Book excerpt: It has taken modern science more than 3,500 years, and the genius of such men as Einstein to catch up with what Abraham and Moses knew so long ago. We can only ponder how many more wonders of God may be hidden in the astounding translations of Joseph Smith. In Joseph Smith and Modern Astronomy, Dr. Richard Ingebretsen, former science editor for the Ensign, a medical doctor, and a PhD scientist, confirms the truth of the writings and translations of Joseph Smith using advances in modern science and astrophysics. • Governing stars influence other celestial bodies (Abraham 3:2-4) • The “times” of heavenly bodies are not all the same (Abraham 3:3-4) • Absolute truths have been revealed in the translations of Joseph Smith These fascinating parallels explained by Dr. Ingebretsen will not only broaden your scientific understanding, but they will also present a framework to comprehending other revelations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Light is the key to the deepest of mysteries, and the bridge that connects science and spirituality. When Christian faith is understood in terms of the scientific properties and behaviors of light, not only do perceived conflicts between science and spirituality disappear, but there exists a synergy between them that supports and enriches both. The key to understanding our place and purpose in the universe is the property of light known in physics as the "complementarity principle," in which light exists as waves until it is observed by humans, upon which it instantly manifests as physical reality. This dual nature of light defines dual realities - the spiritual and physical realities. Visionaries and prophets throughout history and from widely diverse backgrounds, as well as many individuals who have had so-called near death experiences, have consistently reported experiencing God as Light - Light that is qualitatively and quantitatively different from the light we ordinarily see. Furthermore, the "tunnel" often seen in the near death experience is the same phenomenon as the so-called "spiritual eye" or "gate of heaven" of the visionary experience. It's a phenomenon that was predicted by Einstein's theories 100 years ago. In addition, re-examining the biblical creation story in terms of the Light of Christ and the complementarity principle, it becomes clear that the "fall" of man from the presence of God was a quantum event in which his conscious awareness switched from God to the physical world. It also becomes clear that the first chapter of Genesis is about the creation of the universe, not about our planet. The apparent anachronisms in the Genesis story then disappear, details of the physical creation as distinct from the spiritual come into sharper focus, and the creation story is seen to be in complete harmony with modern science.

It takes steadfast, enduring faith in God and the self-control to live up to the standards being taught. Although not perfect, good leaders strive for perfection and continually lift those around them as they climb. They aren't afraid to labor alongside those they are called to serve. The challenge facing the leadership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in our day is to teach the Lord's people how to survive the calamities prophesied to come forth in this last dispensation-our time. Leadership for the Violent Last Days offers inspired counsel to those who desire to be more than a mediocre leader. It was written for those who are motivated by their love for the Lord and His children and want to make a difference. The safety and refuge found in Zion are not made of brick and mortar. It is a community molded from the pure hearts of its people (D&C 97:12); a sanctuary based on the laws of the celestial kingdom. As the Lord's chosen people, we can build this perfect city together-the city of Zion-the pure in heart.

This book was released on 2021-06-26 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Amazingly enough, Christ is the Jehovah of the Old Testament and the God of Israel. It was Christ who led the nation of Israel out of Egyptian bondage, and it was he who gave and fulfilled the Law of Moses." This book is different from other books about the Latter-day Saints (LDS) in at least two ways. First, it focuses on details of LDS doctrine that are relatively unknown, even to church members. Second, because its purpose is to inform, not persuade, it presents these details in a neutral, unflinching, warts-and-all way. The reader can then decide for him- or herself what to believe. As Jensen states in his Introduction, he wrote the book for three audiences. First, he wrote it for himself. Although he grew up in the church and served a church mission, he was often confused about the more cryptic points of LDS doctrine, of which there are many. For example, if someone had asked him to explain in detail the LDS position on angels, or Jews, or Zion, he knew wouldn't have been able to. So he wrote the book to understand - to "get to the bottom of" - the church's more obscure beliefs and follow the implications to their logical conclusion. Second, he wrote it for non-Mormons who are curious about the religion and seek a book that is unbiased and informative while also being light and readable. Third, he wrote it for members of the church who are fuzzy on the details of the topics discussed in the book and would like to understand them better. The church has always placed great stock in education, especially as it relates to God's plans for us. This book will help educate church members on the finer points of their doctrine - on what one actually believes, or should believe, as a Latter-day Saint. Were Adam and Eve married? Is there a hell of fire and brimstone? Does the earth have a spirit? Does Satan have a body? Who are the Lost 10 Tribes? Where did Noah set off from in his ark? Will animals and plants be resurrected? In this book, you'll find unflinching answers (from the LDS perspective) to those important and interesting questions - and many more.

Book excerpt: The author demonstrates that the Book of Mormon is a native Mesoamerican book (or codex) that exhibits what one would expect of a historical document produced in the context of ancient Mesoamerican civilization. He also shows that scholars' discoveries about Mesoamerica and the contents of the Nephite record are clearly related, listing more than 400 points where the Book of Mormon text corresponds to characteristic Mesoamerican situations, statements, allusions, and history.
