This book was released on 2019-01-14 with total page 557 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Download or read book Crisanta Knight: The Lost King written by Geanna Culbertson and published by BQB Publishing. This book was released on 2019-11-01 with total page 538 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Book 6 in the Crisanta Knight series. Oh what a difference a day makes. When I was back at Lady Agnue’s School for Princesses & Other Female Protagonists, I used to wonder how I would make it through an entire day of classes, magic training, and homework. As the legendary magic flux known as the Vicennalia Aurora emerged, I wondered how I could possibly overthrow the evil king of Camelot, defeat Glinda in Oz, and get back in time to stop the antagonists from breaking out of Alderon and invading my world of Book—all in one day. I guess that’s what good friends are for. Good friends, and magic. My epic powers to give life and take it away were getting stronger and being heightened by the Vicennalia Aurora, so I had the ammunition to challenge every obstacle and villain that came our way. However, one problem remained: How could I unleash my magic to achieve our goals and defeat our enemies while keeping the power from corrupting me? From Merlin to the Fairy Godmother Supreme, everywhere I’d gone in recent days I’d been supplemented by powerful people who all thought they knew what I was capable of and how my morality should develop. But they didn’t understand my burden. I wanted to save all the realms that needed me; I wanted to save everyone. But could I do that and save myself from succumbing to the disease ingrained in my magic? I didn’t know. I sure missed the days of homework though.

Download or read book Arthur written by Mikael Lindnord and published by Greystone Books Ltd. This book was released on 2017-09-09 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The epic true story of an extreme athlete, a stray dog, and how they found each other—now a major motion picture from Lionsgate starring Mark Walhberg and Simu Liu. “A miraculous tale.”—Washington Post “Like all great tales, this one had an intriguing start: a small good deed with enormous consequences for the dog and his rescuers, the basis for a heroic and heartwarming story.”—Forbes When you're racing 435 miles through the jungles and mountains of South America, the last thing you need is a stray dog tagging along. But that's exactly what happened to Mikael Lindnord, captain of a Swedish adventure racing team, when he threw a scruffy but dignified mongrel a meatball one afternoon. When the team left the next day, the dog followed. Try as they might, they couldn't lose him—and soon Mikael realized that he didn't want to. Crossing rivers, battling illness and injury, and struggling through some of the toughest terrain on the planet, the team and the dog walked, kayaked, cycled, and climbed together toward the finish line, where Mikael decided he would save the dog, now named Arthur, and bring him back to his family in Sweden, whatever it took. Illustrated with candid photographs, Arthur provides a testament to the amazing bond between dogs and people.
Book Synopsis A Genealogy of Islamic Feminism by : Etin Anwar
Download or read book A Genealogy of Islamic Feminism written by Etin Anwar and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-03-28 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Genealogy of Islamic Feminism offers a new insight on the changing relationship between Islam and feminism from the colonial era in the 1900s to the early 1990s in Indonesia. The book juxtaposes both colonial and postcolonial sites to show the changes and the patterns of the encounters between Islam and feminism within the global and local nexus. Global forces include Dutch colonialism, developmentalism, transnational feminism, and the United Nations’ institutional bodies and their conferences. Local factors are comprised of women’s movements, adat (customs), nationalism, the politics underlying the imposition of Pancasila ideology and maternal virtues, and variations of Islamic revivalism. Using a genealogical approach, the book examines the multifaceted encounters between Islam and feminism and attempts to rediscover egalitarianism in the Islamic tradition—a concept which has been subjugated by hierarchical gender systems. The book also systematizes Muslim women’s encounters with Islam and feminism into five phases: emancipation, association, development, integration, and proliferation eras. Each era discusses the confluence of global and local factors which shape the changing relationship between Islam and feminism and the way in which the discursive narrative of equality is debated and contextualized, progressing from biological determinism (kodrat) to the ethico-spiritual argument. Islamic feminism contributes to the rediscovery of Islam as the source of progress, the centering of women’s agency through spiritual equality, and the reworking of the private and public spheres. This book will appeal to anyone with interest in international women’s movements, interdisciplinary studies, cultural studies, women’s studies, post-colonial studies, Islamic studies, and Asian studies.

Book Synopsis The Hunchback of Notre Dame by : Victor Hugo
Download or read book The Hunchback of Notre Dame written by Victor Hugo and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2020-04-14 with total page 624 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This historically significant novel of love and betrayal led to a renewed interest in preserving the grand architecture of Paris. Victor Hugo’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame was written in 1831, at a time when the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris was falling into disrepair. This epic novel helped spark a preservationist movement that led to the cathedral being restored to its full glory. Set in 1482, the story tells of how four men—the hunchbacked bell-ringer, Quasimodo; the archdeacon of Notre Dame, Claude Frollo; the dashing soldier Phoebus de Chateaupers; and the poet Pierre Gringoire—vie for the love of Esmeralda, a young Romani woman. As the story unfolds, readers come to realize that the focus of the story is not only on the human characters but on the grand cathedral itself.
