Book Synopsis Multivariate Statistics by : Morris L. Eaton
Download or read book Multivariate Statistics written by Morris L. Eaton and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Building from his lecture notes, Eaton (mathematics, U. of Minnesota) has designed this text to support either a one-year class in graduate-level multivariate courses or independent study. He presents a version of multivariate statistical theory in which vector space and invariance methods replace to a large extent more traditional multivariate methods. Using extensive examples and exercises Eaton describes vector space theory, random vectors, the normal distribution on a vector space, linear statistical models, matrix factorization and Jacobians, topological groups and invariant measures, first applications of invariance, the Wishart distribution, inferences for means in multivariate linear models and canonical correlation coefficients. Eaton also provides comments on selected exercises and a bibliography.

Book Synopsis One Day Longer by : Lynn R. Williams
Download or read book One Day Longer written by Lynn R. Williams and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2011-07-09 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lynn Williams remains one of the most influential North American union leaders of the twentieth century. His two terms as president of the United Steelworkers of America, from 1983 until 1994, capped off a career in labour relations spanning nearly five decades. Among his many notable achievements were the new bargaining techniques he developed to face challenges from anti-union politicians such as Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. Williams also played a major role in the structural readjustment of the North American steel industry during its most turbulent period, the 1980s and 1990s. In his memoirs, Williams vividly recounts his life in labour, with all its triumphs, challenges, hopes, and dreams. While telling his own story, Williams also traces the rise and transformation of the labour movement from the Second World War to today. Providing an insider's perspective on union developments and issues, One Day Longer is a profound reflection of Williams's impressive career.

Book Synopsis History of the Electric Automobile by : Ernest Henry Wakefield
Download or read book History of the Electric Automobile written by Ernest Henry Wakefield and published by SAE International. This book was released on 1993-08-01 with total page 582 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: History of the Electric Automobile covers the evolution from the first electric vehicles of the 1880s to the advances of today. Beginning with early electric vehicle development in England, France, and the United States, this book provides an in-depth look at the so-called "golden age of electric vehicles" (1895-1905), demonstrating the technological improvements and business risks of this era. This history also explores the "dead period" of the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, and the subsequent re-birth of interest in electric vehicles in the early 1960s. Events which have impacted the development of electric cars since then -- most notably the Electric Vehicle Act of 1976 -- are also examined. The book also features an appendix section containing such information as a name table of American electric cars, the Electric Vehicle Act of 1976, "nostalgia", and more. A glossary and index are also included. "For more than a century, nearly all seers who have predicted the role of electric vehicles in personal transportation have been wrong. This book records what actually happened, both within America and internationally." - Ernest H. Wakefield
