After helping his lover Josephine lay claim to the throne of Nimea, the assassin Caim has ventured north to the land that has haunted his dreams—cold, unforgiving Eregoth. He departs seeking answers to his parents’ murder and hoping that this knowledge will explain his ability to bend the shadows to his will. In searching for his past, Caim wanders into war. But Eregoth is threatened by a power more terrifying than any army—the witch Sybelle, Queen of the Dark. If given the chance, her aims at destruction would not cease at Eregoth but storm through Nimea where Josey struggles to secure her reign. With nothing more than a force of ragtag warriors at his side, Caim knows that standing against Sybelle’s onslaught may be suicide. But as a son of the Shadow, he has no choice but to fight. Even if every life he takes brings him closer to the blackness that would claim him body and soul...

Book excerpt: Visiting the southern Italian city of her birth, Chiara Gabrieli is dazzled by the brilliance of the Mediterranean sun and the haunting antiquity of the landscape, where gods and ancients once walked. Inspired by her surroundings and ghosts of her own, she is compelled to write the story of her grandmother Anna Marilena and her four sorrows. Set in the picturesque hilltop city of Monteseviano, Chiara’s story spans the years 1900-1944, during which Anna Marilena’s family is caught up in the turmoil of emigrations to America, Fascism, and World War II. The shattering of Italy and the portrayal of America as the "Home Front," are among the absorbing themes of the story. The vivid descriptions of daily life in Monteseviano impart a palpable sense of the land-scape, architecture, foods, and culture of Southern Italy. Anna Marilena’s Four Sorrows, a novel of grand scope, recreating the first decades of the twentieth century in Italy and America. Cover design by Sean Mitchell Painting by Giuseppe Dimichino

Book excerpt: The trilogy is complete as Richard Stern, the FBI, and mysterious events come together. An angel must be guiding Mr. Stern from Ohio to Oregon as he continues to harass the enemy as only Mr. Stern can do. Call it luck, great premonition or both, but Stern unintentionally baffles the enemy. Terrorist leaders must change their plans to assault Middle America. The terrorist leaders continuously revise and downsize the plan as Richard Stern finds pieces of the terrorist puzzle. Stern keeps the FBI informed. Even the FBI has a tough time deciphering and believing the information from the alcoholic. Agents Ron Roman and Bill Wright use Stern's information to drive a wedge into the gears of terrorism. The crime fighter's efforts receive additional help from two highly unusual sources. Alert citizens and legends are factors that derail the terrorist's plan. Terrorist leaders are forced into abandoning schemes to hold whole towns hostage. They downsize the operation and move to a softer target. Two cities compete in a boat race. These two party boats become the targets. The FBI is confronted with the emotionally charged hostage situations. The suicide bombers have little chance of success. FBI agents have two choices and both are considered suicidal.
