Book excerpt: Ms. genealogy of seven generations of the Thomas Oliver family, originally of Sussex, England, probably produced sometime after 1803, presumably by a member of the family, possibly in Massachusetts, where Thomas had settled around 1630, as one of the first Massachusetts Bay colonists. The eight genealogical tables trace family relationships back to Thomas' son, Peter, who was born in England around 1618, married to Sarah Newdigate, and died April 11, 1670 in Boston. The last table lists Thomas' great-great-great-great grandchildren, including George Watson Hutchinson, who took his degrees at Oxford, served as vicar of Tutbury, and died May 11, 1818. (Cf. Alumni Oxonienses, v. 5-8, 1715-1886.) Also included is a genealogy in table format entitled "Genealogy of the family of Oliver taken from Suffolk records", which traces family relationships from 1633 and 1637--the respective years in which Thomas' other sons, Nathaniel and Daniel, died--to 1725, the year Thomas' great-grandson, James, was born.
