The general subject of this series of messages is entitled "Noah, Daniel, and Job--Patterns of Living an Overcoming Life on the Line of Life to Fulfill the Economy of God." Noah, Daniel, and Job were selected to be the subject of this series of messages based upon two verses from Ezekiel 14. Verse 14 says, "Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in the midst of it, they would deliver only their own souls by their righteousness, declares the Lord Jehovah." Verse 20 is similar: "Though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in the midst of it, as I live, declares the Lord Jehovah, they could not deliver even a son or daughter; they would deliver only their own souls by their righteousness." It is clear that these three men are singled out for their righteousness. There are four aspects of righteousness, all of which are deeply and intrinsically woven into what is signified by the lives of these three persons. First, righteousness is to be right with all things, matters, and persons according to God's righteous requirement. Second, righteousness is the expression in our living of the Christ who dwells in us as the life-giving Spirit. Third, righteousness is a matter of being altogether right with the throne of God's administration. God's throne is established upon righteousness (Psa. 89:14). Fourth, righteousness is a matter of our being constituted with the righteousness of God, of our becoming crystal clear and transparent. We are becoming the righteousness of God in Christ. This righteousness in its four aspects is directly related to the Triune God Himself and, in particular, to the Triune God in the carrying out of His divine economy. Book excerpt: This issue of The Ministry of the Word contains the eight messages of the international training for elders and responsible ones hosted by Living Stream Ministry on October 2-4, 2020. The messages were provided via webcast from Anaheim, California, and the mutual fellowship, prophesying, and studying by groups were practiced locally in the various churches that participated. The general subject of this series of messages is "The Christian Life, the Church Life, the Consummation of the Age, and the Coming of the Lord." The present age--the age of grace, the age of the church--is the age of mystery, and the consummation of the age, the end of the age, will be the three and a half years of the great tribulation. In the dispensations from Adam to Moses and from Moses to Christ, everything was unveiled, and there was no mystery. It will be the same in the dispensation of the millennial kingdom and in the new heaven and new earth. However, in the dispensation from the incarnation of Christ to the millennial kingdom--the church age, the age of grace--everything is a mystery. During the church age, the age of mystery, Christ is building up the church, the Body of Christ, to be His bride. We need to see the signs of the Lord's second and imminent coming. The greatest sign of the end of this age, the last three and a half years of the great tribulation, is the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom to the whole inhabited earth. To be taken by the Lord, we need to be those who are watchful for His imminent coming and prepared and ready to be His bride so that we may be raptured before the great tribulation. Every day we need to be watchful by paying the price to buy the Spirit as the golden oil so that we may supply the churches with the Spirit for the testimony of Jesus and be rewarded by the Lord to participate in the marriage dinner of the Lamb. If we want to save our soul-life, we will lose it, but if we lose our soul-life for the Lord's sake, we will save it. If we allow our soul to suffer the loss of its soulish enjoyment in this age for the Lord's sake, we will cause our soul to have its enjoyment in the kingdom age; we will share the Lord's joy in ruling over the earth. If we lose our soul-life, we may participate in the rapture of the overcomers. The salvation of our soul is our receiving the end of our faith. Those who would receive the end of their faith are those whose faith has been proven by fire in this age, that is, proven by all kinds of circumstances, environments, and sufferings that cause the loss of their souls. The salvation of the soul means that our soul will be saved from sufferings into the full enjoyment of the Lord at His coming back. We must be faithful in service in the Lord's commission to give God as food to the members of His household so that we may win Christ as our reward in the coming kingdom. God has set faithful and prudent slaves over His household as household administrators, stewards, channels of supply, to give His people food at the proper time, that is, to minister the word of God and Christ as the life supply to the believers in the church. Furthermore, we must be faithful in service in the Lord's gifts to make a profit for Him so that we may enter into the joy of the Lord in the coming kingdom. The prayer of the age is the prayer of the church as the Body of Christ, the prayer that exercises the authority of Christ as the ascended Lord and Head of the Body, for the fulfilling of God's economy. To fully enter into this kind of prayer and be able to exercise the authority given by the Head to the Body, we need to realize that we are members of the Body, and we must live, act, and move in the Body. In His heavenly ministry Christ is interceding, ministering, and executing God's administration, and we need to be those who respond to Christ's activities in His heavenly ministry by our prayers in the church as the temple of God, a house of prayer. We need revelation to know the reality of the Body of Christ and to enter into the realm and intrinsic significance of the reality of the Body of Christ as God's heart's desire and His ultimate purpose. Only a revelation from God will usher us into the realm of the reality of the Body of Christ, and only then will the Body become our experience. In order to live together with other members in the reality of the Body of Christ, we need to have a consciousness of the Body of Christ. The overcomers typified by Zion are the reality of the Body of Christ and consummate the building up of the Body in the local churches to bring in the consummated holy city, New Jerusalem, the Holy of Holies as God's dwelling place in eternity. We need to follow Paul's pattern of having an overcoming life of fighting the good fight, finishing our course, and loving the Lord's appearing. To fight the good fight of the faith means to fight for God's New Testament economy; in particular, it is to fight for Christ as the embodiment of God and for the church as the Body of Christ. A proper Christian life involves running the course, the race, for the carrying out of God's economy according to His eternal purpose. We need to seek out the journey that the Lord has ordained for us and faithfully walk on it, paying any price to wholeheartedly continue on our journey until we reach the end. The journey that the Lord has ordained for us is the race that we must run with endurance by looking away unto Jesus as the Author and Perfecter of our faith. As those who love the Lord Jesus, take Him as our life, live Him, and magnify Him, we should await His coming and love His appearing. This should be our heart's desire and our living as those who hope to enter into His joy, be saved into the Lord's heavenly kingdom, and receive the crown of righteousness. God's desire is to end this age and bring in the age of the kingdom. In order for God to accomplish this, He must have His dispensational instrument. All of us should look to the Lord and pray that we will have dispensational value to God. Because the church has not attained to God's purpose, God will choose a group of overcomers who will attain to His purpose and fulfill His demand; this is the principle of the man-child. The man-child consists of the overcomers who stand on behalf of the church, take the position that the whole church should take, and do the work for the church. The rapture of the man-child to heaven, the casting of Satan to earth, and the declaration in heaven that the kingdom has come signify that God's gaining of the man-child is His greatest dispensational move because it brings an end to the church age and introduces the kingdom age. The general subject of this series of messages is "Knowing and Experiencing the Intrinsic Constitution of the Building of God." The processed and consummated Triune God Himself is the constituent of God's building. When this processed and consummated Triune God as the constituent is dispensed into us, wrought into us, and built into us by being mingled with us, the result is not simply the constituent but a constitution. This constitution issues in a unique kind of being--a redeemed, regenerated, transformed, tripartite human being mingled with and one with the processed and consummated Triune God to be a real God-man. The intrinsic significance of 2 Samuel 7:12-14a--a prophecy concerning the building of God--is that the Triune God is working Himself in His processed and consummated Trinity into our being to make us His abode and to make Himself our abode. This is the focus of the messages contained in this volume. The all-inclusive life-giving Spirit as the extract of the processed and consummated Triune God in His economy is the constituent. God's central work is to dispense this constituent into every fiber of our being, saturating us, permeating us, constituting us, sonizing us, Christifying us, divinizing us, and deifying us so that although we remain human and therefore creatures, we become Triune God-constituted men, whose being is a constitution of the processed and consummated Triune God as the constituent. Now we, in our being, become this constitution, and as such we are part of the building of God. Last of all, we include a report concerning the Lord's move in Ivory Coast, a French-speaking country of West Africa.

The general subject of this series of messages is "Knowing and Experiencing the Intrinsic Constitution of the Building of God." The building of God is the corporate expression of the processed and consummated Triune God in and through His chosen, redeemed, regenerated, renewed, sanctified, transformed, and glorified people. It is the corporate expression of the Triune God produced by the mingling of God and man and by the building of God into man and man into God. God's goal is to build up the Body of Christ to consummate the New Jerusalem, which is the consummate building of God. This glorious, consummate building has a number of outstanding characteristics. However, the highest characteristic of the building of God is that it is a personal building, that is, a person, the corporate God-man. When our Lord Jesus Christ came through incarnation to be a man, the God-man, He Himself was a building (John 1:14; 2:19, 21). The Lord Jesus Himself, as the mingling of God and man, was God's building in miniature. As an individual man, He was both the tabernacle and the temple. However, God's goal is to enlarge this individual building by multiplying Christ through death and resurrection and then working this Christ into our whole being until we are the same as He is in every way except in the Godhead. The result will be a corporate building, which is a corporate person--the bride of Christ and the wife of the Lamb. God's goal in the whole universe is to gain such a spiritual, organic, and personal building. (4) Let us go forth and preach Christ to all the creation, proclaiming the gospel, presenting the truth, and ministering life for the growth, development, and manifestation of the kingdom of God. These messages are being published immediately following the training in order that they may benefit the saints participating in the many video trainings that are held throughout the earth. The Announcements section includes a presentation of the present burden in the recovery concerning the Lord's move to Europe and the latest fellowship regarding the plan to build a ministry conference center in Anaheim, California. In the Announcements section we also include the 2007 calendar, giving the dates and locations of the seven Living Stream Ministry conferences and trainings--the seven annual feasts. Book excerpt: This issue of The Ministry contains a complete record of the nine messages given during the International Training for Elders and Responsible Ones, held in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada, October 5-7, 2006. The general subject of the training was "Shepherding the Flock of God." These messages are a continuation of the training given in the spring of 2006 (see The Ministry, Vol. 10, No. 5). The burden of these messages is not about the technique of shepherding but about what we are in our person and how we behave in the church. This is according to Paul's word to the elders in Ephesus in Acts 20. He said, "Take heed to yourselves and to all the flock" (v. 28). We first need to take care of ourselves, to be shepherded in our own person before we take care of all the flock. Messages 1 and 2 show us that our shepherding must be according to the plan of God and the word of God, according to the teaching of the apostles, and according to God. These form the basis of our shepherding. Messages 3, 5, and 7 show us that our shepherding is in our living by the grace of God, in an organic way according to His initiation and with our cooperation, and in dealing with peculiarity. These are the conditions of our shepherding. Messages 4, 6, and 8 show us that our goal must be to shepherd the saints into the faith of the truth, into a life of living through dying, and into a life of prayer for the organic practice of the God-ordained way in the vital groups. Finally, in Message 9, if the elders are constituted with the basis, the conditions, and the goal of shepherding, the flock of God will be shepherded to know the Body of Christ. May the Lord speak to us His light-shedding and life-imparting word. Last of all, we include letters and reports concerning the recent gospel move in the Russian-speaking world.

In Messages 1 through 8 of this series, the first two stages of overcoming were presented: In the first stage the Lord draws us to pursue Him so that we can be fully satisfied and fully delivered from this world, and in the second stage the Lord calls us to be delivered from the self through our oneness with the cross by the power of His resurrection. In Messages 9 through 16, the last two stages are unfolded. In the third stage we are called to live in ascension as the new creation in resurrection and to overcome everything of the old creation. Finally, in the fourth stage we are called to live within the veil, entering into God as our sanctuary to become the same as God in life and nature and to become the sanctuary of God, the building of God, and the bride of Christ as the Shulammite, the duplication, enlargement, and full expression of Christ for Christ's satisfaction. In this stage we are qualified to work together with Christ, and we have a hope and a longing to be raptured. The general subject of this series of messages is entitled "The Overcoming Life as Portrayed in Song of Songs." This general subject is based upon an intrinsic revelation in the Scriptures related to our overcoming and our love relationship with the Lord. This is demonstrated in Romans 8:37--the "theme verse" of this entire series of messages, which says, "In all these things we more than conquer through Him who loved us." The Greek word translated "more than conquer" is hypernikao, which literally means "super-overcome" or "more than overcome." Hence, we more than overcome through Him who loved us. According to this verse, the ones who are really loved by God become super-overcomers, more than conquerors. There is a deep, sweet, rich, essential, intrinsic, organic, and experiential connection between love and overcoming. In Song of Songs the lover of Christ overcomes in four stages: in the first stage (1:2--2:7) she overcomes the attraction of the world by being captivated by Christ; in the second stage (2:8--3:5) she overcomes the self, which secludes her from the presence of Christ, by becoming one with the cross of Christ; in the third stage (3:6--5:1) she overcomes the old creation (the physical things) by living in the ascension of Christ in resurrection after her self has been dealt with by the cross; and in the fourth stage (5:2--6:13) she overcomes the flesh, the natural man, the old man, by living within the veil, requiring a deeper experience of the cross. Last of all, we present a concluding set of testimonies from some who participated in the recent gospel move in the Russian-speaking world.

The general subject of the training was knowing the Body. Three messages were on the specific topic of knowing the Body—the building up of the Body, and the last three messages were practical fellowship concerning the functioning of the elders. Under the topic of knowing the Body--the building up of the Body, the first message emphasizes that as we grow up into Christ, the Head, in all things, our function will come out from the Head for the building up of the Body of Christ. The second message points out what the living and service of the Body of Christ is. The living of the Body of Christ includes: 1) taking Christ as its Head, life, content, principal object, center, and goal, 2) having the Spirit as its essence and reality and taking the Spirit as its secret and effectiveness, 3) taking the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ as its regulation, and 4) taking life and the Body as the principle. The service of the Body of Christ is living, organic, and particular, with each member receiving a particular burden from the Lord to fulfill his own service. The third message reveals the divine commission according to the heavenly vision for the increase and building up of the Body. Under the topic of practical fellowship concerning the functioning of the elders, the first message speaks about the position and function of the elders. The second message points out that the elders are slaves, and as such they must have the spirit of a slave, the spirit of sacrifice. The third message stresses that the main responsibility of the eldership is the shepherding of the saints into the intrinsic aspect of the church, the Body. Last of all, we include reports concerning the Lord's move in the former Soviet Union and among the young people in Europe.

The general subject of the conference was entitled "The All-inheriting Vision of the Age," and the main burden of the conference can be summarized by the following four statements: 1) the vision that the Lord has given His recovery is an all-inclusive vision--the all-inheriting vision of the age; 2) the governing vision of the Bible is the Triune God working Himself into His redeemed people for the producing and building up of the Body of Christ consummating in the New Jerusalem; 3) the goal of God's economy is the enlarged, universal, divine-human incorporation of the consummated God with the regenerated believers; and 4) to live and serve God according to the vision of the age in the ministry of the age is to live out and work out the New Jerusalem. Last of all, we include a report concerning the Lord's move in Grenada.

Book excerpt: In this issue of The Ministry, Brother Lee speaks about some of the practical steps in implementing the new way, particularly in relation to the gospelization of Taiwan. This is an unprecedented task and a glorious enterprise. For a purpose like this, there is the need of a schedule and a plan. As long as we are human beings, we need schedules and budgets. In the Gospels and Acts, we find that both the Lord and the disciples worked with plans and arrangements. In His move on the earth, the Lord had not only a schedule but also an itinerary, according to which He carried out His New Testament service and fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies. Our plan is to visit the communities and campuses and build up the home meetings through prayer, the full-time service of one out of twenty saints, and the financial support from the remaining nineteen. The next three messages conclude the Crystallization-study of the Epistle to the Hebrews given in the winter training of 1998. Message Twenty-two focuses on the crystals concerning the church in the book of Hebrews, which include the church as the living composition of the many sons of God, a corporate partnership with Christ, the house of God, the Sabbath rest, the new covenant and the heavenly New Jerusalem, the unshakable kingdom, and God’s flock. Message Twenty-three stresses the crucial matter of the Christian life being a race; we must run this race to receive the prize, the incorruptible crown, which the Lord will award to His overcoming saints who win the race. Message Twenty-four shows us that the goal and ultimate conclusion of the book of Hebrews is that we would enter within the veil and go outside the camp. The more we are in our spirit, enjoying the heavenly Christ, the more we will come outside the camp of religion, following the suffering Jesus. In the last section, we include a report from Armenia and Slovakia.
