This book was released on 2014-09-30 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is published for those who need hope in God. It sounds too good to be true that God would reveal himself to a team of four missionarys like He did. However, it was real and was experienced by a team who were carried into God's glory. I experienced the reality of God's Glory at a meeting at Evangel Christian Fellowship, Sacramento, CA, in 2002. Missionary Stephen Gray was preaching about God's Glory and I was so immobilized by the presence and weight of God's Glory that filled the church that I stood without moving. I just reveled in God's presence and His love that surrounded and filled me. -Shelley Grimwood, RN, BSN. I will never forget, when Stephen Gray prayed for me it was like a mighty rushing wind, when the Holy Spirit literally blew in the room, filled me with the Glory of the Lord and I was changed in a moment never to be the same again. -Debbie Walters, Laurel Mississippi

Book excerpt: Zambia Home tells the true story of one missionary nurse’s amazing journey in Zambia, Africa, as she grapples with local politics, spiritual warfare, and personal grief. One of the great unsung Christian heroes of our time, Arlene Schuiteman’s story will touch your heart and embolden your spirit to declare the glory of God to the next generation. At age nineteen, Arlene Schuiteman began keeping a journal. That daily discipline continued throughout her life, including thirty-four years of nursing and teaching in three African countries: South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Zambia. She then placed her Africa journals and letters into the hands of her friend, playwright Jeff Barker. He adapted Arlene’s writings into plays, and now they have become a book series: Sioux Center Sudan, Iowa Ethiopia, and Zambia Home. This third book in the trilogy covers the final decade of Arlene’s career, starting with the birth of a nation and passing through the death of Arlene’s mother. Arlene grapples with radically changing infrastructures and the Zambianization of medicine. Then, as she nears the end of her career, the HTLV-3 virus stuns the world. Arlene’s spiritual and emotional journal has never been richer or more complex than this fitting final chapter of her amazing journey. Arlene’s story has the power to transfix, pierce, and heal. This is more than historical record. Here is a winsome saga that declares the power of God to the next generation.

Book Synopsis Precious Memories of Missionaries of Color by : Carol Hammond
Download or read book Precious Memories of Missionaries of Color written by Carol Hammond and published by Pleasant Word. This book was released on 2008 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Precious Memories of Missionaries of Color chronicles the many experiences, contributions and memories of Seventh-day Adventist missionaries of African descent from 1892 to the present. These dedicated saints traveled far from their loved ones and homes to places they had only heard about, to cultures that were sometimes radically different from their own. The people they encountered in these far-away countries welcomed them with open arms and embraced and loved them. At times, however, there were also tense moments of danger and illness, and yet these missionaries trusted in God and stood firm in their desire to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others and to bring health and educational opportunities to those they served. Elder and Mrs. Giddings tell a story that illustrates the value placed on education in many countries. At one of the schools in the Ivory Coast, more than 900 students were present for registration to the school on the first day. Some of these students had been standing in line since the break of dawn. They were required to show a birth certificate at the time of registration, and one man, with whiskers very much in evidence on his face, presented Adventist workers with a birth certificate that indicated he was eight years old. Precious Memories of Missionaries of Color will grab your attention from the very first and each experience recounted will remind readers how God moves in mighty ways. Th e missionaries preached the gospel and people came by the hundreds. To God be the glory! Carol H. Hammond, Ph.D. is currently an Adjunct Professor at Bowie State University and Columbia Union College in Maryland. She served for many years as an elementary teacher in theU.S. and Africa. She has been listed twice in Who's Who Among Teachers in America. Her latest publication was in January, 2004 in the Journal of Adventist Education, entitled Are Standardized Tests Being Used Appropriately? Carol is married to James M. Hammond, Ph.D. and is the mother of four adult children and the grandmother of ten.

Book Synopsis The Pentecostal Mission in Palestine by : Eric Nelson Newberg
Download or read book The Pentecostal Mission in Palestine written by Eric Nelson Newberg and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2012-06-13 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Pentecostal mission in Palestine is a virtually unknown episode in the history of Pentecostalism. Its story begins in 1906 at the Azusa Street Revival, from which missionaries were sent to Palestine. In its first thirty years, the Pentecostal mission in Palestine gained a foothold in Jerusalem and expanded its reach into Jordan, Syria, and Iran. It was severely tested and lost traction during the tumultuous period of the Arab Revolts, World War II, and the Partition Crisis. With the catastrophic war of 1948, the Pentecostal missionaries fled as their Arab clients were swept away in the Palestinian Diaspora. After 1948, a valiant attempt was made to revive the mission, but only with relative success. Although the Pentecostal missionaries failed in their objective of converting Jews and Muslims, they were eyewitnesses of the formative events of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Newberg argues that the Pentecostal missionaries functioned as brokers of Pentecostal Zionism. He offers a postcolonial assessment of the Pentecostal missionaries, crediting them for advocating philosemitism, yet bringing them up short for disregarding the civil rights of Palestinian Arabs, espousing Islamophobia, and contributing to the forces working against peace in the Holy Land.
