Find be it further enacted, That at the first term of the Supreme Court the Judges thereof, shall appoint one of their number to preside therein, who shall thenceforth be styled Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of north-carolina, and that the Chief Ju3 said jchiefjustice and each and every of the other Judges of the tics. Supreme Court aforesaid shall have, use exercise and enjoy the same powers andauthorities, rights, privileges and pro-eminen ces in every respect as are now had used, exercised and enjoyed by the Judges respectively of the Superior Courts of Law and Equity within this State, except that no Judge of the Supreme Court shall be authorised to hold a Superior Court; and that for the purpose of carrying such powers and authorities into oxeen tion, each of the said Chief Justice and Judges of the Supreme Court may make any, fiat, may order or issue any process and perform any act which it is lawful for any Judge of the Superior Courts to make, order, issue or perform.
