Book Synopsis Strolling Player by : Gabriel Hershman
Download or read book Strolling Player written by Gabriel Hershman and published by The History Press. This book was released on 2017-01-13 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Albert Finney was a Salford-born, homework-hating bookie’s son who broke the social barriers of British film. He did his share of roistering, and yet outlived his contemporaries and dodged typecasting to become a five-time Oscar nominee and one of our most durable international stars. Bon vivant, perennial rebel, self-effacing character actor, charismatic charmer, mentor to a generation of working-class artists, a byword for professionalism, lover of horseflesh and female flesh – Albert Finney is all these things and more. Gabriel Hershman’s colourful and riveting account of Finney’s life and work, drawing on interviews with many of his directors and co-stars, examines how one of Britain’s greatest actors built a glittering career without sacrificing his integrity.

Book Synopsis Finney-Phinney Families in America by : Howard Finney
Download or read book Finney-Phinney Families in America written by Howard Finney and published by . This book was released on 1957 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John Finney (fl. 1630-1665) emigrated as early as 1630 from England to Plymouth, Massachusetts (with his mother, brother and sister). He married three times, and moved to Barnstable, Massachusetts. Some of his descendants spelled the surname Finney and some Phinney. Samuel Finney (1642-1712) immigrated in 1701 from England to Philadelphia, and married three tines; he was probably a Quaker. Robert Finney (1667/1668-1755) was born in Scotland, and served with William of Orange in Ireland in 1689; he escaped and immigrated to New London, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Insofar as is known, these three Finney immigrants were not related. Descendants and relatives of the three lived in New England, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Oklahoma and elsewhere.

This book was released on 1900* with total page 47 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "While it is not definitely know from which of the several lines of the family in England the first emigrants of the name to America were descended, it appears from old records that the Finneys and Phinneys were among the earliest British settlers in the New World. Probably the first of the name in America were the brothers John and Robert Finney or Phinney, who came with their widowed mother and their sister Catherine to Plymouth Mass., sometime before 1638 -- according to some authorities in 1631."--P. 4-5. "Mother Finney was born in England in 1570. Died at Plymouth, Mass., April 22, 1650. Aged 80 years up. ... Her children were Katharine, John and Robert. ... Of her husband and their home in merry England we know nothing."--P. 14. Descendants and relatives lived in Massachusetts, Ohio, Missouri, Colorado, New Mexico, California and elsewhere.
