In 1704, St. Paul's parish, afterwards In Hanover county, was formed from St. Peter's. All persons, therefore, who trace their ancestry to Hanover, as well as those of New Kent descent, may find information of interest in the St. Peter's Register. As the Virginia Society of Colonial Dames will follow the Register with the publication of the Vestry Book of St. Peter's, a more detailed history of the parish is deferred. The copy from which this volume is printed was made, by permission of the trustees of the Virginia Theological Seminary, Alexandria county, Va from the original register now in the library of the Seminary.
