This book was released on 2008-11-12 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an unedited reprint of: In A Discourse In Vindication of the Doctrine of the Trinity: with an Answer to the late Socinian Objections against it from Scripture, Antiquity and Reason. And a Preface concerning the different Explications of the Trinity, and the Tendency of the present Socinian Controversie.(1697) Stillingfleet (1635-1699) here enters a controversy that had begun in 1687 with the publication of Stephen Nye's A Brief History of the Unitarians, and had been stoked by many later controversial pamphlets and books, including The Faith of the One God, published by Thomas Firmin. (Available here.) Stillingfleet defends traditional formulas about the Trinity from unitarians' charges of contradiction and poor fit with the Bible and early Christian tradition. Download or read book The Trinity written by Gilles Emery and published by Catholic University of America Press + ORM . This book was released on 2012-08-07 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A sound introduction to a crucial doctrine. Emery’s prose is scholarly yet widely accessible, at once traditional and constructive” (Themelios). Representing the highest quality of scholarship, Gilles Emery offers a much-anticipated exploration to Catholic doctrine on the Trinity. His extensive research combined with lucid prose provides readers a resource to better understand the foundations of Trinitarian reflection and addresses all who wish to benefit from an initiation to Trinitarian doctrine. The path proposed by this introductory work comprises six steps—from liturgical and biblical ways for entering into Trinitarian faith to the creative and saving action of the Trinity. The book concludes with a doctrinal exposition of the “missions” of the Son and Holy Spirit, that is, the salvific sending of the Son and Holy Spirit that leads humankind to the contemplation of the Father. “Trinitarian doctrine is not easy, but Emery (with his translator) has rendered it intelligible and attractive . . . Exegetes, theologians, historians, and liturgists alike will find the Trinity related to their discipline. Most importantly, The Trinity will prepare its readers to enter higher levels of discussion about the Trinity.” —Sacra Pagina

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Trinity New Testament revelation, how the doctrine bears vitally on thought and conduct to-day. There is nothing intentionally controversial in the book, and I crave pardon of any, Unitarian or Catholic, whom it may offend by the eagerness and strength of the conviction which is behind it. I have not ventured directly to address those who differ from me, or to assume that they will read my book; but I have tried to write so that all readers may realise how the faith once for all delivered to the saints presents itself to one, who finds more in it every year to satisfy the intellect and to nourish the heart. Book Synopsis Truth Triumphant by : Wilkinson, Benjamin George
Download or read book Truth Triumphant written by Wilkinson, Benjamin George and published by Delmarva Publications, Inc.. This book was released on 2015-02-23 with total page 674 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A much neglected field of study has been opened by the research of the author into the history of the Christian church from its apostolic origins to the close of the eighteenth century. Taking as his thesis the prominence given to the Church in the Wilderness in Bible prophecy, and the fact that “‘the Church in the Wilderness,’ and not the proud hierarchy enthroned in the world’s great capital, was the true church of Christ,” he has spent years developing this subject. In its present form, Truth Triumphant represents much arduous research in the libraries of Europe as well as in America. Excellent ancient sources are most difficult to obtain, but the author has been successful in gaining access to many of them. To crystallize the subject matter and make the historical facts live in modem times, the author also made extensive travels throughout Europe and Asia. The doctrines of the primitive Christian church spread to Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. As grains of a mustard seed they lodged in the hearts of many Godly souls in southern France and northern Italy — people known as the Albigenses and the Waldenses. The faith of Jesus was valiantly upheld by the Church of the East. This term, as used by the author, not only includes the Syrian and Assyrian Churches, but is also the term applied to the development of apostolic Christianity throughout the lands of the East. The spirit of Christ, burning in the hearts of loyal men who would not compromise with paganism, sent them forth as missionaries to lands afar. Patrick, Columbanus, Marcos, and a host of others were missionaries to distant lands. They braved the ignorance of the barbarian, the intolerance of the apostate church leaders, and the persecution of the state in order that they might win souls to God. To unfold the dangers that were ever present in the conflict of the true church against error, to reveal the sinister working of evil and the divine strength by which men of God made truth triumphant, to challenge the Remnant Church today in its final controversy against the powers of evil, and to show the holy, unchanging message of the Bible as it has been preserved for t hose who will “fear God, and keep His commandments” — these are the sincere aims of the author as he presents this book to those who know the truth. MERLIN L. NEFF.
