Book Synopsis The Naked Corporation by : Don Tapscott
Download or read book The Naked Corporation written by Don Tapscott and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2003-10-07 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Welcome to the world of the naked corporation. Transparency is revolutionizing every aspect of our economy and its industries and forcing firms to rethink their fundamental values. We are in an extraordinary age where businesses must make themselves clearly visible to shareholders, customers, employees, partners, and society. Financial data, employee grievances, internal memos, environmental disasters, product weaknesses, international protests, scandals and policies, good news and bad; all can be seen by anyone who knows where to look. Don Tapscott, bestselling author and one of the most sought after strategists and speakers in the business world, is famous for seeing into the future and pointing out both its forest and its trees. David Ticoll, visionary researcher, columnist, and consultant, has identified countless breakthrough trends at the intersection of technology and business strategy. These two longtime collaborators now offer a brilliant guide to the new age of openness. In The Naked Corporation, they explain how the new transparency has caused a power shift toward customers, employees, shareholders, and other stakeholders; how and where information has exploded; and how corporations across many industries have seized on transparency not as a challenge but as an opportunity. Drawing on such examples as Shell Oil’s reinvention of itself as an environmentally focused business, to Johnson & Johnson’s longstanding and carefully nurtured reputation as a company worthy of trust—as well as little-known examples from pharmaceuticals, insurance, high technology, and financial services—Tapscott and Ticoll offer invaluable advice on how to lead the new age, rather than simply react to it. The Naked Corporation is a book for managers, employees, investors, customers, and anyone who cares about the future of the corporation and society.

Book Synopsis Seekers of the Naked Truth by : Paul LeValley
Download or read book Seekers of the Naked Truth written by Paul LeValley and published by Motilal Banarsidass. This book was released on 2018-01-01 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why would I spend a good portion of my time over the last 35 years gathering information on the Gymnosophists? The story begins even earlier. As an undergraduate student in the Flint College of the University of Michigan, I pursued an English major with a strong history minor-always looking for something between the two, and rarely finding it. Then in my practice teaching, I happened into one of the early experimental high school courses in Interdisciplinary Humanities. With the exciting interrelationships between art, literature, music, philosophy and history, I said YES-this was what I had been looking for. So I pioneered in teaching high school Humanities for the next few years. Interdisciplinary Humanities was a bottom-up movement. Gradually, colleges began offering Masters programs to give teachers the rich background they needed. I decided I was not tied to Michigan where it was cold; I would find the best Masters program in Humanities anywhere in the world, and go there. Well, it turned out that the best Masters program in the world was at Wayne State University in Detroit, of all places. Unlike other programs that were really just double majors, Wayne offered truly interdisciplinary classes. Moreover, they offered an Eastern track and a Western track. Knowing that I would never find that Eastern track anywhere else, I studied interdisciplinary courses in the cultures of India, China, Japan, and Egypt. (The middle-eastern professor was on sabbatical when I was there.) I especially liked India-perhaps because I had already travelled around the world, and India impressed me the most.

Download or read book The Naked Gods written by Blessing Abiaka and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2004 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The adventure story exposed the unique and outrageous cultures of Nigerians, with more emphasis on the Ibo speaking tribe in the eastren part of the country. Nigeria is known as the giant of Africa. The book also portrays the flambouyant lifestyle of wealthy Nigerians, a lifestyle which has been the major source of evil in this society, and has led our youngsters to the edge of committing all sorts of dubious crimes and atrocities to meet up with the standards, circulating fake business letters abroad with the intent to dupe, ritual killings for sacrifice, demonic cults, child trafficking and many more. These practises have tarnished ruined the image and reputations of Nigerians all over the world. In this country we love money more than we love our God. It's very disgusting and appalling to see our churches turn places of worship into money making entities, contrary to the doctrine of religion brought to our country many years ago by white people. It's been said that "money, power, and sex" are the roots of all evil. Sex crime is at an alarming rate in our higher instituations. Professors have turned female students into their sex slaves to give them a passing grade in their classes. Despite all odds, we still have our unique qualities.

Book Synopsis The Naked Socialist by : Paul B. Skousen
Download or read book The Naked Socialist written by Paul B. Skousen and published by Izzard Ink. This book was released on 2014-05-26 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Naked Socialist is the real story of socialism. Complete, easy to read, no jargon, well documented, and gives a fascinating look at the raw decay of culture and economy now at work in America. It also provides a beautifully described explanation of the lasting principles of prosperity and constitutional freedoms that must be restored relatively quickly. The Naked Socialist strips away the fakery, the false hopes, the hollow dreams, and the meaningless promises that socialists have foisted on countless millions---not just for the present, but over thousands of years. With clear, brief, and step-by-step examples and anecdotes, the author explains what socialism is, where it came from, how it works, how to recognize it, and why it always destroys its host nation. You will learn that the Seven Pillars of Socialism are not at all new, but a phenomenon that first appeared more than 6,000 years ago---and why socialism managed to mushroom in nations and cultures right up into today’s current events. The Naked Socialist is divided into five parts: 1) Gaining an understanding of what socialism is, 2) How it has appeared in human history, 3) The miracle that stopped socialism, 4) The corruption of that miracle, and, 5) The steps to return that miracle to America and the rest of the world today. Included throughout the book are several questions to teach, test and emphasize important points so that students of freedom may see where this nation needs to move to regain its lost liberties. The Naked Socialist fulfills an urgent need to answer such questions as, • How much of the U.S. Constitution has been replaced with socialism? • What is socialism, and why does it eventually ruin everything it touches? • How did the Founding Fathers specifically make socialism illegal? • How did socialism destroy Rome, the ancient Inca, Jamestown, and Plymouth? Are these same patterns of demise at work today? • Which U.S. presidents socialized America, and what steps did they take to do it? Are these reversible? • How is socialism hurting other nations around the globe? • What are the best examples of socialism in action today? • What are the Seven Pillars of Socialism? • How can people learn to recognize socialism in their midst, or, learn if they're thinking like a socialist? • What are the 46 goals of socialism? • What will it take to eradicate socialism once and for all? The study of freedom breathes hope and encouragement into all things---it sheds light into the dark corners of deception and conspiracy, showing that truth is the only authentic “transparency.” Once socialism is stripped naked, those badly needed answers to restore freedom will materialize for everyone’s benefit. Find those answers, plus hope and courage, in the pages of The Naked Socialist. Reviews "The Naked Socialist is going to be explosive! When people know what Paul Skousen is talking about, and really get to the heart of socialism, The Naked Socialist is going to go VIRAL." --George Jarkesy, Host of the nationally syndicated "The George Jarkesy Radio Show" "The Naked Socialist is an amazing book that provides clarity to what is going on in the socialist world and why Americans do not seem to get socialism!" -Howard Stephenson, Utah State Senator, President of the Utah Taxpayers Association and Host of Red Meat Radio "The Naked Socialist is one of those books that is both an interesting read, as well as a useful reference book. Paul Skousen's research is insightful and thorough, spanning many civilizations and continents. He not only strips socialism of its clothing, he also provides us with great ideas for fighting this scourge. This is a MUST READ for anyone who wants to know how our country arrived where it is today." -Stefan Bartelski, Radio Host of the "Patriot Come Lately Show" "The Naked Socialist connects the ancient order of oppression with the modern order of oppression. The Naked Socialist is a fabulous book and we need to get everyone to read it NOW!" --Morgan Philpot, Host of "Philpot Radio" and former member of the Utah House of Representatives As a retired University Professor, I have spent many hours over the years doing research. "The Naked Socialist" will be a gold mine for anyone presently researching the Socialist inroads in America! It is the most complete and heavily documented work I have ever read, yet can be read straight though as an intriguing historical novel. --James C. Bowers, Sc.D., Author of "The Naked Truth: The Naked Communist Revisited"

Book Synopsis Naked at Lunch by : Mark Haskell Smith
Download or read book Naked at Lunch written by Mark Haskell Smith and published by Open Road + Grove/Atlantic. This book was released on 2015-06-02 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A delightful and informative look at nudism throughout history and around the world.” —The Seattle Times People have been getting naked in public for reasons other than sex for centuries. But as Mark Haskell Smith reveals, being a nudist is more complicated than simply dropping trou. “Nonsexual social nudism,” as it’s called, rose to prominence in the late nineteenth century. Intellectuals, outcasts, and health nuts from Victorian England and colonial India to Belle Époque France and Gilded Age Manhattan disrobed and wrote manifestos about the joys of going clothing-free. From stories of ancient Greek athletes slathered in olive oil to the millions of Germans who fled the cities for a naked frolic during the Weimar Republic to American soldiers given “naturist” magazines by the Pentagon in the interest of preventing sexually transmitted diseases, this book uncovers nudism’s amusing and provocative past. Coated in multiple layers of high SPF sunblock, Haskell Smith publicly disrobes for the first time in Palm Springs; observes the culture of family nudism in a clothing-free Spanish town; and travels to the largest nudist resort in the world, a hedonist’s paradise in the south of France. He reports on San Francisco’s controversial ban on public nudity, participates in a week of naked hiking in the Austrian Alps, and caps off his adventures with a week on a Caribbean cruise known as the Big Nude Boat. Equal parts cultural history and gonzo participatory journalism, Naked at Lunch is “an absolute hoot” (Los Angeles Magazine) and “a total joy” (Meghan Daum). “Smith puts on his reporter’s hat and takes off everything else as he explores the history and sociology of nudism.” —Los Angeles Times
