Book Synopsis Design of High-speed Communication Circuits by : Ramesh Harjani
Download or read book Design of High-speed Communication Circuits written by Ramesh Harjani and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2006 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: MOS technology has rapidly become the de facto standard for mixed-signal integrated circuit design due to the high levels of integration possible as device geometries shrink to nanometer scales. The reduction in feature size means that the number of transistor and clock speeds have increased significantly. In fact, current day microprocessors contain hundreds of millions of transistors operating at multiple gigahertz. Furthermore, this reduction in feature size also has a significant impact on mixed-signal circuits. Due to the higher levels of integration, the majority of ASICs possesses some analog components. It has now become nearly mandatory to integrate both analog and digital circuits on the same substrate due to cost and power constraints. This book presents some of the newer problems and opportunities offered by the small device geometries and the high levels of integration that is now possible. The aim of this book is to summarize some of the most critical aspects of high-speed analog/RF communications circuits. Attention is focused on the impact of scaling, substrate noise, data converters, RF and wireless communication circuits and wireline communication circuits, including high-speed I/O. Contents: Achieving Analog Accuracy in Nanometer CMOS (M P Flynn et al.); Self-Induced Noise in Integrated Circuits (R Gharpurey & S Naraghi); High-Speed Oversampling Analog-to-Digital Converters (A Gharbiya et al.); Designing LC VCOs Using Capacitive Degeneration Techniques (B Jung & R Harjani); Fully Integrated Frequency Synthesizers: A Tutorial (S T Moon et al.); Recent Advances and Design Trends in CMOS Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits (D J Allstot et al.); Equalizers for High-Speed Serial Links (P K Hanumolu et al.); Low-Power, Parallel Interface with Continuous-Time Adaptive Passive Equalizer and Crosstalk Cancellation (C P Yue et al.). Readership: Technologists, scientists, and engineers in the field of high-speed communication circuits. It can also be used as a textbook for graduate and advanced undergraduate courses.

Book Synopsis Applications of Nonlinear Dynamics by : Visarath In
Download or read book Applications of Nonlinear Dynamics written by Visarath In and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-02-11 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ?eld of applied nonlinear dynamics has attracted scientists and engineers across many different disciplines to develop innovative ideas and methods to study c- plex behavior exhibited by relatively simple systems. Examples include: population dynamics, ?uidization processes, applied optics, stochastic resonance, ?ocking and ?ightformations, lasers, andmechanicalandelectricaloscillators. Acommontheme among these and many other examples is the underlying universal laws of nonl- ear science that govern the behavior, in space and time, of a given system. These laws are universal in the sense that they transcend the model-speci?c features of a system and so they can be readily applied to explain and predict the behavior of a wide ranging phenomena, natural and arti?cial ones. Thus the emphasis in the past decades has been in explaining nonlinear phenomena with signi?cantly less att- tion paid to exploiting the rich behavior of nonlinear systems to design and fabricate new devices that can operate more ef?ciently. Recently, there has been a series of meetings on topics such as Experimental Chaos, Neural Coding, and Stochastic Resonance, which have brought together many researchers in the ?eld of nonlinear dynamics to discuss, mainly, theoretical ideas that may have the potential for further implementation. In contrast, the goal of the 2007 ICAND (International Conference on Applied Nonlinear Dynamics) was focused more sharply on the implementation of theoretical ideas into actual - vices and systems.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An in-depth look at the theory and applications of frequency stability An understanding of the acquisition of stable frequency is essential for anyone who needs to solve noise problems in wireless communications. This book offers a thorough introduction to the principles and applications of frequency stability, arming practicing engineers with the tools they need to minimize noise in systems and devices that affect everyday communications for millions of people. With an emphasis on both practical and scientific points of view, Frequency Stability: Introduction and Applications examines frequency and time fluctuations in resonators, as well as the stability of both standard and practical microwave oscillators. It explains noise properties of building circuit blocks, introducing time domain properties and how they relate to noise spectral densities. Including a special chapter devoted to the design and properties of phase locked loops—a crucial topic for frequency synthesizers—the book also: Examines in detail L/F noise, showing how power losses in the propagation material extend over a long period of time Covers sapphire, optoelectronics, MW, and ring oscillators with the discussion of noise in delay-line oscillators with lasers Offers an extended treatment of phase noise in semiconductors and amplifiers based on Van der Ziel investigations Emphasizes the modified Allan variance in the time domain, including exact computations Outlines the relationship between resonator frequency and output phase noises via the feedback theory Featuring numerous tables with actual data, Frequency Stability: Introduction and Applications is an invaluable guide for engineers wishing to rein in acoustic and electromagnetic interference in modern communications.
