Drawing on centuries of doctrine and tradition, he argues that the Church is the divinely appointed cornerstone of Christianity, uniquely empowered to interpret and steward the teachings of Christ. While his arguments may not convince non-Catholics, Pagani's erudition and careful reasoning make this an essential read for believers seeking a deeper understanding of their faith. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Straightforward answers about Roman Catholicism for a Protestant audience The Roman Catholic faith is one of the world's most widespread religious traditions, yet the unique aspects of Roman Catholicism elicit perennial questions from adherents and outsiders alike. Such questions tend to fall into three major categories: historical backgrounds, theological matters, and personal relationships. Using Catholic Church documents and the writings of Catholic scholars, Baptist systematic theologian Gregg R. Allison distills the teachings of Catholicism around forty common questions about Catholic foundations, beliefs, and practices. The accessible question-and-answer format guides readers to the areas of interest, including: Where do Roman Catholic and Protestant beliefs differ? What happens during a Roman Catholic Mass? How does Roman Catholicism understand the biblical teaching about Mary? Who are the saints and what is their role? How can my Roman Catholic loved ones and I talk about the gospel? 40 Questions About Roman Catholicism explores theology and practice, doctrine and liturgy, sacraments and Mariology, contributions and scandals, and many other things, clarifying both real and perceived differences and similarities with other Christian traditions.

Here it is - the first new Catechism of the Catholic Church in more than 400 years, a complete summary of what Catholics around the world commonly believe. The Catechism draws on the Bible, the Mass, the Sacraments, Church tradition and teaching, and the lives of saints. It comes with a complete index, footnotes and cross-references for a fuller understanding of every subject. The word catechism means "instruction" - this book will serve as the standard for all future catechisms. Using the tradition of explaining what the Church believes (the Creed), what she celebrates (the Sacraments), what she lives (the Commandments), and what she prays (the Lord's Prayer), the Catechism of the Catholic Church offers challenges for believers and answers for all those interested in learning about the mystery of the Catholic faith. The Catechism of the Catholic Church is a positive, coherent and contemporary map for our spiritual journey toward transformation.

The answer is of vital importance, for the eternal destiny of souls is at stake. This book attempts to examine the wide field of questions in dispute. It is not written in any spirit of disputation for disputation’s sake, or just to prove someone else is wrong, but that the truth as revealed in the Holy Scriptures, the Word of God, may be clearly seen. “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).

Book excerpt: This document's purpose is to spell out the Church's understanding of the nature of revelation--the process whereby God communicates with human beings. It touches upon questions about Scripture, tradition, and the teaching authority of the Church. The major concern of the document is to proclaim a Catholic understanding of the Bible as the "word of God." Key elements include: Trinitarian structure, roles of apostles and bishops, and biblical reading in a historical context.

Book excerpt: This book is a brief, chronological history of when and by whom, non-biblical ideas entered the Church and how those false ideas became official doctrines in what would emerge over the centuries as the Roman Catholic Church. These doctrines crystallized over the gradual abandonment of the exclusive authority of the Bible in the life of the Church by the establishment of doctrines based on human tradition. There is much pressure today by the Roman Catholic Church on Protestant Evangelicals of all persuasions, to set aside doctrinal differences and "evangelize together" so that the world will see a "united" Church. Yet the Bible clearly teaches that the Church of Jesus Christ is to be the pillar and foundation of the truth in the midst of society (1 Timothy 3:15). How can we abandon the truth for the sake of "unity" and think that we can actually accomplish God's will for His Church. Does the truth really matter? Ross Thomas Hindman served the Lord as a missionary in France from 1984 to 2006. In the early years he was involved in helping French Christians establish new churches and then later became the director of the Bethany Bible School in the heart of France. He also helped Brazilian missionaries begin a Bethany Bible School in Dakar, Senegal, West Africa. He continues his ministry of teaching in the French-speaking world as well as in the United States while continuing his missionary activities with Bethany International in helping develop mission schools in the least-reached nations. He received the Bachelor of Arts in Bible (Cum Laude) from Asbury College in 1980 and the Master of Divinity in Evangelism and Missions from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky in 1983. Married with three children and six grandchildren, he currently lives with his wife Ellen in Omaha, Nebraska.

Book excerpt: Into All Truth presents the basic beliefs of the Catholic Church, beginning with the Resurrection. That extraordinary event prompted Jesus' followers to reflect on his identity and mission, which in turn led them to see the one God as an eternal communion of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Good News of the Catholic Church is that God invites every man and woman into this communion. With extensive use of the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the documents of the Second Vatican Council, Into All Truthexplains clearly and succinctly the dogmas of the Catholic Church that flow from her faith in the Trinity. Each dogma is traced back to the faith of the first followers of Jesus, and its development over time is explored. Each chapter also outlines the implications of a given belief. The Resurrection, for example, has as much to say about human destiny as about the ultimate fate of Jesus. This book is intended for the general reader, Catholic and non-Catholic alike. An online study guide is available for use with this book. It is an ideal way for young adults, and older adults as well to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith. The online study guide can be found at .

Book excerpt: A learned and uniquely constructive book that gently urges "suspicious" Christians to reclaim the patristic roots of their faith. This is the first book of its kind meant to help Protestant Christians recognize the early church fathers as an essential part of their faith. Writing primarily to the evangelical, independent, and free church communities, who remain largely suspicious of church history and the relationship between Scripture and tradition, D. H. Williams clearly explains why every branch of today's church owes its heritage to the doctrinal foundation laid by postapostolic Christianity. Based on solid historical scholarship, this volume shows that embracing the "catholic" roots of the faith will not lead to the loss of Protestant distinctiveness but is essential for preserving the Christian vision in our rapidly changing world.
