Book Synopsis The Death And Life of a Most Extraordinary Ordinary Man: My Dad’s Story by : Stephen Mark Davies
Download or read book The Death And Life of a Most Extraordinary Ordinary Man: My Dad’s Story written by Stephen Mark Davies and published by Strategic Book Publishing & Rights Agency. This book was released on 2014-09 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a story that had to be told, a book that had to be written. For it is the description of a man’s life lived simply, without glory, uncomplicated, and based solely on the principles of love for family, honesty, and knowing right from wrong. It is the story of my father’s life, beginning with his death, and then looking back on what were the most extraordinary and cherished childhood memories of living with him. My father was a strong, fun-loving man with a great sense of humour and fun. He was born in a time of great depression in Northwest England in the late 1920s. His father worked dockside in the port of Liverpool, pulling horses and traps that transported coal and food stuff all over the county of Lancashire, and was similarly a man who enjoyed life and watching their beloved Liverpool FC playing at Anfield on Saturday afternoons. My dad only ever loved one woman, Marjorie, a Scouse lass of strong Irish heritage. Together they rode the highs and lows of marriage for nearly sixty years. Four children, eleven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren are the testament to a marriage that he and she made work. The lessons he taught me as a boy have helped me to become the man I am today. The guidance he gave me as a teenager enabled me to become the father I have become. And for all this, I thank the Most Extraordinary Ordinary Man who ever lived, and hereby present My Dad’s Story.
Book Synopsis The Most Interesting Man in the World by : Vinnie Stigma
Download or read book The Most Interesting Man in the World written by Vinnie Stigma and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2024-09-10 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Godfather of New York City hardcore and founding member of Agnostic Front invites you into his lower east side pad to regale you with tales from his extraordinary life among mobsters, punk rockers, and a bevy of iconic artists and personalities—none of whom is as interesting or fascinating as the inimitable Vinnie Stigma! Born Vincent Capuccio on December 3, 1955, Vinnie Stigma—as his countless friends and fans lovingly refer to him—is the founder and guitarist of New York City’s legendary hardcore band Agnostic Front. He’s also one of the Big Apple’s earliest punk rockers, having frequented such eclectic downtown haunts as Max’s Kansas City, The Electric Circus, and of course, CBGB while it was still known as Hilly’s on the Bowery during the early 1970s. The Most Interesting Man in the World stretches from Vinnie’s upbringing in Little Italy amongst the tight-knit Italian families, as well as some prominent wiseguys, to teaming up with Cuban-born vocalist Roger Miret to carry punk’s angrier successor across the globe; from no-show jobs in his youth obtained by people who “protected” him, to lighting up some of the world’s biggest stages. However, Vinnie Stigma is not your run-of-the-mill rocker of many decades. He has dabbled in cooking, professional wrestling, acting, martial arts, yoga, and other creative disciplines. He is a father and a cancer survivor who helped pioneer skinhead and tattoo culture in America, and has mentored hundreds of fledgling musicians and artists. Vinnie insists he is an entertainer first and foremost, which he learned from his childhood idols Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Lee, and Frank Sinatra. Featuring vintage photos throughout, a handful of signature Italian recipes, even a four-page comic book and crossword puzzle, The Most Interesting Man in the World is a journey through a life unlike any other. No one sees or experiences the world quite like Vinnie Stigma.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The heartwarming true story of a farmer’s unwavering faith in the face of a tragic prognosis—and how a community came together to help a neighbor in need. In the summer of 2015, Carl Bates and his wife Pam received the devastating news that he had metastatic cancer. The doctors have him just three months to live. As farmers in Galva, Illinois, they were dealing not only with the profound grief of Carl’s illness, but a serious practical concern: who would harvest the crops? Despite the crisis he faced, Carl never lost his faith in God. When word of his situation got out, a group of fellow farmers gathered organized to harvest Carl’s crops themselves. Someone observed that “a farmer can ask for no better crop than a bountiful harvest of friends.” The event was covered by the news and became a viral phenomenon. Now, in The Most Amazing Harvest, Pam Bates and Paula Patty tell the full story of the remarkable farmer who kept his faith, and the small town community whose selfless act of kindness was nothing short of a miracle.
