Book Synopsis College Beyond the States: European Schools That Will Change Your Life Without Breaking the Bank by : Jennifer Viemont

This book was released on 2018-06-26 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are you worried about how to pay for college? Are admissions requirements dictating your family's lives? Are you concerned about your child's job prospects after graduation? If any of these questions resonate with you, it's time to consider college in Europe. As a mother confronted by these issues, Jennifer Viemont took it upon herself to meticulously research, personally visit, and carefully consider the alternatives in continental Europe. She found over 300 accredited universities offering high-quality bachelor's degree programs taught entirely in English--no foreign language skills needed--for a fraction of what American schools charge. You'll be amazed to find that, in many cases, the cost of earning an entire bachelor's degree (including travel costs) is less than just one year of tuition at an American university. College Beyond the States details the top 13 European schools that offer: Reasonable tuition fees well below any US option Transparent and attainable admissions criteria An exceptional international student environment Informative, empowering, and hopeful, College Beyond the States is an invaluable resource for both parents and students alike, and offers an appealing way to opt out of a system that no longer works for most families.

Download or read book American Universities Abroad written by Ted Purinton and published by American University in Cairo Press. This book was released on 2017-10-20 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Across the globe, American-style and liberal arts universities are being established. From the first, the American University of Beirut, established in 1866, to the liberal arts institutions being established in Saudi Arabia, Ghana, and elsewhere in the twenty-first century, there is a clear sense of the global desire for the American approach to higher education as a way of counteracting traditional, more narrowly defined university educations. However, these universities operate in a distinctive dynamic that must learn to bridge one culture with another, and leadership of such institutions must by its nature focus on such complexities and tensions. Throughout the chapters of this book, this unique element of these universities will be better understood through the stories and experiences as presented by their presidents, provosts, and other academic leaders.
Book Synopsis Understanding International Students from Asia in American Universities by : Yingyi Ma
Download or read book Understanding International Students from Asia in American Universities written by Yingyi Ma and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-10-20 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about international students from Asia studying at American universities in the age of globalization. It explores significant questions, such as: Why do they want to study in America? How do they make their college choices? To what extent do they integrate with domestic students, and what are the barriers for intergroup friendship? How do faculty and administrators at American institutions respond to changing campus and classroom dynamics with a growing student body from Asia? Have we provided them with the skills they need to succeed professionally? As they are preparing to become the educational, managerial and entrepreneurial elites of the world, do Asian international students plan to stay in the U.S. or return to their home country? Asian students constitute over 70 percent of all international students. Almost every major American university now faces unprecedented enrollment growth from Asian students. However, American universities rarely consider if they truly understand the experiences and needs of these students. This book argues that American universities need to learn about their Asian international students to be able to learn from them. It challenges the traditional framework that emphasizes adjustment and adaptation on the part of international students. It argues for the urgency to shift from this framework to the one calling for proactive institutional efforts to bring about successful experiences of international students.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook describes international programs for undergraduates, provides a short section on selected consortia, and suggests ideas for widening international education. The programs selected for this volume met certain criteria. In addition to being effective, the programs do not place a large strain on institutional budgets and can be easily adapted by others. The volume is arranged into four chapters. Chapter I, the largest section, describes over 60 two-year and four-year college and university programs. Chapter II describes six consortia programs. Each description includes a brief introduction to the institution and an overview of the international aspects of the curriculum as well as information about how the international aspects are organized, the educational impact, and the resource persons who can be contacted for further information. Chapter III presents worthwhile, imaginative ideas that are used at other institutions. Chapter IV consists of a thematic index that lists each program or approach under general program theme or pedagogic approach categories, such as foreign languages, study abroad, and integrated curriculum.
