Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Law Specially Affecting Printers, Publishers, and Newspaper Proprietors To attempt to deal in one small book with the whole body of law which should regulate the conduct of any class of persons would be ridiculous, yet inasmuch as certain branches of the corpus juris more nearly affect some classes than others, it is thought permissible to include in a handbook of the Law specially affecting Printers, Publishers, and Newspaper Proprietors not only the statutory enactments dealing with these persons exclusively, but also the Law of Libel and Copyright, which perhaps more closely concerns them than any other classes in the community, as well as such subjects as the Law of Master and Servant, the Factory Laws, the Laws regulating the action of Trade Unions, and the Law relating to Nuisances caused by Noisy Machinery, which have a frequent bearing upon their businesses, nor is it deemed improper to append a few observations upon the law concerning some of the most common of the every-day affairs of commercial men.
