Book Synopsis Polarized Beam Dynamics and Instrumentation in Particle Accelerators by : François Méot
Download or read book Polarized Beam Dynamics and Instrumentation in Particle Accelerators written by François Méot and published by Springer. This book was released on 2023-03-23 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Open Access book is drawn from lectures dispensed at the U.S. Particle Accelerator School (USPAS) Summer 2021 Spin Class, by experts in the field. It is an introduction to the dynamics of spin in charged particle accelerators, and to the accelerator components and spin manipulation techniques, including helical snakes and spin rotators, which enable and allow preserving beam polarization. It is aimed at graduate students or upper division undergraduate students with an interest in this multi-disciplinary field, which includes the future electron-ion collider at the Brookhaven National Laboratory, high energy lepton and proton collider projects, and other electric dipole moment search storage rings. It is also aimed at physicists or engineers working in accelerator-related fields who wish to familiarize themselves with spin dynamics and polarized beam concepts, tools, components, and purposes. This is an open access book.
Book Synopsis Deep Inelastic Positron-Proton Scattering in the High-Momentum-Transfer Regime of HERA by : Ulrich F. Katz
Download or read book Deep Inelastic Positron-Proton Scattering in the High-Momentum-Transfer Regime of HERA written by Ulrich F. Katz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-07-01 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About three decades after the first experiments on deep inelastic lepton hadron scattering began to investigate the structure of hadrons, the history of this fruitful field of particle physics continues in the broad spectrum of research performed at the electron and positron proton collider HERA at DESY, where the multipurpose detectors ZEUS and H1 access ep scattering at a center of mass energy of 300 GeV and explore as yet uncharted kinematic realms of deep inelastic scattering. After the first years of data taking at HERA, each of the experiments has collected a total of roughly 40 pb 1 of e+p data, yielding sensitivity to deep inelastic e+p interactions at high four momentum transfers, Q2, where typi cal cross sections drop into the subpicobarn regime. This kinematic domain is characterized by electroweak unification, manifesting itself most markedly in the neutral and charged current cross sections, which approach an equal order of magnitude as Q2 rises above the square of the W and Z masses. Consequently, HERA allows, for the first time, studies of both types of pro cesses simultaneously with the same initial state conditions and in the same detector, and thus we can investigate the interplay of electroweak and strong forces governing the respective cross sections.
Book Synopsis Workshop on Space Charge Physics in High Intensity Hadron Rings by : A.U. Luccio
Download or read book Workshop on Space Charge Physics in High Intensity Hadron Rings written by A.U. Luccio and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 1998-11-25 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main purpose of the proceedings of the Workshop on Space Charge Physics in High Intensity Hadron Rings was to review recent progresses and the current state of understanding of space charge related phenomena in high intensity hadron synchrotrons and accumulator rings, with special attention to new machines being considered (such as SNS, ESS, JHF, mu-Collider Driver...). Some of the questions posed were: - What are the experimental observations of high intensity effects? - What are the theoretical explanations and predictions? - What computer simulation codes are available?
