If we breathe in this “air,” we will begin to adopt their attitude, thoughts, speech and conduct. 'We know that we are from God, but the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.' (1 John 5:19) Satan controls "the spirit," i.e., worldview, of every human alienated from God, by infecting their beliefs about life. This is why Paul in the same letter exhorted us to be 'renewed in the spirit of our mind.' (Eph. 4:23) Therefore, Christians are to avoid taking in Satanic "air," being influenced by its values, beliefs, thinking, speech and conduct, we must be renewing our mind day by day, discerning what is the will of God. (Rom. 12:2) Paul counseled, "Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth."
