Book Synopsis Biochemistry of Antimicrobial Action by : Trevor John Franklin
Download or read book Biochemistry of Antimicrobial Action written by Trevor John Franklin and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rapid advances made in the study of the synthesis, structure and function of biological macromolecules in the last fifteen years have enabled scientists concerned with antimicrobial agents to achieve a considerable measure of understanding of how these substances inhibit cell growth and division. The use of antimicrobial agents as highly specific inhibitors has in turn substantially assisted the investigation of complex biochemical processes. The literature in this field is so extensive however, that we considered an attempt should be made to draw together in an introductory book the more significant studies of recent years. This book, which is in fact based on lecture courses given by us to undergraduates at Liverpool and Manchester Universities, is therefore intended as an introduction to the biochemistry of antimicrobial action for advanced students in many disciplines. We hope that it may also be useful to established scientists who are new to this area of research. The book is concerned with a discussion of medically important antimicrobial compounds and also a number of agents that, although having no medical uses, have proved invaluable as research tools in biochemistry. Our aim has been to present the available information in a simple and readable way, emphasizing the established facts rather than more controversial material. Whenever possible, however, we have indicated the gaps in the present knowledge of the subject where further information is required.
Book Synopsis Through the Models of Writing by : D. Alamargot

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides both young and senior scientists with a comparative view of current theoretical models of text production. Models are clearly situated in their historical context, scrutinized in their further evolution with a fine-grained observation of differences between models. Very complete and informative to read, this book will be useful to people working in teaching of writing or studying this specific human activity.

Book Synopsis Baltic Coastal Ecosystems by : Gerald Schernewski
Download or read book Baltic Coastal Ecosystems written by Gerald Schernewski and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2002-05-13 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Baltic Sea and its coastal zones have been intensively utilised for centuries. Settlements, industry, fisheries and trade are still concentrated in the coastal zones. Concurrently, the coast is a web of sensitive and highly valuable ecosystems which suffer from ongoing degradation. Increasing demands and pressures on coastal ecosystems require integrated coastal zone management. This book reflects the current state and problems of coastal ecosystems in the entire Baltic region, highlighting obstacles and future solutions for integrated management.

Download or read book Antimicrobial Agents written by Varaprasad Bobbarala and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains precisely referenced chapters, emphasizing antibacterial agents with clinical practicality and alternatives to synthetic antibacterial agents through detailed reviews of diseases and their control using alternative approaches. The book aims at explaining bacterial diseases and their control via synthetic drugs replaced by chemicals obtained from different natural resources which present a future direction in the pharmaceutical industry. The book attempts to present emerging low cost and environmentally friendly drugs that are free from side effects studied in the overlapping disciplines of medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology and pharmacology.
Book Synopsis Theory of Elementary Particles by : Harald Dorn
Download or read book Theory of Elementary Particles written by Harald Dorn and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 1998-10-27 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: H. Dorn, D. Lüst, G. Weight (eds.) Theory of Elementary Particles Following a long-standing tradition, the 1997 Symposium Ahrenshoop brought together a remarkable set of leading scientists in both string theory and lattice theory. The contributions in this volume represent a big part of the most active research in these rapidly advancing fields. Experts from Europe, the USA, Russia, India and Japan discuss their recent results on strings, branes, M-theory, lattice gauge theory and non-perturbative QCD. A major issue is the comparison of non-perturbative results obtained in (supersymmetric) field theories or superstring theory with results from lattice models. An invaluable source of topical information for every scientist working in elementary particle theory!
