings, we main-· ly focus on only one: the fact that nost of these nodels and methods are unsuitable for decision situations in which multiple and possi bly conflicting objectives playa role, because they are concentra ted on the (optimal) fulfilment of only one objective. The need to account for multiple goals was observed relatively early. Hoffman [1955], while describing 'what seem to be the prin cipal areas (in linear prograrrrning) where new ideas and new methods are needed' gives an exanple with conflicting goals. In this pro blem, the assignrrent of relative weights is a great problem for the planning staff and is 'probably not the province of the mathemati cian engaged in solving this problem'. These remarks were true pre cursors of later develor:nents. Nevertheless, the need for methods dealing with multiple goals was not widely recognized until much later.

Emphasizing values such as empathy, self-reflection, and integrity, the volume is rooted in humanities work but also features contributions from fields as diverse as the performing arts, architecture, and evolutionary biology and represents settings beyond the college campus, such as schools, libraries, museums, and prisons. Book Synopsis The Fundamentals of Developing Operational Solutions for the Government by : Chiang H. Ren
Download or read book The Fundamentals of Developing Operational Solutions for the Government written by Chiang H. Ren and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2018-06-27 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Fundamentals of Developing Operational Solutions for the Government guides professionals on how to use operations research to solve problems and capture opportunities for government customers. The governments of modern democratic nations manage large complex societal operations to offer national defense, social services, infrastructure sustainment, law enforcement, monetary control, and other benefits for their citizens. The United States government alone spends over $1 trillion per year on these discretionary activities. Within all the spending, deliveries, and oversight, some operational needs require solutions to improve processes, architectures, technologies, and human factors. Without such effective and comprehensive solutions, the most eloquent proposal for government work could end in defeat and the most well-funded government programs could yield operational disruptions and performance failures. There are many books on how to write winning proposals to the government, but this book places winning in the context of deeply understanding government operations and innovatively solving government problems. There are also some books on convincing the government to adopt new transformational processes, but this book seeks to first try to fix current government processes before demanding risky transformation. Finally, there are massive tomes dedicated to the theories and mathematical models of operations research, but this book is devoted to making operations research simple enough for professionals to apply throughout the course of developing proposals and delivering products and services. Presenting the methods and techniques for quickly developing solutions is thus the central focus.
Book Synopsis How to Get Government Contracts by : Olessia Smotrova-Taylor
Download or read book How to Get Government Contracts written by Olessia Smotrova-Taylor and published by Apress. This book was released on 2013-01-30 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to Get Government Contracts demystifies the process of how a company can enter the government market, win its first and subsequent contracts, and then grow itself into a multi-million-dollar government contractor within a couple of years. It offers an insider’s view into the latest best practices that government contractors use to succeed in an increasingly competitive market, and it shows exactly how your company can apply these techniques to build a strong business. Many companies venture into the government market with a certain naiveté and pay a hefty price to find out that there is much more to winning a contract than writing last-minute proposals in response to publicly posted solicitations. To stop the bleeding of precious resources, they need to step back to learn how professionals win business in the federal arena. This book shows you how to find, for example, the best potential customers and opportunities for your company. It also explains the secret to winning consistently by conducting pre-proposal preparation (also called "capture") and practicing a disciplined, process-based approach to proposal development. This book provides a recipe for winning government contracts over and over again, the way seasoned government contractors do it. After reading this book, you will know exactly what to do to position your company to win a government proposal before a solicitation becomes public, including building customer relationships, gathering intelligence, developing a "win strategy," performing competitive analysis, selecting the best teammates, and developing a solution. As a result, you will apply professional techniques to organizing your proposal effort, outlining a proposal document, and writing RFPs that persuade evaluators to award the contract to you.
Book Synopsis Ask The Sales Coach-Practical Answers to the Questions Sales People Ask Most by : Susan A. Enns
Download or read book Ask The Sales Coach-Practical Answers to the Questions Sales People Ask Most written by Susan A. Enns and published by B2B Sales Connections Inc.. This book was released on 2019-02-20 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contrary to the popular belief, sales people don’t rely on “the gift of the gab” to be successful. Actually, the opposite is true. The best sales professionals spend far more time asking and listening than they do talking and selling. They ask questions of their customers; they ask questions of their colleagues, and they ask questions of their managers. If Oxford defines curiosity as the strong desire to know or learn something, then by that definition, sales people are curious by nature. In fact, that’s how sales professionals learn to be professional in the first place. This is a collection of practical answers to questions sales people ask most. Written by Susan A. Enns, a professional sales coach with a proven track record of sales excellence over her 30 plus year career. Her accomplishments include consecutively being the top sales rep in Canada, managing the top sales branch, and achieving outstanding sales growth in a national channel sales organization. She has written several books about sales and sales management and has created numerous automated sales tools. Her work has been published in several locations numerous times and has sold on five separate continents. As such, over the years, Susan has been asked many questions by many sales people. After a while, she saw that sales people, regardless of their experience, the products they sell, the industries in which they operate, or the countries where they sell, all share similar curiosities. In other words, although the wording may be different when asked in an email or when asked in person, sales people all ask the same questions, the most common of which are answered in this ebook. As the old saying goes, the only stupid questions are the ones unasked. As a sales professional, you should never be afraid to “Ask the Sales Coach” because you will learn so much from the answers! - "Susan really knows the selling world. She's honest, articulate, bright, giving, highly competent, personable and a top professional. Welcome her. It's the right thing to do." - "Our company hired Susan as our sales coach. She has helped me make more appointments, close more deals and make more money. The 3 most important concepts in sales. I would recommend any sales force hire her to help boost business sales". - "Susan ...understands the sales process intimately and is able to create a management process around it that drives sales people to accomplish their goals." - "Susan knows her stuff. She brings many years of great sales experience and success to anyone who wished to improve their skills in sales. She is very personable, and is not afraid to tell it like it is. I would recommend anyone (and I have) to Susan, her website, her books if you want to become a better sales person." - “Thanks for the training… I made my quota this year in May!”
Book Synopsis Ideas and Options in English for Specific Purposes by : Helen Basturkmen
Download or read book Ideas and Options in English for Specific Purposes written by Helen Basturkmen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-03-14 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents a range of views about language, learning, and teaching in English for Specific Purposes (ESP). Its purpose is to go beyond individual cases and practices to examine the approaches and ideas on which they are based. The aim is for readers to adopt an analytical stance toward the field and to identify current perspectives in ESP and the ideas driving them. Ideas and Options in English for Specific Purposes does not promote any one approach, but rather identifies and illustrates those in evidence today. The main emphasis is on the links between theory and ESP teaching and research. Ideas from linguistics, sociolinguistics, education, SLA, and social theories are described. Links are then made between these ideas and ESP course designs, instructional materials, and research projects. Thus the book moves back and forth between descriptions of theories, teaching practice, and research. Part I introduces the book's approach to description of ESP and the framework used to investigate it. Part II examines ideas of language, learning, and teaching in ESP. Recognizing that ESP is taught in many different countries and contexts, the author draws on a wide range of examples of teaching practice and research from around the world and from different branches of ESP, including English for Academic Purposes, English for Professional Purposes, and English for Vocational Purposes. From Chapter 3 onward, each chapter includes Questions for Discussion and Projects, to encourage readers to research and analyze the practices of ESP in their own contexts and to consider the ideas they draw on in their own teaching. This text is geared toward graduate-level TESOL education courses.
Book Synopsis Knowledge Transfer by : Calixto P. Anaya
Download or read book Knowledge Transfer written by Calixto P. Anaya and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-09-19 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Your companys Intellectual capital is the unique knowledge and skills your senior employees have gained through many years of experience. This intellectual capital will begin to dissipate as senior experienced employees retire or resign. The question you may want to ask is how can you capture, transfer, and preserve your companys intellectual capital before your senior experienced employees retire. Today, many companies are implementing ways to capture and transfer the skills and knowledge gained by senior employees to younger employees. Without a process in place, younger employee will take longer to competently perform the job left vacant by the retiring experienced employees. Without adequate knowledge capture and transfer between employee generations, companies experience depletion in intellectual capital and knowledge assets. This book describes a Knowledge Transfer (KT) Program that incorporates training and development strategies I have used throughout my professional career as an Instructional System Development (ISD) practitioner. The strategies embedded in the knowledge transfer program, when implemented as designed, will enable your company to transfer the knowledge & skills of your senior employees to the next generation of junior employees in four years. Once you achieve the KT Program goals, you can suspend the program if existing programs are able to maintain the achieved employee competence levels. If it is evident that existing programs will not be able to maintain the employee competence levels, I recommend that you integrate KT Program components describe in the book into existing programs. The processes, procedures, and tools describe in this book have been proven to work through extensive use in actual knowledge transfer situations involving industrial and professional disciplines. The processes, procedures, and tools are highly user friendly, utilize current word processing technologies, and can be easily integrated into existing automated processes if so desired.
