The defect Of this decision is, that it appears to rest on similarity Of names; but it does not involve any improbability, nor require to be supported by any forced interpretation. The Issedones therefore maybe supposed to have occupied the eastern slope Of the Ural, on the rivers Iset and Tobol, having for neighbours on the south 2, the Massagetae, who then spread over the Steppes now possessed by the Kirghis hordes.
