Addressing topics like death and resurrection, Tozer attacks unorthodox views of the gospel and lifts up true, New-Testament Christianity. Christians often see death just like the world does: as the final chapter. Tozer seeks to fervently correct this grave error, which is so inconsistent with the testimony of Scripture. In these 39 editorials, Tozer passionately urges believers to express great things for the afterlife, giving our hearts joy and our lives power.

Book excerpt: Coaching has been established as a valuable continuing development tool in organizations for many years. Multiple studies of the effectiveness of coaching evidence the growing demand for coaching. However, the quality of the individual service frequently does not meet the original expectations. One essential reason for this discrepancy seems to be a rather vague understanding of what coaching is. Upon closer examination, you will find that coaching providers, coaching concepts, and internal pools of coaches in organizations refer to just about any type of “one-to-one” support of individual persons as coaching. The spectrum of services often covers training, therapy sessions, supervision initiatives and, frequently, also traditional consultation conversations. In light of this market development, calls for quality assurance measures for coaching are becoming increasingly louder. In many application areas, it seems to be time to take a closer look at coaching and place coaching as an established tool under scrutiny. This guideline will answer the following questions ► How can I establish a coaching concept for our employees? ► How can we improve the quality of our coaching offering? ► How can I provide sustainable high-quality coaching in my division? It also includes: ● An approach for the development of a coaching concept for your organization ● Tips and potential criteria for the selection of suitable, professional coaches and the establishment of a pool of coaches ● The description of the individual components of a high-quality coaching process as well as various templates for practical applications. Your benefits: ● You can establish an understanding of coaching in your organization: How coaching is implemented as an effective tool for performance and/or personal development that focuses on measurable results and is based on personal dialog. ● You know the approach and important aspects of establishing a pool of coaches from various providers (internal and external coaches), who demonstrably use coaching as a tool in a competent and impactful manner and thus fulfill the expectations of your company for the implementation of coaching. ● You can readily apply a quality assurance system that continuously ensures the high value of your coaching offering for your employee or team member and is therefore valued by the client.

Book excerpt: “Wealth without work Pleasure without conscience Science without humanity Knowledge without character Politics without principle Commerce without morality Worship without sacrifice. https://vidjambov.blogspot.com/2023/01/book-inventory-vladimir-djambov-talmach.html This book examines in detail the traditional teaching of the Orthodox Church about the various stages of the posthumous life of the soul. The famous Orthodox French theologian Jean-Claude Larchet tried to present in as much detail as possible the Orthodox doctrine of death and resurrection and to make due clarifications to the controversial issues discussed with representatives of other Christian denominations (about purgatory, prayer for the dead and for the veneration of saints) or in the bosom of Russian theology itself (about apocatastasis or aerial ordeals).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study provides a historical analysis of Freudenthal’s didactic ideas and his didactic career. It is partly biographical, but also contributes to the historiography of mathematics education and addresses closely related questions such as: what is mathematics and where does it start? Which role does mathematics play in society and what influence does it have on the prevailing views concerning its accompanying didactics?. Hans Freudenthal (1905–1990), professor in mathematics, scientist, literator, but above all mathematics-educator, was inextricably linked to the changes which took place in mathematics education and didactics during the second half of the last century. His diversity as a scientist and his inexhaustible efforts to establish the didactics of mathematics as a seriously pursued science, made Freudenthal's influence in this area considerable. He foresaw an essential, practical role for mathematics in everyone’s life, encouraging students to discover and create mathematics themselves, instead of imposing a ready-made mathematical system. The theory of mathematics education thus developed in the Netherlands would gain world fame in the following decades. Today, in the light of the discussions about mathematics education, in which the call for `genuine’ mathematics instead of the so-called 'kindergarten'-mathematics can be heard, Freudenthal's approach seems to be passé. However, the outcome of this study (which is mainly based on documents from Freudenthal’s vast personal archive) shows a more refined picture. The direct identification of 'kindergarten'-mathematics with Freudenthal’s view on mathematics education is not justified. 'Realistic mathematics' as advocated by Freudenthal includes more than just a practical introductory and should, among other things, always aim at teaching 'genuine' mathematics in the end.

Book excerpt: Last and First Men is a "future history" science fiction novel, describing the history of humanity from the present onwards across two billion years and eighteen distinct human species, of which our own is the first. Conception of history follows a repetitive cycle with many varied civilizations rising from and descending back into savagery over millions of years, as the later civilizations rise to far greater heights than the first. It is an early example of the fictional supermind; a consciousness composed of many telepathically linked individuals.

Book excerpt: From the simple assertion that "words matter" in the study of visual art, this comprehensive but eminently readable volume gathers an extraordinary selection of words—painters and sculptors writing in their diaries, critics responding to a sensational exhibition, groups of artists issuing stylistic manifestos, and poets reflecting on particular works of art. Along with a broad array of canonical texts, Sarah Burns and John Davis have assembled an astonishing variety of unknown, little known, or undervalued documents to convey the story of American art through the many voices of its contemporary practitioners, consumers, and commentators. American Art to 1900 highlights such critically important themes as women artists, African American representation and expression, regional and itinerant artists, Native Americans and the frontier, popular culture and vernacular imagery, institutional history, and more. With its hundreds of explanatory headnotes providing essential context and guidance to readers, this book reveals the documentary riches of American art and its many intersecting histories in unprecedented breadth, depth, and detail.

Book excerpt: This fully updated and expanded third edition is a reference guide on nutrition and its clinical implications for health and disease through the life-cycle. The book endeavors to address the needs of those who would most benefit from up-to-date information on recent advances in the field of nutrition. Written by experts in the field, chapters cover a diverse range of nutritional areas that present a succinct overview of recent thinking and discoveries that have the greatest capacity to aid physicians and other healthcare professionals in improving the nutritional health of their clients. The text is divided into eight parts. Part one and two address the nutrient requirements and special nutrition-related issues for people across all stages of the lifespan—from pregnancy and infancy through the adolescent years to the older adult years. Part three summarizes the role of nutrition in the prevention and management of chronic conditions frequently seen in clinical practice, including obesity, diabetes, bone disorders, coronary heart disease, hypertension, and cancer. Part four describes different dietary patterns (the Mediterranean diet, the DASH diet, the vegetarian diet, and the ketogenic diet). Part five describes nutrition challenges specific to surgery and several different acute diseases and disorders (gastrointestinal disorders, food allergy and intolerance, diseases of the liver and pancreas, kidney disease, eating disorders, bariatric surgery, sarcopenia, and drug interactions with food). Part six looks at different aspects of the diet (coffee, tea, dietary fat, dietary sugars, energy drinks, alcohol, dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals, and the gut microbiome). Part seven examines a range of factors that influence dietary health decisions (creating nutritional behavior change, methods for assessing nutritional status, Dietary Reference Intakes, an overview of the diet and food guides, food labels, and sources of nutrients). Finally, part eight looks at dietary supplements (including the problem of dishonest marketing) and false and misleading information in the area of nutrition. The growing nutritional impact of COVID-19 is discussed throughout the book where appropriate. Nutrition Guide for Physicians and Related Healthcare Professions Third Edition serves as a comprehensive guide that is organized by age/lifespan, nutrition therapy in relation to chronic disease and COVID, diet and its role in prevention, dietary requirements and recommendations, and influencing health decisions for the patient. It is a valuable resource of practical and easy-to-access information on nutrition for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and others in their daily practice.
