Book Synopsis Designing Better Services by : Francesca Foglieni
Download or read book Designing Better Services written by Francesca Foglieni and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-09-25 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides accessible, comprehensive guidance on service design and enables practitioners approaching the discipline for the first time to develop the strategic mindset needed to exploit its innovation potential. The opening chapters trace the origins of service design and examine its links with service innovation, as well as its strategic role in service organizations. It then offers step-by-step guidance on tackling a service design project, explaining the main design elements and indications of various useful design tools. It also introduces the topic of evaluation as a support practice in designing or redesigning better services, and providing evidence concerning the value of service design interventions. The third chapter explores how evaluation is currently approached in service design practice through the analysis of a number of case studies. Based on these experiences it extensively discusses evaluation, with a particular focus on service evaluation, and explains its importance in supporting service design and fostering innovation throughout the service design process. Further it describes pragmatic directions for setting up and conducting a service evaluation strategy. The concluding chapter uses an interpretive model to summarize the role evaluation could have in service design practice and focuses on interdisciplinary competences that need to be acquired by service designers in order to address the evolution of the discipline. The novel approach adopted in the book fosters the growing interest in design-driven service innovation and assists in realizing its full potential in both the private and the public sector.

Book Synopsis The Research Mission of Higher Education Institutions outside the University Sector by : Svein Kyvik
Download or read book The Research Mission of Higher Education Institutions outside the University Sector written by Svein Kyvik and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-06-08 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Even if in most countries non-university higher education institutions did not have originally a research mandate, it is well known that in most cases these institutions have progressively developed research activities and, at least in some countries, the State now has recognized the research role of these institutions and provided support and funding. Moreover, in many countries the role of research in polytechnics, ‘fachhochschulen’, ‘hogescholen’, university colleges, etc is on the political agenda. Despite the importance of the issue, there are very few in-depth studies of research in the non-university sector. These studies show that the development of research in these institutions leads to quite complex interactions with universities, both in the sense of convergence (academic drift) and/or of differentiation of a specific research mandate oriented towards the regional economy. Therefore, this book aims to fill this gap by first analysing a number of transversal issues related to the research mission of these institutions. In its second part it gives an overview of the state of the art in eight European countries.

Book Synopsis Public incentives in support of R+D and innovation in the Federal State of Espirito Santo, Brazil by : Daniel Streit
Download or read book Public incentives in support of R+D and innovation in the Federal State of Espirito Santo, Brazil written by Daniel Streit and published by diplom.de. This book was released on 2004-02-24 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
