Book excerpt: While many of us struggle to understand it, the Trinity is one of the most important teachings of the Christian faith. It defines God's very essence and describes how he relates to us. And while it can be a difficult concept to get our heads around, it is crucial for believers to understand how God explains his triune nature in his Word. In this book, James R. White offers a concise, understandable explanation of what the Trinity is and why it matters. While refuting the distortions of God presented by various cults, Dr. White shows how understanding this teaching leads to renewed worship and a deeper understanding of what it means to be a Christian. And amid today's emphasis on the renewing work of the Holy Spirit, The Forgotten Trinity is a balanced look at all three persons of the Trinity. May this book deepen your understanding of this important doctrine while also drawing you closer to the triune God himself.

Ehrman offers a fascinating look at these early forms of Christianity and shows how they came to be suppressed, reformed, or forgotten. All of these groups insisted that they upheld the teachings of Jesus and his apostles, and they all possessed writings that bore out their claims, books reputedly produced by Jesus' own followers. Scrupulously researched and lucidly written, Lost Christianities is an eye-opening account of politics, power, and the clash of ideas among Christians in the decades before one group came to see its views prevail.

Praise for The Jesus I Never Knew: "This is the best book about Jesus I have ever read, probably the best book about Jesus in the whole century. Yancey gently took away my blinders and blazed the trail through my own doubting fears, pious know-it-all, and critical balderdash until I saw the Savior anew and thought I heard him ask me, 'Now whom do you say that I am?' and I understood the question as I never had before." --Lewis B. Smedes, Senior Professor, Fuller Seminary "Philip Yancey takes the reader with him on his very personal journey to Jesus. In The Jesus I Never Knew, I became convinced that the Jesus I met--in some ways for the first time--has known me all along. This book is destined to become a favorite--to recommend to those still seeking Jesus and to pass along to those who've met him, but long to know him more." --Elisa Morgan, President Emerita, MOPS International

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the hearts of all mankind, of whatever race or station in life, there -. are inexpressible longings for something they do not now possess. This longing is implanted in the very constitution of man by a merciful God, that man may not be satisfied with his present conditions or attainments, whether bad, or good, or better. God desires that the human shallseek the best, and find it to the eternal blessing of his soul. Satan, by wily scheme and craft, has perverted these longings of the human heart. He makes men believe that this desire may be satisfied by pleasure, by wealth, by-ease, by fame, by power; but those who have been thus deceived by him (and they number myriads) find all these things pall upon the sense, leaving the soul as barren and unsatisfied as before. It is God's design that this longing of the human heart should lead to the One, who alone is able to satisfy it. The desire is of Him that it may lead to Him, the fullness and fulfillment of that desire. That fullness is found in Jesus the Christ, the Son of the Eternal God. "Forit was the good pleasure of the Father that in Him should all the fullness dwell;" "for in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily." And it is also true that "in Him ye are made full" with respect to every desire divinely implanted and normally followed. Haggai calls Him "the Desire of all nations," and we may well call Him "the Desire of all ages," even as He is "the King of ages." It is the purpose of this book to set forth Jesus Christ as the One in whom every longing may be satisfied. There is many a "Life of Christ" written, excellent, books, large funds of information, elaborate 'essays on chronology and contemporaneous history, customs, and events, with much of the teaching and many glimpses of the many-sided life of Jesus of Nazareth. Yet it may be truly.said, "The half has never been told." It is not, however, the purpose of this work to set forth a harmony of the Gospels, or even to give in stricdy chronological order the important events and wonderful Iessons of the life of Christ; its purpose is to present the love of God as revealed in His Son, the divine beauty of life of Christ, of which a1l may partake, and not to satisfy the desires of the .merely curious nor the questionings of critics. But even as . the attraetl.on of His own goodness of character Jesus drew His disciples unto himself, and his personal presence by His sympathetic touch and feeling in all their infirmities and needs, and by his constantassocaition, transformed their characters from the erathly to the heavenly, from the selfish to the sacrificing, from the small hearted ignorance and prejudice to largehearted knowledge and profound love for soulsof all nations and races, even so it is the purpose of this book so to presentthe blessed Redeemer as to helpthe readerto come to Him face to face, herat to heart, and find in Him even as did the diciples of old, Jesus the Mighty One, who saves "ot the uttermost," and transforms to HIs own divine image all of those who come unto God by Him. Yet how impossibleit is to revealHis life! It is like attemptingto putupos canvas the livingrainbow; into charaters of black and white the sweetest music.

Through fair, contextual use of the Qur'an as the primary source text, apologist James R. White presents Islamic beliefs about Christ, salvation, the Trinity, the afterlife, and other important topics. White shows how the sacred text of Islam differs from the teachings of the Bible in order to help Christians engage in open, honest discussions with Muslims.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Origins: Mankind's Forgotten History and His Story Revealed is a title with two meanings. When you read the title And His Story Revealed, the reader will automatically think that the story of mankind's forgotten history will be told to them, and indeed it will. What the reader will also come to realize is the book title has a double meaning. The second meaning of His Story Revealed is the life story and meaning of the life of Christ. In the chapter "Who is Jesus?", Arthur John Manuel will explain who Jesus is and all the answers for the question why Jesus was. He will explain in detail all the reasons why, it will explain Mary and Joseph in detail and the lineage so the reader can understand exactly why Christ had to be born through the love/union of these two people. He will also explain the importance of the blood and the life sacrifice of Jesus Christ, our high priest and savior. As the reader continues on, he will read about the creation periods on earth and of men. This new method of explanation will agree with all the evidence in the world around us today, and it will fit in the pieces to the puzzle of our forgotten history, remnants of a once glorious past left behind as evidence of a forgotten history. Author John Manuel will explain Genesis and the creation period in a new light that completely agrees with the evidence left behind and those forgotten ancient cultures. The skeptic will definitely reconsider his skepticism after reading this new method of explanation. This is where the title's first reading comes into play, Mankind's Forgotten History. This chapter will tell the story of mankind's forgotten history. Have you ever wondered about evil spirits and the meaning of a spiritual world? Well, John Manual will explain where they come from and who evil and unclean spirits were and their goals. He'll explain of the rules they must live by, the power we have over them through Jesus and the Holy Spirit, a short summary on how to do battle against them, with the prayer of spiritual cleansing body, mind, and soul. And after, the reader will understand that spirits and mankind coexist in our physical world. Ever wondered about angels? The author explains these angelic race of beings who are the sons of God, where they were created by God. Note that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. This book will explain the difference in this chapter. The reader will learn of the forgotten path of earth, preflood, and the role angels played against Satan and his forces of evil in mankind's forgotten history. Have you ever wondered of an ancient world? This book will explain logically who God is, how he created us, why we were created. When you read about how the author explains why mankind is missing the last steps of our own evolution because of greed, you'll agree with the fact that mankind has not evolved, and the past 8,000 years of technological advances does not mean we have. An atheist will question his own belief. And last, author John Manuel will argue the fact that Jesus Christ is indeed the Messiah using father Abraham and his actions for sanctification examples. I'll stop there. If you want to know more you must first read this entire book. To the readers from the author: Hello my friend. I just first want to say thank you for purchasing the book. I want to encourage you to buy it for all who don't believe in God. We all have loved ones we care about, and we want them to enjoy eternity with our maker and our savior. This book is written from above. Believe me when I say this, when I write, I'm only writing what I've been shown and taught through visions and dreams. Although I may be the author, and my name is on this book, God gets all the credit. Remember always, God worked and then he rested when he created earth and everything in it. So we must first work to enter into his rest. This life that we have is our only chance to work for him. Once it is over, that's it. No work will be done, ever. I urge you work hard for God and win souls for Christ. He died for all souls. He deserves every one of them. Work for him in this life, invest in your eternal life so you can enjoy the splendor of your reward-an eternal life with the heavenly trinity on a new earth, forever and ever. God bless you all. Mark said at the beginning of His public ministry, Jesus came into Galilee preaching the gospel of God, saying "The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the gospel." When demons saw the new King, they trembled and cried out, "Have you come to destroy us?" After three years of preaching His kingdom, Jesus promised, "This gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the earth ..." In the book of Acts, "They believed Philip preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God ..." Forgotten Gospel investigates: - How and when our modern gospel began to drift from that of Scripture. - Where the bible of Judaism specifically defined "the kingdom of God." - How the Gospel of the kingdom illuminates the atonement messages of the apostles.

Book excerpt: When world-class biblical scholar Bart Ehrman first began to study the texts of the Bible in their original languages he was startled to discover the multitude of mistakes and intentional alterations that had been made by earlier translators. In Misquoting Jesus, Ehrman tells the story behind the mistakes and changes that ancient scribes made to the New Testament and shows the great impact they had upon the Bible we use today. He frames his account with personal reflections on how his study of the Greek manuscripts made him abandon his once ultraconservative views of the Bible. Since the advent of the printing press and the accurate reproduction of texts, most people have assumed that when they read the New Testament they are reading an exact copy of Jesus's words or Saint Paul's writings. And yet, for almost fifteen hundred years these manuscripts were hand copied by scribes who were deeply influenced by the cultural, theological, and political disputes of their day. Both mistakes and intentional changes abound in the surviving manuscripts, making the original words difficult to reconstruct. For the first time, Ehrman reveals where and why these changes were made and how scholars go about reconstructing the original words of the New Testament as closely as possible. Ehrman makes the provocative case that many of our cherished biblical stories and widely held beliefs concerning the divinity of Jesus, the Trinity, and the divine origins of the Bible itself stem from both intentional and accidental alterations by scribes -- alterations that dramatically affected all subsequent versions of the Bible.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You might be surprised to find that God is not a trinity. The Trinity is one of mainstream Christianity’s most widely accepted and revered doctrines held by millions of Catholics, Protestants and Orthodox believers. The belief that God is three persons—the Father, Son and Holy Spirit—coexisting in one being is how the trinity doctrine is often defined. But the word trinity appears nowhere within the pages of the Bible. You can not cling to long-held religious traditions if they contradict the Scriptures. Your beliefs must rest solidly on the teachings of the Holy Bible. This Bible Study aid, "Is God a Trinity?", goes into great detail explaning the non-biblical origins of the trinity and how this false gospel replaced the true teachings of Jesus Christ. Discover how the Bible communicates a true picture of God and learn about the awesome plan He has promised for you and all mankind. Chapters in this ebook: -- Is the Trinity Biblical? -- The Surprising Origins of the Trinity Doctrine -- Greek Philosophy's Influence on the Trinity Doctrine -- How Ancient Trinitarian Gods Influenced Adoption of the Trinity -- A Spurious Reference to the Trinity Added in 1 John 5:7-8 -- How Is God Revealed in the Bible? -- Jesus Was Sent by the Father -- Jesus Christ: "The Rock" of the Old Testament -- The Apostles Understood Jesus to Be the Creator -- Did Jesus Christ Claim to Be God? -- "In the Beginning Was the Word" -- The Claim of Jesus' Disciples -- "There Is One God, the Father...and One Lord, Jesus Christ" -- God's Plan to "Bring Many Sons to Glory" -- Jesus Christ's Submission to the Father -- How Is God One? -- "The Lord Our God, the Lord Is One" -- Seven Scriptures That Debunk the Trinity as a Single Being -- Elohim: The Plurality of God -- Is the Holy Spirit a Person? -- Does Matthew 28:19 Prove the Trinity? -- Why the Holy Spirit Is Sometimes Incorrectly Referred to as "He" and "Him" -- What About Passages That "Prove" the Trinity? -- The Holy Spirit: God's Transforming Power -- How to Stir Up God's Spirit -- God's Nature and Character -- God's Purpose for You -- The Likeness of God -- Do Some Verses Deny a Divine Family? -- The God Family Inside this Bible Study Aid ebook: "Most people assume that everything that bears the label “Christian” must have originated with Jesus Christ and His early followers. But this is definitely not the case." "Many historians and religious scholars, some quoted in this publication, attest to the influence of Greek or Platonic philosophy in the development and acceptance of the Trinity doctrine in the fourth century." God the Father is the One who calls us to baptism and a new way of life (John 6:44, 65), and it is His goodness that leads us to repentance and baptism (Romans 2:4). "As even the New Catholic Encyclopedia, quoted from earlier, acknowledges: “The majority of New Testament texts reveal God’s spirit as something, not someone; this is especially seen in the parallelism between the spirit and the power of God..."

Book excerpt: Professor Wells argues that there was no historical Jesus, and in thus arguing he deals with the many recent writers who have interpreted the historical Jesus as some kind of political figure in the struggle against Rome, and calls in evidence the many contemporary theologians who agree with some of his arguments about early Christianity. The question at issue is what all the evidence adds up to. Does it establish that Jesus did or did not exist? Professor Wells concludes that the latter is the more likely hypothesis. This challenge to received thinking by both Christians and non-Christians is supported by much documentary evidence, and Professor Wells carefully examines all the relevant problems and answers all the relevant questions. He deliberately avoids polemic and speculation, and sticks so far as possible to the known facts and to rational inferences from the facts.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Holistic mission, or integral mission, implies God is concerned with the whole person, the whole community: body, mind and spirit. Many Christians concentrate only on one aspect. This book reaffirms that to be true to the Bible, to follow the example of Jesus, the church must address the whole person in all their needs. It considers the meaning of the holistic gospel, how it has developed, and implications for the individual Christian, for the local church, for denominations and church groups, for missionary societies, for Christian NGOs, and for theological training institutions. It takes a global, eclectic approach, with 19 writers, church leaders, academics and practitioners, all of whom have much experience in, and commitment to, holistic mission. It addresses critically and honestly one of the most exciting, challenging, and important issues facing the church today. To be part of God's plan for God's people, the church must take holistic mission to the world.
