Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pomeranians are one of the toy breeds, but they pack a lot of personality into those little frames. With an appearance like a stuffed toy lion, it is easy to see why they have been so popular for so long. Their intelligence makes them incredibly entertaining to train and great companions.

These inquisitive little pups make fantastic watch dogs, even if their size makes them bad guard dogs. Most of the time they will be content to play with you or lounge around with you after a long day. Moderate exercise is absolutely essential for this toy canine, but because of the small stature, long walks are not necessary. A nice 30-minute walk or some dedicated indoor play time is all that is required to keep them fit and healthy.

This guide will walk you through the in's and out's of owning this phenomenal breed. Whether you're someone playing with the idea of getting a Pom, or have already embarked on your journey with your pup, this guide will offer an insight into how to create a happy and fulfilling life for you and your Pomeranian. This book will answer all your questions such as:

  1. Is a Pomeranian the right dog for me?
  2. I brought my Pom home. What now?
  3. How can I best train my Pomeranian?
  4. What are some common mistakes should I avoid?

Topics covered in the book include:
  1. Loud Little Charmers – the Defining Characteristics
  2. Breed History and Characteristics
  3. The Ideal Home
  4. Finding Your Pomeranian
  5. Preparing for Your Puppy
  6. The First Week
  7. The First Month
  8. Housetraining
  9. Socialization and Experience
  10. Being a Puppy Parent
  11. Living with other dogs
  12. Training You Pomeranian Puppy
  13. Basic Commands
  14. Nutrition
  15. Grooming – Productive Bonding
  16. Basic Health Care
  17. Health Concerns
  18. Your Aging Pomeranian

Pomeranians have a fairly long history, and many famous people throughout history favored this adorable little canine, people such as Mozart and Queen Victoria. Their long history with humans means that they can be more in tune with your emotions than some other breeds. As a result, they can help you feel better when you are down or they can share in your happiness.

You will need to plan to socialize your little Pomeranian, as well as train them. They are intelligent and can be stubborn, so you will need to have a firm and consistent approach.

These little loves can live up to 15 years, which means that with the right training, you can have a fantastic companion for a very long time. Their love for attention means that they will be more than happy to be with you, and learning and doing tricks to keep from getting bored.

Book excerpt: Brand new to Amazon If you are looking for a book about Pomeranians that goes above and beyond, you've found it. This incredible 372-page tome dives into every aspect needed to raise a happy, self-confident, well-behaved, and healthy Pomeranian. Each action you take, decision you make, and even the words you say have an impact on your Pomeranian. This book explores every relevant topic with an emphasis on concise information and practical advice that never leaves you wondering 'what next?' You'll be armed with the knowledge you need for all elements affecting your Pom directly or indirectly through every phase of life; from puppyhood through adulthood and into the senior years. Learn about the Pomeranian with size and structural variations, show vs. pet Poms, personality (and how your actions help shape it), color, intelligence, and more. If you're just now bringing a Pom home, this book will guide you with introductions to home & family, how to handle nighttime crying, setting up your Pom's area, early desensitization, and more. This book is tailored to your Pomeranian; shy or hyper, clingy or a bit too independent, a dog that jumps up on visitors or hides behind furniture when the doorbell rings. Every behavioral quirk that may manifest (26 sections) is in this massive book, including a comprehensive section on separation anxiety to give your Pom the gift of self-confidence and security while you're away from home. The grooming chapter (10 sections) is extensive, with a schedule of tasks, a breakdown of each, step-by-step bathing, the importance of proper drying, brushing (puppy and adult), tangles, coat products, nail clipping (with photos), tear stains, and more. The coat is one of this breed's most defining features; this Pomeranian book covers it all with puppy to adult coat transitions, trimmings, shedding, and fur loss issues with home remedies to help restore the coat. The training sections are exceptional with step-by-step instructions to curb barking (every single barking scenario along with training for each), heeling alongside you, meet & greets with other dogs, nipping, humping, begging, over-zealous licking, command training, instilling proper hierarchy, socialization and desensitization, and much more. Feeding and nutrition (10 sections) is explored in full, with advice vital to your Pomeranian's short and long-term health, as well as female topics (including full pregnancy, whelping, and 'breeding for color' info), body part specific care, and house training (9 sections; ensuring fast success with no stone left unturned). The Exercise & Activity chapter covers requirements, fun things to do, dog park safety, weather-related adjustments, and much more. This book doesn't slow down for a moment, with incredibly extensive health information (30+ sections) covering every issue the Pomeranian is prone to, conditions that affect toy breeds, and relevant issues seen with canines in general, including an outstanding allergy chapter. Never second-guess yourself, wondering what to do. Within this Pomeranian care book are the results of two puppy-growth studies of 249 Pom puppies that tracked first-year weights, comprehensive owner survey results exploring appearance, behavior, and health of 3,695 Pomeranians, statistics regarding life expectancy, and an entire chapter dedicated to keeping your Pom safe. Throughout this book are sidebars, charts, beautiful photos (b&w), and supplemental aids. Contributors include several top reputable AKC Pomeranian breeders and author and trainer Faye Dunningham who provides special-edition training sections. We hope you're excited to begin the journey of learning more about your Pom and providing the very best of care. Let's get started!

Sadly, Timothy Fuller is too old and infirm to continue caring for his beloved Pomeranian, Stewie, who is also elderly. But finding Stewie a new home has been challenging. Fortunately, Liz Denton and her son, Ben, are on the case. With two beagles and a calico currently residing under their roof, they’re always ready to provide care in an emergency. But a rival rescue group is already there when they show up at the Fuller house—along with a nurse and Mr. Fuller’s sour-faced son. After an unpleasant argument, they reschedule the pickup for later. But by the time she gets back, Stewie is an orphan. Mr. Fuller has been found with a knife in his back. And Ben, who’d stopped off to visit one of Mr. Fuller’s neighbors, has been collared. Now solving the mystery is Liz’s only hope for rescuing her own son . . .

Book excerpt: Pomeranian is the West Germanic language spoken by European emigrants who went from Farther Pomerania (present-day Poland) to Brazil in the period 1857–1887. This language is no longer spoken in cohesive societies in Europe, but the language has survived and is in remarkably good shape on this language island in the tropical state of Espirito Santo. This monograph offers the first synchronic grammar of this language. After a historical introduction, the book offers a systematic description of its phonology, morphology and syntax. The language is contrasted with its European sisters, more particularly High German, Dutch, and Frisian. It highlights various phenomena that will presumably contribute to the ongoing theoretical debate on the Germanic verbal system. It provides new data on cluster V2, do-support, and the two infinitives. As to the infinitival syntax, the language shows remarkable parallels to the system of Frisian. As to the rich Pomeranian system of subtractive morphology, the phonological account that is offered, will be important for the ongoing discussion of the abstractness of phonological representations. Finally, Pomeranian is a welcome addition to the set of languages on which our etymological understanding of West Germanic is based.

To recognize her bravery, Ginger was inducted into the New Jersey Animal Hall of Fame in 1996. Pomeranian: Pom Pom Ado is a narrative treat for dog lovers that covers the breed’s history and its relationship to the animal’s current size, physical and mental characteristics, and suitability as a pet.
