In essence, it chronicles the adventures of Li (the princess) and Aramis (a young Greek rogue) as they continue their travels together. Li now has the magical tears of Hathor that she wishes to take back to China to reverse the curse that has been placed on the kingdom and her father. In this book, the two meet a magi and his tribe, who have also been looking for the tears. They make friends with them and help them use some of the tears to rescue a pharaoh who has been trapped in a cursed pyramid. They then plan to go back to China, but their trip back takes them to a Greek island where Aramis meets an old friend who wants him to join him in fighting the Ottomans who have been sweeping through the lands. Li feels he should stay to fight with his countrymen and leaves on her own for China. Aramis tries to follow her but is captured by the Ottomans and imprisoned in Aku. Meanwhile, Li returns to China and saves her father, but she becomes heartbroken as she misses Aramis. Zheng, the young prince who takes over for the emperor when he dies, falls in love with Li, but Li does not want to marry him. What then occurs is a series of adventures in which Li becomes entrapped and Aramis escapes from his prison and finds a way to China, where he rescues Li.

She and her sister, Chartreuse (Emma's irritating mother from the other books) are vying to see who will get the family's inherited magical skills as they navigate the intricacies of being a princess in a magical kingdom-a bevy of mostly terrible would-be suitors, a father who becomes a ghost, a mother who changes from a stressed, but semi-normal human to a selfish witch, and the arrival of some terrible werewolves. When Grassina finds and falls in love with a wizard-in-training, Haywood, and invokes the wrath of her sister, it is the werewolves, who despite their evil ways, bring about Grassina's change from mortal princess to Green Witch powers. Every bit as funny and satisfying as the other stories!

Book excerpt: Prince Wenceslas would much rather be at home in his castle than wandering the world looking for enchanted princesses. Unfortunately, he has less than a month to fulfill a "gift" set upon him at birth by a drunken fairy godmother. If he can't rescue a princess--any princess--from a spell and marry her by his seventeenth birthday, he'll prick his finger on a glass coffin and fall into an eternal sleep that can only be broken by true love's kiss. Given that he doesn't have a true love, his options seem pretty limited. Marrying a stranger can't be worse than sleeping forever--or so he thinks until he meets Arrow, a club-wielding sorceress whose magic constantly goes awry. She convinces him that he doesn't have to let any magic, fairy godmother or otherwise, run his life. Wenceslas sets out with Arrow to look for a princess he might actually want to marry. A magic forest, a witch who collects frog princes, and love potions are only a few of the things standing in his way, but Wenceslas soon finds that what hinders him most isn't any magic...it's his own heart.

Vividly imagined scenes of action, romance, and political intrigue are seamlessly woven together to reveal a richly created world . . . and Sleeping Beauty as she's never been seen before. One hundred years after falling asleep, Princess Aurora wakes up to the kiss of a handsome prince and a broken kingdom that has been dreaming of her return. All the books say that she should be living happily ever after. But as Aurora understands all too well, the truth is nothing like the fairy tale. Her family is long dead. Her "true love" is a kind stranger. And her whole life has been planned out by political foes while she slept. As Aurora struggles to make sense of her new world, she begins to fear that the curse has left its mark on her, a fiery and dangerous thing that might be as wicked as the witch who once ensnared her. With her wedding day drawing near, Aurora must make the ultimate decision on how to save her kingdom: marry the prince or run.

Book excerpt: Dear Reader— Seductive and mysterious, Merlyn was the laird of Ravensmuir—never had a man so stirred my body and soul. I gave myself to him—willingly, trustingly, passionately—and we soon wed. Then a horrible revelation emerged, shattering my innocence and my marriage… Five years later, Merlyn returned to my doorstep, desperate for my help. The scoundrel swore he was haunted by memories of me, that a treasure locked in Ravensmuir could clear his name. Yet I could not surrender to his will again. Now he is said to be murdered and Ravensmuir has fallen into my hands. But even as I cross the threshold of this cursed keep, I hear his whisper in the darkness, feel his caress in the night, and I know that Merlyn has told me but part of his tale. Should I do as is right and expose his lair? Or dare I trust my alluring but deceptive spouse—the rogue who destroyed my heart? —Ysabella * * * "A beguiling medieval romance from Delacroix…readers will devour this rich and compulsively readable tale."—Publishers Weekly "An engaging tale of lost love found!"—Booklist "Merlyn is a delightfully charming rogue, Ysabella an admirable heroine, and the mystery just intriguing enough to keep you interested. Ms. Delacroix evokes the era, providing us with an accuate portrait and an enchanting tale—just what readers expect from this talented author."—Romantic Times Bookclub “Claire Delacroix always manages to create spellbinding magical stories that enthrall readers and keep them coming back for more. With her newest release, The Rogue, she does it again. If you loved Claire Delacroix’s Bride Quest books, then you don’t want to miss reading The Rogue. If you have never read a Claire Delacroix book before, this is the perfect book to start with. It will add a little spice and romance to your life this holiday season and have you wondering where Claire’s books have been all your life.”—Writers Unlimited “The Rogue, a gothic medieval romance, is an intriguing tale of deception upon deception with all the ingredients to make for a delightfully spooky read.”—Romance Reviews Today “Rich historical details, unusual plot-line, witty repartee, simmering romantic tension and violent intrigue surrounding the hunt for a mysterious and priceless treasure – all contributed to make this book one inspiring and exciting read! A gripping story with fascinating characters, lush sensuality and a page-turning plot! A gem!”—ARomanceReview.com “This tale of secrets, the lies told to perpetuate those secrets, and the ultimate outcome when all truths are revealed, is deep, complex and well-written.”—Old Book Barn Gazette “Powerful medieval drama…highly recommended!”—WordWeaving.com “Very, very beguiling. The Rogue has almost a gothic feel to it, a throwback to historical romantic mysteries that mystified and beguiled readers with little effort (but much cunning on the author’s part). No forgery this: religious artifacts may oft have questionable provenance, but Ms. Delacroix’s roguish heroes are compellingly genuine…and just a little bit dangerous to know.”—Heartstrings “Ms. Delacroix is extremely gifted in creating wonderfully three-dimensional characters, as well as intriguing plots and sub-plots. And The Rogue offers that and a myriad of themes for the reader in this tale of long ago love. Within the pages, the reader finds mystery, love gained and lost, then found again, and feels the weight of the burden of guilt and deceit, not matter how well intentioned. A perfect mix of dialog and narrative give this wonderful tale its momentum and an excitement that doesn’t let up until the very end.”—The Road to Romance * * * Claire has written numerous books featuring the Lammergeier family and set in her fictional medieval Scottish realm of Ravensmuir, Kinfairlie and Ravensmuir.
