Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Author writes, "I see myself as a scientist who has discovered some very important factors in the development of individuals and civilizations; and my theory is an explanation of both what makes people highly creative and what makes societies grow, prosper, and decline." The author encapsulates his theory with the acronym GAM/DP. GAM -- Individual: Three factors contribute to the development of personality and creativity of the individual. Good genetic endowment (G) e.g., intelligence, temperaments, specific talents, and by valid assistances (A) e.g., from parents, schools, books when combined with major misfortunes (M) of youth e.g., early parental death, physical infirmity, stimulates a personality which conflicts with society, providing in that tension material for creativity. DP -- Society: A society is creative where it develops within long periods when power is fought or grudgingly shared. Such division of power (DP) e.g. between emperor and pope, between state and church; between two or more major ideologies, fosters critical thinking. People begin to mistrust the power holder. They have the courage to speak their mind, to be creative on matters that are not those wanted by the power holder. This important, revolutionary theory combines for the first time these two aspects of personality and creativity ¿ those particular to a given number of a social group (GAM), as well as those unique to that society (DP). In this volume VI, Therivel has researched extensively on Tagore¿s High GxAxMXDP, the high creativity of Rabbinic Judaism and its Talmud, and Nine Eminent Women. This theory applies equally to Eastern and Western creators, Eastern and Western civilization, and women.

Download or read book High Creativity Unmasked written by William A. Therivel and published by Kirk House Pub. This book was released on 2010 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Creativity has been a driving force in the development of civilizations and in raising individuals to fame and/or fortune. What makes one person creative and one society achieve great stature and influence? Unmasking that high creativity is the task of this book. The author looks beneath the surface for the roots of creativity and solves some of the fascinating enigmas. The author¿s GAM/DP theory of personality and creativity is outlined in the first two chapters. The first (GAM) illustrates the three factors -- Genetic Endowment, Assistances and Misfortunes ¿ which contribute to the personality and creativity of the individual. The second (DP) on Division of Power in a society identifies the author¿s theory behind societal development. The GAM/DP theory also explains, and can readily predict, why great creators are either foxes (people who know many things) or hedgehogs (people who focus on one big idea), in Isaiah Berlin's famous classification of all writers and thinkers. The reader will find interesting the authors application of his theory to two great foxes, Italo Calvino and Goethe.
Book Synopsis Societal Dynamics and Fragility by : Alexandre Marc
Download or read book Societal Dynamics and Fragility written by Alexandre Marc and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2012-10-12 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Societal Dynamics and Fragility aims to address the social dimensions of fragility. Prepared as a complement to the 2011 World Development Report, this book frames fragility as a problem not only of state capacity, but also of relationships in society. Drawing on analytical work in Liberia, Central African Republic, Yemen, Indonesia (Aceh) and Haiti, it recommends placing social cohesion at the center of development efforts in fragile environments by cultivating an in-depth understanding of the societal dynamics at play in each context and adapting programs to address the sources of division that hinder state building. Specifically, the book advocates a focus on perceptions of injustice at least as much as measurable inequalities, and for creating space to facilitate constructive connections between institutions, especially between customary and state structures as well as often-nascent civil society institutions.
