Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Historical Fiction Series From a Fascinating Era Caught in the sweeping changes connected with the European Reformation and Renaissance, sixteenth-century Holland under the reluctant leadership of William of Orange rebelled against the strong control of Spain's King Philip. The war that ensued to squelch the rebellion and exterminate religious heresy at any cost sets the background for Ethel Herr's compelling series, THE SEEKERS. In The Dove and the Rose, two young people are wrenched apart by the struggles of their parents. Pieter-Lucas is banished from his home for refusing to abide by his father's commitment to the Beggars, an extreme wing of Calvinism. Aletta Engelshofen is not allowed by her father to see Pieter for fear of any association with the Beggars. While they meet in secret, Aletta promises her love to Pieter and that she will wait for him until the trouble passes. Swirling tides of emerging religious, political, cultural, and personal independence clash in this excellent first book in THE SEEKERS.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On a cold blustery Sunday morning in January 2017, it was the first time my family and I stepped into the foyer of the Redeemer International Church of The Hague. We were met by a vivacious colorful woman who welcomed us and introduced herself by saying, “Good morning! My name is Rhonda, just like the song “Help Me Rhonda,” now you’ll never forget!” And she was right, how could we forget? We were from America and very familiar with this popular Beach Boys’ song. But besides that, we will never forget this warm welcome and who could guess that this woman would become one of my closest sisters in the Lord – a covenant sister. Rhonda Dikoko is a whirlwind, a dynamo, a beautiful, passionate and committed woman of God. I know of her toil in the Lord, how she gives 100% in everything she does. I’ve personally experienced this love and compassion at time when I was sick at home for a few weeks. Even though she was working full time, she came almost every day; to check on me, to bring me homemade soup and to give her encouragement. She doesn’t know it, but she carried me those weeks and I will never forget the blessing she was to me and my family. As you read this devotional book, you will see a glimpse of the wonderful woman Rhonda is, but I know with all her heart – she would want you to not see her, but Jesus Christ in her, daily working in her to bring the full glory unto God. ---- Mary Thomas, member of Redeemer International Church of The Hague.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During a life that spanned ninety years, Katherine Anne Porter (1890-1980) witnessed dramatic and intensely debated changes in the gender roles of American women. Mary Titus draws upon unpublished Porter papers, as well as newly available editions of her early fiction, poetry, and reviews, to trace Porter’s shifting and complex response to those cultural changes. Titus shows how Porter explored her own ambivalence about gender and creativity, for she experienced firsthand a remarkable range of ideas concerning female sexuality. These included the Victorian attitudes of the grandmother who raised her; the sexual license of revolutionary Mexico, 1920s New York, and 1930s Paris; and the conservative, ordered attitudes of the Agrarians. Throughout Porter’s long career, writes Titus, she “repeatedly probed cultural arguments about female creativity, a woman’s maternal legacy, romantic love, and sexual identity, always with startling acuity, and often with painful ambivalence.” Much of her writing, then, serves as a medium for what Titus terms Porter’s “gender-thinking”--her sustained examination of the interrelated issues of art, gender, and identity. Porter, says Titus, rebelled against her upbringing yet never relinquished the belief that her work as an artist was somehow unnatural, a turn away from the essential identity of woman as “the repository of life,” as childbearer. In her life Porter increasingly played a highly feminized public role as southern lady, but in her writing she continued to engage changing representations of female identity and sexuality. This is an important new study of the tensions and ambivalence inscribed in Porter’s fiction, as well as the vocational anxiety and gender performance of her actual life.

The interfaces for DVDs, the Internet, lasers, and fiber optics to collect light from a laser source and focus it to a point for readout or for coupling to another fiber optic for communications are tiny glass spheres, some as small as 1/100 of an inch in diameter. Our two-millimeter heroine, Crystal, is born in A.D. 523 on the Arabian shore during a lightning storm. A shepherd boy finds her and keeps her until he dies as sultan. Shahrazad is his destiny, but he will have to wait. Crystal has many adventures with well-known historical figures. Our hero is reborn in 1636 and starts his search for Crystal, from her legend. As Captain Nemo he finds Crystal and his destiny. Their son remains to seek his destiny.
