Book excerpt: "From the craters of the moon, the jungle-ridden cities of prehistory, the world's scattered Pygmy tribes, and the columns of yesterday's newspaper comes new and thought-provoking evidence for the existence of space life." Such were the words on the original dust jacket of this, the first edition of "The Expanding Case For the UFO." First released in 1957, "The Expanding Case" was the sequel to perhaps the most notorious book in the history of ufology: "The Case For the UFO," which drew the interest of the U.S. Navy and resulted in the infamously annotated "Varo Edition."The annotator of the book, Carlos Allende, claimed to have been a witness to the Philadelphia Experiment. Allende seemed to think that the book's author, astronomer M.K. Jessup, knew more about the experiment than he was admitting, and had maybe played a role in it."The Expanding Case For the UFO" was the last book ever written by M.K. Jessup, and it ties together many of the controversial threads first exposed in "The Case for the UFO." This special reprint features the original "lost" introduction by noted zoologist Ivan T. Sanderson. As evidence to how dangerous this material was at the time, it was only two years later that Jessup - after experiencing threatening phone calls and alarming synchronicities "too unbelievable to describe" - would be found dead in a park in Dade County, Florida - supposedly a "suicide."While Allende claimed Jessup killed the hitman sent to terminate him, and was able to escape by trading identities with the hitman, the facts remain obscured - like the UFOs themselves - in a most intriguing fog.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first ever reprint of the book that brought the entire legend of the Philadelphia Experiment into the public sphere, and created controversy for decades: "The Case For the UFO!" Why has this book been suppressed for so many years? It is a well-reasoned review of the UFO record by an eminent astromomer, mathematician, and archaeologist: Dr. M.K. Jessup. His conclusions are breathtaking and incredible, but inescapable. Description from the original dust jacket:Flying saucers are not new! For thousands of years, men have seen mysterious objects in the skies. Now, a prominent scientists proves that unidentified flying objects originate here, on Earth. If you have ever wondered about the things today's scientists do not, will not, or cannot explain, this book is for you. Such questions might be:What is the hidden meaning of the comet's tail? What caused the "Devil's Footprints" of Devonshire? Why are we wrong to think of space flight only in terms of rocket power? How was a soldier "teleported" from the Phillippine Islands to Mexico City within one hour? What force lifted 1200-ton stones in ancient Peru? How is acceleration achieved by UFOs?What caused the disappearance of the crews of the SS Sea Bird and the Marie Celeste? Was the "secret" of space flight known 50,000 years ago? What is the strange truth hidden in the ancient ruins of Baalbek? And finally, and most importantly: Are the UFOs friend, or foe? This is the original edition of "The Case For the UFO," which does NOT include the scrawled "annotations" of the infamous Carlos Allende (who may or may not have tormented Jessup into committing suicide). You will find this version much easier to read than the Varo Edition, and probably much more meaningful.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paul Hill was a well-respected NASA scientist when, in the early 1950s, he had a UFO sighting. Soon after, he built the first flying platform and was able to duplicate the UFO's tilt-to-control maneuvers. Official policy, however, prevented him from proclaiming his findings. "I was destined," says Hill, "to be as unidentified as the flying objects." For the next twenty-five years, Hill acted as an unofficial clearinghouse at NASA, collecting and analyzing sightings' reports for physical properties, propulsion possibilities, dynamics, etc. To refute claims that UFOs defy the laws of physics, he had to make "technological sense... of the unconventional object." After his retirement from NASA, Hill finally completed his remarkable analysis. This book, published posthumously, presents his findings that UFOs "obey, not defy, the laws of physics." Vindicating his own sighting and thousands of others, he proves that UFO technology is not only explainable, but attainable.

Book excerpt: The ultimate guide to Project Blue Book by one of the lead astronomers for the US Air Force program to investigate UFO sightings. Originally released in 1977, this new edition by the world's foremost authority on UFOs distills 12,000 sightings and 140,000 pages of Project Blue Book evidence into a coherent explanation. A US Air Force - sponsored UFO-basher for years, Hynek had completely changed his tune by the late 1960s. Whether you believe in little green men or an official government cover-up policy, The Hynek UFO Report is required reading. Have UFOs really been reported by every nation across the globe? Can all the eyewitness reports simply be fantasy? Are we victims of mass hallucination or just plain lies? Have close encounters actually occurred? Is the government concealing deep secrets at a hidden location? The Hynek UFO Report is rational, logical, and realistic. It is for anyone interested in UFOs, the possibility of extraterrestrial life, and the role of the US government in hiding the truth from the public.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More than half of American adults and more than seventy-five percent of young Americans believe in intelligent extraterrestrial life. This level of belief rivals that of belief in God. American Cosmic examines the mechanisms at work behind the thriving belief system in extraterrestrial life, a system that is changing and even supplanting traditional religions. Over the course of a six-year ethnographic study, D.W. Pasulka interviewed successful and influential scientists, professionals, and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs who believe in extraterrestrial intelligence, thereby disproving the common misconception that only fringe members of society believe in UFOs. She argues that widespread belief in aliens is due to a number of factors including their ubiquity in modern media like The X-Files, which can influence memory, and the believability lent to that media by the search for planets that might support life. American Cosmic explores the intriguing question of how people interpret unexplainable experiences, and argues that the media is replacing religion as a cultural authority that offers believers answers about non-human intelligent life.

Book excerpt: DID THE PUBLICATION OF THIS RARE MANUSCRIPT CAUSE FAMED ASTRONOMER DR MORRIS K. JESSUP TO 'COMMIT SUICIDE?" Or was he murdered because of what he knew? Only a handful of copies were originally printed on an office copier by a private government contractor. NOW AVAILABLE AFTER NEARLY 50 YEARS On the evening of APril 20, 1959, an astronomer committed suicide in Dade County Park, FLorida. Inhaling automobile exhaust fumes which he had introduced from the tail pipe through a hose into his station wagon, he died in the same academic obscurity in which he had lived, unheralded and almost unrecognized in his discipline. Ironicallly, the scientists only public recognition had come from lay people, who had read his series of four books about UFOs. Morris Jessup's first book, THE CASE FOR THE UFO, had tended to alienate him from his colleagues. It was a paperback edition of this volume published in 1955 that enmeshed Jessup in one of the most bizarre mysteries in UFO history. An annotated reprint of the paperback was laboriously typed out on offset stencils and printed in a very small run by a Garland, Texas manufacturing company with military ties. Each page was run thrugh the small office duplicator twice, once with blank ink for the regular text of the book, then once again with red ink, the latter reproducing the mysterious annotations by three men, who may have been gypsies, hoaxters or space people living among humankind. The spiral bound volume contained more than 200 pages ane became known as the Annotated Edition. A reprint quickly became legend. A few civilizan UFO enthusiasts claimed to have seen copies, but there were only known to be seventeen in existence one of which Jessup possessed. . . but which mysteriously disappeared after his death. . . never to be seen again. This is a once in a lifetime offered reprint of the Case For The UFO with all the rare notes exactly as presented by these "strangers." The big mystery is why the government would go to so much trouble to reprint a book that had been rejected by the scientific community and further to include mysterious letters to the author and even more bizarre annotations. This manuscript is the first to hint at the Philadelphia Experiment, Time Travel and other scientifically "oddities." It is a manuscript which has been long searched for because of its quite peculiar nature and its rarity among "those in the know." There are some who say this book is among the weirdest ever published on unidentified flying objects. One copy is known to have been sold for $1200. This reprint is but a fraction of the cost. This edition also contains a rare introduction by Gray Barker.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “When I finished Witness to Roswell, I said to myself, ‘Case closed!’ for the very wealth and sheer weight of eyewitness testimony.”—George Noory, host, Coast to Coast AM This classic in the field of UFOology is filled with hard-hitting eyewitness testimony of one of the most important events of all time: the actual recovery of a UFO outside of Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947. For more than 70 years, government authorities have led us to believe the wreckage was merely a very conventional weather balloon—but the witnesses who were there continue to tell a different story. Witness to Roswell once again provides a "can't put down" written account of what really transpired in Roswell decades ago. It pries loose the truth the government doesn't want us to know including the revelations of Walter Haut. This edition includes: A growing litany of deathbed confessions describing the "little people" recovered at the crash site. The most comprehensive time line of events ever published on this seminal event. The identity of the Boeing engineer called in to examine the exotic wreckage from the crash. What really took place at the Roswell base hospital and what nurse actually ordered the children’s caskets. The story of the soldier who wore gloves at the dinner table after guarding the "bodies." Clearly, the implications of this information are foreboding. One need only look at the fact that officials now have four explanations for this historic event—but to which one do all the witnesses testify on their deathbeds? Witness to Roswell once again demonstrates to the world that no statute of limitation applies to the truth: We are not alone. This anniversary edition includes a new introduction by the authors and additional material.

Yet to this day the scientific establishment has steadfastly refused to engage in systematic study of what they are. This book examines why. Randles and Warrington establish by detailed case histories of many UFO sightings that unexplained phenomena certainly exist. Picking their way expertly through the maze of misinformation and fantasy, they examine the possible explanations, rejecting the 'standard' view- that UFO's are alien spaceships- in favour of more scientifically based and testable ideas. They suggest ways in which scientific standard should be applied and consider the fruits that such enquiries might yield- and the potential consequences for mankind of explaining the hitherto inexplicable.

Book excerpt: A new edition of the blockbuster book that revealed the top-secret findings of the US government about UFOs. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, while publicly dismissing the existence of UFOs, the United States Air Force was engaged in a secret program for evaluating every report of unidentified flying objects. Under the code name, Project Blue Book, the Air Force analyzed over 13,000 incidents. The goal of this enterprise was threefold: To determine the cause for each UFO sighting, to assess the security threat for each incident, and to determine how the United States could obtain or create the technology used by UFOs. This book, based on secret files obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, includes accounts of seven of the most important USAF enquiries-- among them the story of the nights the White House was buzzed by UFOs, the mystery of the Lubbock Lights, the full story of Captain Mantell--Ufology's first martyr, and the startling conversion of the prominent astronomer, J. Alan Hynek from UFO skeptic to believer. This is startling and fascinating book that uncovers not only the anatomy of a government cover-up, but also provides stark and chilling evidence that we are not alone. It is all here, government documents, the testimony of scientists, the military, pilots and citizens all over the country who have witnessed UFOS.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A voyage of exploration to the outer reaches of our inner lives. UFOs are a myth, says David J. Halperin—but myths are real. The power and fascination of the UFO has nothing to do with space travel or life on other planets. It's about us, our longings and terrors, and especially the greatest terror of all: the end of our existence. This is a book about UFOs that goes beyond believing in them or debunking them and to a fresh understanding of what they tell us about ourselves as individuals, as a culture, and as a species. In the 1960s, Halperin was a teenage UFOlogist, convinced that flying saucers were real and that it was his life's mission to solve their mystery. He would become a professor of religious studies, with traditions of heavenly journeys his specialty. With Intimate Alien, he looks back to explore what UFOs once meant to him as a boy growing up in a home haunted by death and what they still mean for millions, believers and deniers alike. From the prehistoric Balkans to the deserts of New Mexico, from the biblical visions of Ezekiel to modern abduction encounters, Intimate Alien traces the hidden story of the UFO. It's a human story from beginning to end, no less mysterious and fantastic for its earthliness. A collective cultural dream, UFOs transport us to the outer limits of that most alien yet intimate frontier, our own inner space.
