Book Synopsis 18 and Life on Skid Row by : Sebastian Bach
Download or read book 18 and Life on Skid Row written by Sebastian Bach and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2016-12-06 with total page 459 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The legendary rock singer and Skid Row frontman holds nothing back in this “ribald and freewheeling memoir . . . a delightfully trashy and salacious read” (AV Club). FROM SKID ROW TO BROADWAY, FROM THE GUTTERS OF NEW JERSEY TO SAVILE ROW, HEREIN LIES THE TALE OF THE FIRST THIRTY YEARS OF BACH ’N’ ROLL, MOTHERTRUCKERS!!!!!! Sebastian Bach is the epitome of a rock ’n’ roll front man. Loud, boisterous, sometimes self-destructive, and constantly creative, he was the electrifying, iconic lead singer of Skid Row—the band whose platinum-selling songs “18 and Life,” “Youth Gone Wild,” and “I Remember You,” took the world by storm, and were MTV mainstays. But Bach is no ordinary rock star. In his funny, exhilarating, and brutally honest memoir, Bach tells his story of Skid Row: the parties, drugs, and international tours with Mötley Crüe, Aerosmith, Metallica, Slayer, and Guns N’ Roses, as well as the one-of-a-kind voice that carried him through Skid Row’s heyday and their eventual breakup. With his typical bravado, Sebastian reflects on the cost of fame, the price of creativity, and what it means to go from rock hopeful to rock star. From his birth in the Bahamas to his teenage years in Canada to the music that rocks his life today, 18 and Life on Skid Row is the ultimate story of Sebastian Bach and his devotion to the music he loves.

Download or read book An English Baby Boomer written by Neil G. M. Hall and published by . This book was released on 2014-03 with total page 542 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our Baby Boomer, Neil Hall's very early days include life at an ex-Nazi U-Boat Base in occupied Germany, followed by dreamy times in the 1950s England, as the sun sets on The British Empire. Turbulent teenage years ensue at Marlborough College, Kate Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge's Alma Mater. The successes and vicissitudes of running a business in London are tantalisingly peppered with a legion of quirky characters - the famous and not so famous. A brush with an Ambassador to the Court of St. James's adds high drama! Publishing his first book for his eldest son, the writer and journalist, Tarquin Hall, and dabbling in Hollywood film making with his younger son, Alexander, spice up life. These are only a few of the happenings in Neil Hall's ordinary, but extraordinary life. Perhaps, the not so ordinary is time spent in the wilds of the tribal territories in north-west Pakistan and living in Istanbul. How did his 18-year old ginger tom cat come to be buried in the Anglican churchyard in that fabulous and mysterious city? Other travels in the USA and Europe add gritty ingredients to this eccentric tale. As Neil Hall's later life unfolds, eastern philosophical influences surface. Jokes, poetry, quirky tales, Baby Boomer popular history - political and social - plus blissful nostalgia abound in this charming book. And if the English intrigue you, this journey is punctuated with glimpses of what makes them tick. England is a country of dreamers, explorers, businessmen, wheeler dealers, inventors, scientists and creative types who bafflingly absorb the people who invade or wander on to their shores. Resonances of this composite inheritance jump from every page. Never taking life too seriously and maintaining an abiding sense of humour also helps Neil Hall to survive. Above all, one senses that, at this point in history, his zest for learning and that of his compatriots is greater than ever. Perhaps, the future survival of the English depends on it. Neil Hall's favourite story - and his life is influenced by many - The Happiest Man In The World, echoes this yearning for knowledge and the truth. To discover if our Baby Boomer becomes the happiest man in the world, order a copy of An English Baby Boomer - My Life and Times by Neil G. M. Hall.

Book excerpt: A history of the ancient Essenes along with their rites, cyphers (memory aids) and ceremonies. Most interesting for the ritualist or student of ritual study. At one time considered a "forbidden ritual" by some U.S. Grand Lodges, this is now an example of the misunderstandings some had towards old rituals or the unfamiliar. This is a classic example of old esoteric rituals confused with Freemasonry. Photographic reproduction of the 1881 edition.

Download or read book The Lusiads written by Luis Vaz de Camoes and published by . This book was released on 2021-11-28 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 16th century poet Luís Vaz de Camões is widely considered as Portugal's greatest classical poet. Most likely born in Lisbon around 1524, Luís Vaz de Camões received a formal education, possibly from the University of Coimbra. While his family was poor, his heritage was noble and thus Luís Vaz de Camões was able to gain admittance to the court of John III where his career as a poet began. In the 1550s he traveled to the east, passing through the same regions that Vasco da Gama had sailed. It is about this time that he likely began writing his magnum opus, "The Lusiads". First published in 1572, this epic poem, which is frequently compared to Virgil's "Aeneid", relates the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama's discovery of the maritime route to India by way of Cape of Good Hope. Composed of over 1100 stanzas in ten books, "The Lusiads" is to this day widely regarded as the most important literary work of the Portuguese language. This edition is printed on premium acid-free paper and follows the translation of William Julius Mickle.
