Book Synopsis Agriculture and EU Environmental Law by : Brian Jack
Download or read book Agriculture and EU Environmental Law written by Brian Jack and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-03-23 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book critically examines the development and current structure of European Union agri-environmental measures at a substantive level. Examining the measures in an integrated manner, showing how they interrelate linking different aspects of European Union agricultural law and policy, this volume examines the legislation adopted at European Union level as well as the impact of particular national measures to implement that legislation. Where appropriate, comparisons are drawn between the manner in which European Union legislation has been implemented among various Member States. Critically assessing European Union and national measures, in the light of other policy pressures such as the influence of world trade agreements and the political pressures exerted by the agricultural sector within the national legal systems of individual Member States, this volume is a valuable resource for academics researching and practitioners working in the areas of European Union environmental and agricultural law.

Download or read book Introduction to Environmental Management written by Brian Waters and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-10-28 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This endorsed handbook is directly aligned to the NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management, with each element of the syllabus explained in detail. Includes sample NEBOSH questions and case studies to aid learning Up to date and aligned with the revised 2012 specification Over 100 images, tables and diagrams, all in full colour Written by an expert in this field of study. Environmental pressures have been increasing on businesses over many years. New legislation has forced companies to look at their impact on the environment through such issues as use of resources, emissions, energy use, transport and waste management. Accidents such as the recent pollution incident by BP in the Gulf of Mexico grab the attention of the media and bring it into the public domain. In addition to its focus on the NEBOSH course, this book covers all of the essential elements managers will need to understand correct environmental health and safety management, including the broad legal framework, risk assessment and pointers to relevant standards. Brian Waters has 15 years’ experience in the water supply industry, and 13 years of experience in senior management roles with the National Rivers Authority and the Environment Agency. He has subsequently worked in training and consultancy, giving him a wealth of experience in this area.

Book Synopsis Draft Climate Change Bill by : Great Britain: Parliament: House of Commons: Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee
Download or read book Draft Climate Change Bill written by Great Britain: Parliament: House of Commons: Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2007-07-05 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report examines the draft Climate Change Bill, which published in March 2007 as Command paper Cm 7040 (ISBN 9780101704021). Target setting alone cannot deliver policy objectives, but enshrining one in law will strengthen the Government's resolve to achieve it, ensure greater public accountability, and give confidence to the business community whose investment decisions are central to meeting the target. The Committee recommends a number of changes to the bill. Inconsistency in language, with "UK carbon account" and "UK carbon dioxide emissions" seemingly used interchangeably, should be addressed. There should not be an upper limit on the 2020 target (26-32 per cent reduction in carbon dioxide emission), and the Bill should make provision for both the 2020 and 2050 targets to be revised, though only in an upwards direction. The provision to amend a budget more than a year after the end of a budgetary period is seen as making a nonsense of the concept of budgetary periods, and should be removed completely. The proposed Committee on Climate Change, rightly composed of experts, should not appear to give more representation to economic interests over environmental ones. The resources proposed for the Committee may prove inadequate. The Committee recommends that the impact of climate change on biodiversity should be added to the Bill.

Book Synopsis The Law of Nature Conservation by : Christopher Rodgers
Download or read book The Law of Nature Conservation written by Christopher Rodgers and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2013-03-21 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Providing a detailed account of the law of nature conservation, this book reviews and discusses the way in which the law promotes the conservation of species of animal, bird, and plant, and how it protects natural habitats for protected species. Using an interdisciplinary approach, the book sets nature conservation in its economic and scientific context. It explains how the law reconciles the public interest in promoting biodiversity and the conservation of species and habitats, on the one hand, and the private property rights of landowners and other resource appropriators on the other. The book offers an illuminating new interpretation of this area of environmental regulation using a resource allocation model of property rights to explain how legal and economic instruments for promoting nature conservation work in practice. The analysis covers all recent legislation and case law - including the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009, the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2010 and the 2012 National Planning Policy Framework. The book will serve as a critical guide to UK nature conservation law for those working in the system, and a valuable reference point on the UK's approach to the area for environmental lawyers and policy-makers overseas.
