Book excerpt: In The Book of Women: A Celebration of Women and the Female Spirit, one of the twentieth century’s greatest spiritual teachers discusses the importance and value of feminine strengths. “The woman should search into her own soul for her own potential and develop it, and she will have a beautiful future.”—Osho Osho explores the role of women in our society. Up until now, he says, both religious institutions and politics have remained male-dominated—not only male-dominated but male-chauvinistic. This has created so many of the crises that we see in the world now, brought about by excesses of ambition, competitiveness, and greed. In these pages, Osho challenges readers to reclaim and assert the feminine qualities of love, joy, and celebration to bring a reunion of the intellect and the heart that is so desperately needed. He looks to the female spirit in all of us as a way to nurture the soul and cultivate a healthy relationship with spirituality. Osho challenges readers to examine and break free of the conditioned belief systems and prejudices that limit their capacity to enjoy life in all its richness. He has been described by the Sunday Times of London as one of the “1000 Makers of the 20th Century” and by Sunday Mid-Day(India) as one of the ten people—along with Gandhi, Nehru, and Buddha—who have changed the destiny of India. Since his death in 1990, the influence of his teachings continues to expand, reaching seekers of all ages in virtually every country of the world.

Book excerpt: The Holy Spirit: The Feminine Nature of God by Patricia Taylor This book presents the evidence that God is both male and female. No, God does not have a gender because He does not have a physical body, but He clearly reflects masculine and feminine qualities in His nature. In the Old Testament, the God of the Jews, Christians and Muslims is presented as Jehovah (LORD) and also Shekhinah (Holy Spirit). Jehovah God calls Himself Father and carries out that role through provision, protection and discipline. The Shekhinah Glory of God permeated the earth and interacted with God's people. She was often portrayed as a loving, nurturing mother. The words used for the Holy Spirit were originally feminine, but with translations into other languages, the pronouns describing Her were changed to masculine forms. Whether deliberate or not, over time, this quality of the nature of God was lost, and these three religions developed into patriarchal systems that suppressed the importance of feminine input into not only religious systems, but also society as a whole. Many writers and theologians down through history have recognized this fact, but it is denied or overlooked by mainstream religions today. Early Church Fathers (including Clement, Philo, and Jerome), prominent medieval church leaders (Anselm of Canterbury, Bernard of Clairvoux, St. Birgitta of Sweden and many others) and more modern day leaders (Martin Luther, Oswald Chambers, Albert Einstein and Carl Jung) have all supported the truth of the feminine nature of God. Though these people are held in high regard by many, this aspect of their reasoning is completely ignored. Why is this subject not taken seriously? A.W. Tozer said it is impossible to have sound moral practices and right attitudes without a clear view of who God is. Billy Graham said the next step in the growth of the Church is to better understand the nature and work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. There are many small voices who are promoting this truth of God, but they are not being heard by the average person. It is time to shout this truth to the world and watch how it can transform the position of women and bring balance and health to hurting families and societies. Whether you are a Christian, Jew, Muslim or Atheist, this information is important to you personally because religious views have, and still do, establish our value systems and political issues at a national level. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Humanity has been given access to the secrets of oneness, but we need to learn how to work with them. Working with Oneness brings mysticism into the center of the marketplace, into the world of business and technology, and shows how we can work with it in everyday life. The dynamic energy of oneness has the potential to heal the planet and revolutionize life more than we can imagine, but it requires our individual participation and awareness to become fully alive. The energy of oneness is already present but waiting to be lived, and Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee provides a blueprint for working consciously with this energy. As we understand how our consciousness affects the whole fabric of life, the potential for real global change comes alive. Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee stresses the need to change from hierarchical, patriarchal power structures to organic patterns that allow for the free flow of energy and ideas. Through these patterns the dynamic energy of oneness can become part of everyday life. Working with Oneness includes a number of additional important topics, including: the changing energy structure of the planet and how to work with it; the power of individual consciousness; the danger of the desire for spiritual security; the return of joy to everyday life; the awakening of the heart of the world; a new understanding of magic; the use of the imagination; and mystical participation in life with the energy of oneness. Working with Oneness offers guidance on how to work with the energy of oneness, to learn how to participate in life free of the patterns of the past, so that the divine can come alive in every moment of every day. Working with Oneness is mystical activism at its most potent. “There is a growing and eager audience waiting for a vision of unity consciousness... Working with Oneness offers a salutary antidote to worn-out antagonisms. It challenges readers to join other kindred souls in a mystical activism that can bring new hope to humanity.” —Spirituality & Health “A book filled with wonder and the kind of insights that can leap out to your heart and gladden you for having read them. It's words are simple and straightforward—always a blessing—but its message it the most vital and important for the time in which we live. I recommend it.” —David Spangler, author, Blessings: the Art and the Practice

Book excerpt: A guidepost for women through healing, self-discovery and finding balance, purpose and strength, this book is a portal into a three step process of 1.Sacred Surrender (letting go of your guilt, story, blocks and resistance to what is holding you back from reaching your best life), 2. Sacred Embodiment (learning to feel and process through your body, becoming present, understanding energy and healing), and 3. Sacred Expansion (opening to miracles, synchronicities and your life's purpose). In this book you explore how it would feel to: a. experience the transcendent power of letting go, b. live the life you have always wanted with passion and purpose, c. heal from past traumas, relationships, life events and emotional wounds, honor and trust your intuition, knowing you are spiritually guided at all times, d. express yourself freely and authentically in your feminine energy and presence, e. connect to the sacred wisdom within your body for balance, peace and strength, f. open to miracles, synchronicities and unconditional love through reconnecting to the Divine Feminine. We are living in a transcendent time unlike any other time on our planet. As women we are rising, like the Phoenix rises from the ashes. The shift is here and we feel it in our bones. It is a calling to heal completely and release what is holding us back so that we may step into our true purpose and reason for being here. This is the time for us to come together as women and men, rather than competing in a man's world. It is the time to own our greatness and reclaim our power. When we allow our internal light to shine, we become radiant. On your journey through the pages of this book, you will explore how to deepen your connection with the Divine through the Divine Feminine, Sacred Mother, Goddess (or any other name you choose); which is the place of beauty, compassion, forgiveness, receptivity and unconditional love. You will learn how to process your healing, embody your feminine essence, understand your energy, trust your intuition, and own your personal power. Everything you need or want is already embedded within.

Book excerpt: The Madwoman is a powerful psychological and emotional energy that lives in us all—both men and women—and speaks to us all, inhabiting our dreams, our lives, our collective cultural memory. Ignored or suppressed, she becomes a force of self-destruction; acknowledged and understood, she becomes a source of creativity and power. In this remarkable and revolutionary book, Linda Schierse Leonard explores how we can overcome the inner turmoil of contemporary life—unexpressed rage, the buildup of guilt and anxiety—by harnessing this primal expression of our natural instincts. From Medea to Ophelia to Thelma and Louise, the paradox and patterns of “madness” are as old as time. But the chain can be broken; the Madwoman within each of us can and must be freed, openly expressed, and transformed into a source of constructive, creative energy. Leonard draws upon an extraordinary range of sources—ancient myths and fairy tales, films and literature, contemporary and historical women’s lives—to design a model of empowerment for women today. With its fresh perspectives and bold insights, Meeting the Madwoman is a provocative work of profound cultural significance, one whose ideas are sure to resonate for years to come. Praise for Meeting the Madwoman “A book loaded with practical insights that’s also fun to read . . . With refreshing originality, Leonard reverses some traditional perceptions.”—New Woman “A vigorous exploration . . . Throughout, Leonard writes passionately, seeing the Madwoman as an empowering symbol and the discovery process as a spiritual exercise—a kind of purification and ultimate triumph of the feminine spirit.”—Kirkus Reviews

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dark, earthy, and immensely powerful, the Black Goddess has been a key force in world history, manifesting in images as diverse as the Indian goddess Kali and the Black Madonnas of medieval Europe. She embodies the energy of chaos and creativity, creation and destruction, death and rebirth. Images of Her, however, have been conspicuously missing in the Western world for centuries—until now, when awareness of the Goddess is re-arising in many spheres, from the women's movement to traditional religion, from the new discoveries of quantum physics to the dreams of ordinary men and women. Why now particularly? The answer provided by Marion Woodman and Elinor Dickson is bold and thrilling: the reemergence of the Divine Feminine in our time indicates our readiness to move to an entirely new level of consciousness. The reemerging Goddess calls for a shattering of rigid categories, a willingness to hold opposition. She calls us to marry reason and order to creativity, and to embrace the chaos that can ultimately lead to wisdom and transformation on personal and global levels.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To help celebrate the fourth centenary of the birth of St. John of the Cross in 1542, Edith Stein received the task of preparing a study of his writings. She uses her skill as a philosopher to enter into an illuminating reflection on the difference between the two symbols of cross and night. Pointing out how entering the night is synonymous with carrying the cross, she provides a condensed presentation of John's thought on the active and passive nights, as discussed in The Ascent of Mount Carmel and The Dark Night. All of this leads Edith to speak of the glory of resurrection that the soul shares, through a unitive contemplation described chiefly in The Living Flame of Love. In the summer of 1942, the Nazis without warrant took Edith away. The nuns found the manuscript of this profound study lying open in her room. Because of the Nazis' merciless persecution of Jews in Germany, Edith Stein traveled discreetly across the border into Holland to find safe harbor in the Carmel of Echt. But the Nazi invasion of Holland in 1940 again put Edith in danger. The cross weighed down heavily as those of Jewish birth were harassed. Sr. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross's superiors then assigned her a task they thought would take her mind off the threatening situation. The fourth centenary of the birth, of St. John of the Cross (1542) was approaching, and Edith could surely contribute a valuable study for the celebration. It is no surprise that in view of her circumstances she discovered in the subject of the cross a central viewpoint for her study. A subject like this enabled her to grasp John's unity of being as expressed in his life and works. Using her training in phenomenology, she helps the reader apprehend the difference in the symbolic character of cross and night and why the night-symbol prevails in John. She clarifies that detachment is designated by him as a night through which the soul must pass to reach union with God and points out how entering the night is equivalent to carrying the cross. Finally, in a fascinating way Edith speaks of how the heart or fountainhead of personal life, an inmost region, is present in both God and the soul and that in the spiritual marriage this inmost region is surrendered by each to the other. She observes that in the soul seized by God in contemplation all that is mortal is consumed in the fire of eternal love. The spirit as spirit is destined for immortal being, to move through fire along a path from the cross of Christ to the glory of his resurrection. Book includes two photos and fully linked index.
