Book Synopsis Hadron Form Factors by : Alexander Khodjamirian
Download or read book Hadron Form Factors written by Alexander Khodjamirian and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-03-13 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces the phenomenology and theory of hadron form factors in a consistent manner, deriving step-by-step the key equations, defining the form factors from the matrix elements of hadronic transitions and deriving their symmetry relations. Explained are several general concepts of particle theory and phenomenology exemplified by hadron form factors. The main emphasis here is on learning the analytical methods in particle phenomenology. Many examples of hadronic processes involving form factors are considered, from the pion electromagnetic scattering to heavy B-meson decays. In the second part of the book, modern techniques of the form factor calculation, based on the method of sum rules in the theory of strong interactions, quantum chromodynamics, are introduced in an accessible manner. This book will be a useful guide for graduate students and early-career researchers working in the field of particle phenomenology and experiments. Features: • The first book to address the phenomenology of hadron form factors at a pedagogical level in one coherent volume • Contains up-to-date descriptions of the most important form factors of the electroweak transitions investigated in particle physics experiments

Book Synopsis Functional Analysis and Optimization Methods in Hadron Physics by : Irinel Caprini
Download or read book Functional Analysis and Optimization Methods in Hadron Physics written by Irinel Caprini and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-04-25 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book begins with a brief historical review of the early applications of standard dispersion relations in particle physics. It then presents the modern perspective within the Standard Model, emphasizing the relation of analyticity together with alternative tools applied to strong interactions, such as perturbative and lattice quantum chromodynamics (QCD), as well as chiral perturbation theory. The core of the book argues that, in order to improve the prediction of specific hadronic observables, it is often necessary to resort to methods of complex analysis more sophisticated than the simple Cauchy integral. Accordingly, a separate mathematical chapter is devoted to solving several functional analysis optimization problems. Their applications to physical amplitudes and form factors are discussed in the following chapters, which also demonstrate how to merge the analytic approach with statistical analysis tools. Given its scope, the book offers a valuable guide for researchers working in precision hadronic physics, as well as graduate students who are new to the field.

Book Synopsis Exclusive Reactions at High Momentum Transfer by : A. V. Radyushkin
Download or read book Exclusive Reactions at High Momentum Transfer written by A. V. Radyushkin and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2008 with total page 453 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Exclusive reactions are becoming one of the major sources of information about the deep structure of nucleons and other hadrons. The 2007 International Workshop held at Jefferson Lab in Newport News, Virginia, USA ? the world's leading facility performing research on nuclear, hadronic and quark-gluon structure of matter ? focused on the application of a variety of exclusive reactions at high momentum transfer, utilizing unpolarized and polarized beams and targets, to obtain information about nucleon ground-state and excited-state structure at short distances. This is a subject which is central to the programs of current accelerators and especially planned future facilities. This proceedings volume contains, in concentrated form, information about the newest developments, both theoretical and experimental, in the study of hard exclusive reactions.
Book Synopsis Quantum Systems: New Trends And Methods - Proceedings Of The International Workshop by : Asim Orhan Barut
Download or read book Quantum Systems: New Trends And Methods - Proceedings Of The International Workshop written by Asim Orhan Barut and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995-02-21 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum systems in all areas of physics, from atomic and molecular physics, nuclear and particle physics to condensed matter and astrophysics, provide a rich mosaic of different structures. Yet there are some simple and universal working principles of nature which seem to govern these structures and manifest themselves in various forms, as well as likely hypothetical ones which might do the same. For example, the same symmetry group structure occurs again and again in optics, atomic physics and particle physics. Concepts like potential, phases, bound states, tunneling, interference, solitons, radiation and resonance are universal. It is for those reasons that a collection of recent works in the many areas of physics on quantum structures and the methods for their investigation is important. The present volume fulfills this task to a large extent. The contributions are wide-ranging and yet there is a certain continuity. The main topics, namely non-perturbative methods in quantum theory, quantum nonlinear systems, quantum phases and magnetic monopoles, are covered by longer review articles and are enriched by many related contributions. It is also very appropriate that the corresponding mathematical methods, such as those for solving Schrödinger and relativistic wave equations, as well as those of algebra and group representations and analysis, are included in this volume.
Book Synopsis The Multifaceted Skyrmion by : Mannque Rho
Download or read book The Multifaceted Skyrmion written by Mannque Rho and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2010-01-18 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a sequel to the World Scientific volume edited by Gerald E Brown in 1994 entitled “Selected Papers, with Commentary, of Tony Hilton Royle Skyrme”. There has been a series of impressive developments in the application of the skyrmion structure to wide-ranging physical phenomena. The first volume was mainly focused on the rediscovery of the skyrmion in 1983 in the context of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) and on its striking role in nuclear physics. Since 1994, skyrmions have been found to play an even greater role not only in various aspects of particle physics and astrophysics but also most remarkably in condensed matter physics. It is also proving to be fruitful in dense hadronic matter relevant to compact stars, a system difficult to access by other approaches. The recent discovery of holographic baryons in gravity/gauge duality which correspond to skyrmions in the infinite tower of vector mesons provides a valuable confrontation of string theory with nature, particularly in the regime of strong coupling that QCD proper has difficulty in accessing. This volume consists of contributions from the active researchers who have made important progress in these three areas of theoretical physics — condensed matter physics, nuclear and particle physics, and string theory.

Book Synopsis The Structure of the Nucleon by : Anthony W. Thomas
Download or read book The Structure of the Nucleon written by Anthony W. Thomas and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2010-11-17 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the only stable baryon, the nucleon is of crucial importance in particle physics. Since the nucleon is a building block for all atomic nuclei, there is a need to analyse the its structure in order to fully understand the essential properties of all atomic nuclei. After more than forty years of research on the nucleon, both the experimental and theoretical situations have matured to a point where a synthesis of the results becomes indispensable. Here, A.W. Thomas and W. Weise present a unique report on the extensive empirical studies, theoretical foundations and the different models of the nucleon. The appendices provide an extensive summary of formulae needed in practical calculations. From the contents: electromagnetic structure of the nucleon, weak probes of nucleon structure, deep inelastic lepton scattering on the nucleon; elements of QCD, aspects of non-perturbative QCD, Chiral Symmetry and nucleon structure, models of the nucleon
