Book Synopsis Properties of Aluminum Alloys by : John Gilbert Kaufman
Download or read book Properties of Aluminum Alloys written by John Gilbert Kaufman and published by ASM International. This book was released on 1999-01-01 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A compilation of data collected and maintained for many years as the property of a large aluminum company, which decided in 1997 to make it available to other engineers and materials specialists. In tabular form, presents data on the tensile and creep properties of eight species of wrought alloys and five species of cast alloys in the various shapes used in applications. Then looks at the fatigue data for several alloys under a range of conditions and loads. The data represent the typical or average findings, and though some were developed years ago, the collection is the largest and most detailed available. There is no index.
Book Synopsis High-Strength Low-Alloy Steels by : Ricardo Branco
Download or read book High-Strength Low-Alloy Steels written by Ricardo Branco and published by Mdpi AG. This book was released on 2021-10-25 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern industry, driven by the recent environmental policies, faces an urgent need for the production of lighter and more environmentally-friendly components. High-strength low-alloy steels are key materials in this challenging scenario because they provide a balanced combination of properties, such as strength, toughness, formability, weldability, and corrosion resistance. These features make them ideal for a myriad of engineering applications which experience complex loading conditions and aggressive media, such as aeronautical and automotive components, railway parts, offshore structures, oil and gas pipelines, power transmission towers, and construction machinery, among others. The goal of this book is to foster the dissemination of the latest research devoted to high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steels from different perspectives.

Download or read book Alloying written by Joseph R. Davis and published by ASM International. This book was released on 2001-01-01 with total page 658 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alloying: Understanding the Basics is a comprehensive guide to the influence of alloy additions on mechanical properties, physical properties, corrosion and chemical behavior, and processing and manufacturing characteristics. The coverage considers "alloying" to include any addition of an element or compound that interacts with a base metal to influence properties. Thus, the book addresses the beneficial effects of major alloy additions, inoculants, dopants, grain refiners, and other elements that have been deliberately added to improve performance, as well the detrimental effects of minor elements or residual (tramp) elements included in charge materials or that result from improper melting or refining techniques. The content is presented in a concise, user-friendly format. Numerous figures and tables are provided. The coverage has been weighted to provided the most detailed information on the most industrially important materials.
Book Synopsis Welding and Joining of Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS) by : Mahadev Shome
Download or read book Welding and Joining of Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS) written by Mahadev Shome and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2015-02-25 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Welding and Joining of Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS): The Automotive Industry discusses the ways advanced high strength steels (AHSS) are key to weight reduction in sectors such as automotive engineering. It includes a discussion on how welding can alter the microstructure in the heat affected zone, producing either excessive hardening or softening, and how these local changes create potential weaknesses that can lead to failure. This text reviews the range of welding and other joining technologies for AHSS and how they can be best used to maximize the potential of AHSS. - Reviews the properties and manufacturing techniques of advanced high strength steels (AHSS) - Examines welding processes, performance, and fatigue in AHSS - Focuses on AHSS welding and joining within the automotive industry

Book Synopsis Fatigue of Structures and Materials by : Jaap Schijve
Download or read book Fatigue of Structures and Materials written by Jaap Schijve and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-03-16 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is primarily a textbook. It is written for engineers, students and teachers, and it should also be useful for people working on various topics related to fatigue of structures and materials. The book can be used for graduate and undergraduate courses and for short courses for people already working in the industry, laboratories, or research institutes. Furthermore, the book offers various comments which can be useful to research-workers in order to consider the practical relevance of laboratory investigations and to plan future research. An important theme of the book is the understanding of what happens in the material of a structure in service if the structure is subjected to a spectrum of cyclic loads. Knowledge of the fatigue mechanism in the material and how it can be affected by a large variety of practical conditions is essential for dealing with fatigue problems. The designer of a dynamically loaded structure must “design against fatigue”. This includes not only the overall concept of the structure with related safety and economic aspects, but also questions on detail design, joints, production and material surface quality. At the same time, the designer must try to predict the fatigue performance of the structure. This requires a knowledge of the various influencing factors, also because predictions on fatigue have their limitations and shortcomings. Similar considerations arise if fatigue problems occur after a long period in service when decisions must be made on remedial actions.
Book Synopsis Mechanical Fatigue of Metals by : José A.F.O. Correia
Download or read book Mechanical Fatigue of Metals written by José A.F.O. Correia and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-05-07 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the XIX International Colloquium on Mechanical Fatigue of Metals, held at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Portugal, 5-7 September 2018. This International Colloquium facilitated and encouraged the exchange of knowledge and experiences among the different communities involved in both basic and applied research in the field of the fatigue of metals, looking at the problem of fatigue exploring analytical and numerical simulative approaches. Fatigue damage represents one of the most important types of damage to which structural materials are subjected in normal industrial services that can finally result in a sudden and unexpected abrupt fracture. Since metal alloys are still today the most used materials in designing the majority of components and structures able to carry the highest service loads, the study of the different aspects of metals fatigue attracts permanent attention of scientists, engineers and designers.
