Book excerpt: Each human life is the result of a unique set of causes and effects—a condensation, as it were, of past actions, some of which stretch back over many lifetimes. To the student of the esoteric, our bodies—both inner and outer—are receptacles for creative as well as destructive energies and are the product of those cosmic laws of cause and effect known as karma. This book explains the fundamental concept of karma and examines the way karmic consequences manifest in a variety of physical diseases, ranging from arthritis to schizophrenia and alcoholism.

Book excerpt: The Universal Law of Giving and Receiving has a remarkable impact on humankind in many ways. It either allows them to live in abundance or prevents them from doing so. The entire idea is to give away whatever one earns in life, and then the Universe will return it to him after fulfilling a cycle of giving and receiving. As a result, the Universal Law of Giving and the Universal Law of Receiving go hand in hand. It is a cycle that needs to be finished. When somebody is needy, it is an act of decency to give what he wants. The strict refusal may eventually prompt the power of the Universe to prevent the giver from gifting anything. It will take away everything the person owns, leaving him empty-handed. Besides, if there is someone only interested in giving, the Universe will stop the flow of the donations as it is one-way traffic. The essence is to share what is in hand. One may note that giving something to someone does not guarantee that he will receive something in the bargain. He will probably not get it back in the same motion. One of the spiritual rules of prosperity and success is the law of giving and receiving. Because giving and receiving are two sides of the same coin, it might be considered a natural thing that stays perpetual. On a purely energetic basis, they are inter-connected. Giving and receiving are closely linked, and people cannot think of one without the other. If somebody tries to interrupt the flow of either of these traits, the process will come to a halt. Although it appears to be straightforward that all individuals give in some form yet all of them desire to receive something against it. People mostly don't know how to offer because they are perplexed by misunderstandings about the gifting process and restricting notions and concerns. They also don't know how to get over the subconscious barriers kept in between. Sometimes people believe they have been wronged and not given anything. It is common to know how upset some parents become when their children do not give a penny to them. They are so ungrateful for not giving their parents the attention and respect they need even though they have received so much from them.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Karma is a law of cause and effect. You moved the gold from one safe into another and you will be moved from one house to another. Attendants will be also appointed to keep you, and when you go out, rings may be put on your arms and legs. The karmic law originated with the coming of humans out of God. And the action or manifestation of that law begins with the polarization of people, i.e. with the appearance of both sexes, the two poles in the world. Polarization implies splitting of the human mind into positive and negative, ascending and descending, or in a higher words level - consciousness of Love and consciousness of Wisdom. These are the two poles in man. There are two laws: one of them is the law of karma, or the law of cause and effect. You bear sufferings necessarily. The second law is a law of freedom. The law of karma does not recognize any right, any culture, any happiness, any love. "Who applies that law?" You apply it every day, but it is applied on you, too. You catch a hen, touch it here and there to make sure that it is fattened and you put the knife on its neck. It is quacking, praying, but you do not hear it. You think of the good meal that you will cook. There is no law that can protect the hen. There is no a judge, who to give the right to it. Do you think that if you kill the chicken, you will be happy? From that moment your sufferings begin, i.e. your karma. You might say that it is written, that God allows people to eat meat. This is a human interpretation. There is a difference between what is written and said by God. God said only dead branches of trees to be cut, and people allowed themselves to cut also the live branches, as well as entire forests. Furthermore, if you uproot a dry tree, you are to plant a new, young tree. Karma is created when people do not live in accordance with the Divine laws. They deviate from the right path and walk along a curve wavy line, called "path of astral serpent". One, who thinks he can outwit the law of karma, is wrong. For such people it can be used the Bulgarian proverb: "A sly fox falls into the trap by both legs." One must not play with karma. Why? Karma is a creditor. It does not allow any delay even with half a day. It does not forgive anything: you will pay the exact sum even with the interest. Therefore, karma does not excuse even the interest. The karmic law is drastic. It excuses only when everything is paid off.

Book excerpt: Life is full of challenges, both big and small. Spirituality is here to offer solutions. Over the course of his career as physician, teacher, and bestselling author, Deepak Chopra has received thousands of questions from people facing every kind of challenge. They have asked how to lead more fulfilling lives, how to overcome relationship problems and personal obstacles. What’s the best way to deal with a passive-aggressive friend? Can a stagnant career be jump-started? In a world full of distractions and stress, how does one find time for meditation? Hidden among all of these questions are answers waiting to be uncovered. In this groundbreaking book, Chopra shows you how to expand your awareness, which is the key to the confusion and conflict we all face. “The secret is that the level of the problem is never the level of the solution,” he writes. By rising to the level of the solution in your own awareness, you can transform obstacles into opportunities. Chopra leads the reader to what he calls “the true self,” where peace, clarity, and wisdom serve as guides in times of crisis. For Chopra, spirituality is primarily about consciousness, not about religious dogma or relying on the conventional notion of God. “There is no greater power for success and personal growth than your own awareness.” With practical insight, Spiritual Solutions provides the tools and strategies to enable you to meet life’s challenges from within and to experience a sense of genuine fulfillment and purpose.

Book excerpt: In New York Times bestselling author Marissa Meyer's young adult contemporary romance, a girl is suddenly gifted with the ability to cast instant karma on those around her – both good and bad. Chronic overachiever Prudence Barnett is always quick to cast judgment on the lazy, rude, and arrogant residents of her coastal town. Her dreams of karmic justice are fulfilled when, after a night out with her friends, she wakes up with the sudden ability to cast instant karma on those around her. Pru giddily makes use of the power, punishing everyone from public vandals to mean gossips, but there is one person on whom her powers consistently backfire: Quint Erickson, her slacker of a lab partner. Quint is annoyingly cute and impressively noble, especially when it comes to his work with the rescue center for local sea animals. When Pru resigns herself to working at the rescue center for extra credit, she begins to uncover truths about baby otters, environmental upheaval, and romantic crossed signals—not necessarily in that order. Her newfound karmic insights reveal how thin the line is between virtue and vanity, generosity and greed . . . love and hate... and fate.
