Book Synopsis Impact of Feedback on Accuracy of Confidence Levels Assigned by Interpreters by : James A. Thomas
Download or read book Impact of Feedback on Accuracy of Confidence Levels Assigned by Interpreters written by James A. Thomas and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study dealt with the utility of feedback presented under simulated computerized conditions in improving the performance of interpreters in judging the value of their own identifications. Results supported previous findings that interpreters do not as a rule make dependable evaluations of their identifications. Confidence ratings made by interpreters in the high performance subgroup were generally more accurate and complete than those made in the low performance subgroup. Two feedback techniques in which the interpreters were given only data on previous rating performance--their own and their own plus that of other classes--resulted in somewhat more accurate expressions of confidence than did the technique in which interpreters were given their own corrected reports and the imagery they had previously interpreted. Confidence ratings reported by the interpreter group receiving no feedback were the least precise. It was concluded that interpreters' confidence ratings can be improved by practice in applying a knowledge-of-results frame of reference. Findings suggest, however, that more than two practice sessions are needed for the interpreter to reach an operationally useful level of accuracy in evaluating the information he provides. (Author).
Book Synopsis The Effect of Feedback and Development Planning on Subsequent Behavioral Ratings and Objective Group Performance by : Jennifer Nieman-Gonder
Download or read book The Effect of Feedback and Development Planning on Subsequent Behavioral Ratings and Objective Group Performance written by Jennifer Nieman-Gonder and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The performance appraisal process is often considered one of the most important numan resource systems as it is viewed as an instrument for personal development and performance improvement. Performance appraisal is typically achieved by subjectively evaluating an employee's performance on a set of behavioral criteria. However, there is a current dearth of experimental research assessing the impact of subjective performance evaluation and feedback on behavior change and objective outcome measures. The goal of the present experiment is to overcome limitations of previous research, using an experimental design to assess the effects of feedback and development planning on behavior change and objective group performance.

Download or read book The Feedback Fix written by Joe Hirsch and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2017-04-18 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Highly recommended by bestselling author Marshall Goldsmith The secret to giving better feedback isn’t what we say – it’s what others hear. Too often, people hear about a past they can’t control, not a future they can. That changes with “feedforward” – a radical approach to sharing feedback that unleashes the performance and potential of everyone around us. From managers and coaches trying to energize their teams, to teachers hoping to motivate their students, to parents looking to empower their children, people from all walks of life want others to hear what they have to say. Through a lively blend of stories and studies, The Feedback Fix shows them how by presenting a six-part REPAIR plan that spreads feedforward across boardrooms, classrooms, and even dining rooms. Even with drastic changes in how we work and live, the experiences we create for others – joy or fear, growth or decline, success or failure – still hang on the feedback we share. The Feedback Fix makes a compelling argument for getting what we want by giving others what they need – all while rebuilding the way we lead, learn, and live.

Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of Personnel Assessment and Selection written by Neal Schmitt and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2013-12-15 with total page 992 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Employee selection has long stood at the practical forefront of industrial/organizational psychology. Today's social, business, and economic climates require ongoing adaptations by those who select organizations' personnel, and research on the topic helps gauge the impact of these adaptations and their implications for human performance and potential. The Oxford Handbook of Personnel Assessment and Selection codifies the wealth of new research surrounding employee selection (web-based assessments, social networking, globalization of organizations), situating them alongside more traditional practices to establish the best and most relevant research for both professionals and academics. Comprising chapters from authors in both the private sector and academia, this volume is organized into seven parts: (1) historical and social context of the field of assessment and selection; (2) research strategies; (3) individual difference constructs that underlie effective performance; (4) measures of predictor constructs; (5) employee performance and outcome assessment; (6) societal and organizational constraints on selection practice; and (7) implementation and sustainability of selection systems. While providing a comprehensive review of current research and practice, the purpose of this handbook is to provide an up-to-date profile of each of the areas addressed and highlight current questions that deserve additional attention from researchers and practitioners. This compendium is essential reading for industrial/organizational psychologists and human resource managers.
