To us, he reveals the truth about himself and his Creation. We call the way God reveals his truth to us the divine pedagogy. The word "pedagogy" comes from a Greek word meaning "to lead the child." Likewise, God's own manner of leading us, his children, toward himself, is God's pedagogy. The General Directory for Catechesis (GDC) states, "Catechesis as communication of divine Revelation, is radically inspired by the pedagogy of God, as displayed in Christ and in the Church" (143). We are called to hand on the truths of the faith not merely by doing our best according to human standards of theology and educational methodology, but rather by echoing God's own way of teaching us his truths. Discover how God's pedagogy is -- Directed toward the individual human person Incarnational Relational Structured, systematic, and comprehensive Perpetual With each aspect of God's Divine pedagogy, psychologist and master catechist Dr. Joseph White provides a practical outline for structuring your own catechetical ministry. Let God lead you to a deeper understanding of how to pass on our Faith with the help of The Way God Teaches: Catechesis and the Divine Pedagogy.
Book Synopsis The Concept of God, the Origin of the World, and the Image of the Human in the World Religions by : P. Koslowski
Download or read book The Concept of God, the Origin of the World, and the Image of the Human in the World Religions written by P. Koslowski and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All religions make statements about God or the Absolute and about "the beginning": about the beginning of the world and the beginning and nature of the human person. Propositions about God, the human person, and the world, statements about God's eternity or process of becoming, about the status and nature of the human person as the "image of God", and about the beginning of the world are woven into "religious speculations about the beginning". The theology, anthropology, and cosmology of the world religions determine the image of the human person and the image of the world in the world cultures shaped by the different religions. They stand in a tense relationship with the anthropologies and cosmologies of modern science, which in turn challenge the religions to deepen their image of the human person. With this volume leading thinkers of Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam provide the reader with a first-hand source for understanding the five world religions and their teaching about God, the human person, and the origin of the world.

Book Synopsis An Emancipatory Pedagogy of Jesus by : Terrelle B. Sales
Download or read book An Emancipatory Pedagogy of Jesus written by Terrelle B. Sales and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2021-06-28 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An Emancipatory Pedagogy of Jesus: Toward a Decolonizing Epistemology of Education and Theology is an in-depth analysis on the emancipatory power of love exhibited and exemplified in the life, pedagogy, and praxis of Jesus Christ. This book takes its reader on an intellectual and spiritual journey that uncovers the importance of how culture, identity development, spirituality, and ethnicity are essential elements in the intellectual, academic, and spiritual development of Black, bi-cultural, and indigenous students, teachers, educational leaders, and researchers who have traditionally been oppressed and marginalized. It courageously presents Jesus Christ as the quintessential critical educator, who Himself was also bi-cultural, marginalized, and oppressed. This book provides a unique perspective on Jesus the Teacher. Oftentimes scholarship seeks to examine only the ethics and teachings of Jesus; however, this work looks to unearth the emancipatory power of the pedagogy of Jesus and its foundational contributions to social movements such as Liberation Theology in Latin America and the fight for Justice and Civil Rights for African Americans here in North America. By examining both the theological and pedagogical offerings of Jesus, this book seeks to determine not only what can be learned from a critical pedagogy of Jesus, but more importantly, who benefits most from engaging in His praxis. Through Jesus’ masterful integration of theology and pedagogy, He is presented as the literal embodiment of the spiritual, physical, and intellectual liberation from all forms of oppression. It is in Jesus’ emancipatory pedagogy where both theology and education find their greatest fulfillment through an emancipatory praxis for liberation, ultimately resulting in a pedagogy that reconciles humanity back to God and God to humanity.

Book Synopsis Teaching All Nations by : Mitzi Jane Smith
Download or read book Teaching All Nations written by Mitzi Jane Smith and published by Augsburg Fortress Publishers. This book was released on 2014 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: That Christian missionary efforts have long gone hand-in-hand with European colonization and American imperialist expansion. The role played in those efforts by the Great Commission the risen Christs command to teach all nations has more often been observed than analyzed. With the rise of European colonialism, the Great Commission was suddenly taken up with an eschatological urgency, often explicit in the founding statements of missionary societies; the differentiation of teachers and nations waiting to be taught proved a ready-made sacred sanction for the racialized and androcentric logics of conquest and civilization.
Book Synopsis The Human Image of God by : Hans-Georg Ziebertz
Download or read book The Human Image of God written by Hans-Georg Ziebertz and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2021-10-01 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new wave of religious energy is sweeping through the western nations. Although God is disappearing from religious discourse in western culture, both as a word and as a concept, there is a definite undercurrent of religious ardour, which is growing in strength. It focuses all the more attention on the issue: what or who is God in the modern era? This is the question examined through systematic studies, practical theology and empirical research, that are presented here through anthropologically relevant theology. Renowned international authors make it plain in this book: the question of God is exciting again! This book is published in honour of Johannes A. van der Ven on the occasion of his 60th birthday.
Book Synopsis Wouldn't You Love to Know? by : Ian W. Payne
Download or read book Wouldn't You Love to Know? written by Ian W. Payne and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2014-08-08 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With all the jumble of human disagreements, how can we know? Can the Christian church think coherently about knowledge? Can it regain confidence in teaching what it knows? In an increasingly divided and pessimistic postmodern world this book offers a theology for epistemology and for pedagogy that aims to be faithful and fruitful. Building on Karl Barth, it argues that God's knowing guides how humans know. We should imitate God's epistemic stance--his love--for that is the best model for knowing anything. The Trinitarian theme in Barth identifies three key concepts: committedness, openness, and relationality. These mean being committed and open towards what we wish to know. Relational open committedness also profoundly clarifies and shapes what love means in knowing and in teaching. This book unpacks an epistemology and pedagogy of love. Wouldn't you love to know?
Book Synopsis Tribals, Empire and God by : Zhodi Angami
Download or read book Tribals, Empire and God written by Zhodi Angami and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2017-04-06 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tribal biblical interpretation is a developing area of study that is concerned with reading the Bible through the eyes of tribal people. While many studies of reading the Bible from the reader's social, cultural and historical location have been made in various parts of the world, no thorough study that offers a coherent and substantive methodology for tribal biblical interpretation has been made. This book is the first comprehensive work that offers a description of tribal biblical interpretation and shows its application by making a lucid reading of Matthew's infancy narrative from a tribal reader's perspective. Using reader-response criticism as his primary method, Zhodi Angami brings his tribal context of North East India into conversation with Matthew's account of the birth of Jesus. Since tribal people of North East India see themselves as living under colonial rule, a tribal reader sees Matthew's text as a narrative that actively resists and subverts imperial rule. Likewise, the tribal experience of living at the margins inspires a tribal reader to look at the narrative from the underside, from the perspective of those who are sidelined, ignored, belittled or forgotten. Tribal biblical interpretation presented here follows a process of conversation between tribal worldview and Matthew's narrative. Such a method animates the text for the tribal reader and makes the biblical narrative not only more intelligible to the tribal reader but allows the text to speak directly to the tribal context.
Book Synopsis Pedagogy of the Bible by : Dale B. Martin
Download or read book Pedagogy of the Bible written by Dale B. Martin and published by Westminster John Knox Press. This book was released on 2008-01-01 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For generations, most seminary teaching of the Bible has focused on the historical-critical method. While this method has been the standard in almost every seminary curriculum, the effects of this approach to Scripture have hardly been examined. From examining the biblical studies courses at ten different seminaries and divinity schools, Dale Martin learned what faculties were doing and what students were hearing. This book presents his discoveries, offering the best-ever inside look at the teaching of the Bible for ministry. Going beyond mere description, Martin argues for a new emphasis on interpreting Scripture within the context of church history and theology. Such a reading would be more theological, more integrated into the whole theological curriculum, and more theoretical (as it would focus on what's at stake in interpretation); however, Martin surprisingly argues, it would be more practical at the same time.
