The Starlings seem to be entirely absent from Martin County this season; not one has been sighted this winter. The juncos, too, are almost totally non-existent, with only six on our count as compared to 79 last year. The scarcity of Tufted Titmice could well be due to the widespread forest fires and the destruction Of the natural food supply.
